Well yes, Joker refers to EDI a little too often as mom for me to take it as anything romantic. Hmm... just started a new FemShep so I'll just write them down this time. As good a talker as Joker is he would be able to be a bit more suave than that if he was indeed interested in EDI in any way, shape or form. I will cry if there is no Joker for my FemShep but I'll fling myself of a cliff if there is Joker/EDI *shudders* Or scream from the rooftops.

I'll write a strongly worded letter to Mr. Hudson for both occasions, as follows:

EDI is the "mother ship". *shot for horrible joke*

Anyways, I agree that EDI is more a mother figure than anything. As for Chakwas...hmm...I can sort of see that happening, but I moreso see her as another mother figure to Joker. I'm trying to think of someone for Joker if a player doesn't romance him (if there is that option). Not Kelly - she'd just play doctor all day. Tali...doubtful since I think she has her eyes on Kal'Reagar. Liara has Feron. Ashley...? Maybe. I can see her with Joker more than anyone else. Gabby? No, since her and Ken are BFFs who are in love and just don't know it. Just like Shepard and Joker!!!! Hmph. I can't think of anyone else. Maybe a random new crewmember. I don't know. I just want Joker all to myself, damnit!

So I'm saving Feros, right? I held it off for last because I wanted to keep Jeong alive for once - funny as heck Kaidan and Ashley freak out over your persuasion skills. Anyways, I've just dislogged the Geth ship and communications are brought back up. Joker comes on:

"Normandy to shore party! Normandy to shore party! Come on Commander, talk to me!"

My heart melted at the desperation in his voice.

And the fact that Joker seems wary of Shepard throughout ME makes his worry all the sweeter. At least that's the feeling I got. As we've said, Joker's probably a little anti-social and has built walls to protect himself from harsh jabs. I can imagine a senario when Joker's starting to like Shepard (prepare for long dialog ahead - muse is back from the dead):

Joker: Why the hell does the commander keep coming up here? She could just talk through the terminal. *scoffs* Probably thinks I'll break a thumb pushing buttons. ...No, the commander's not like that. Maybe. Well...*huffs* Okay, she's nice. She doesn't seem to care about my disease. That'll be a first if it's true. ...Alright, she's okay. And her smile is...nice. She hardly laughs though. No wonder why after all that **** on Torfan. Heh, here I thought she'd be an ice queen, or a Bellatrix Lestrange type of girl. But she's not, so that's cool.
Shepard: Who's a Bellatrix Lestrange type of girl?
Joker: ARGH! Er, commander! What the hell are you doing up here?!
Shepard: Coming to say "hi"?
Joker: ...How much did you hear?
Shepard: Something about an ice queen and Bellatrix Lestrange. I didn't know you talked to yourself, Joker.
Joker: *grumbles, blushing* Yeah well, if someone gave me a mirror to see people coming, I'd be able to keep that secret.
Shepard: *laughs* Your secret's safe with me, Joker. Anyways, just wanted to thank you for giving the heads up on the geth down there.
Joker: *snorts* Of course I did. It's a part of my job, commander. You'd be toast without me.
Shepard: *smiles* I'll speak with you later. And, Joker? Try to eat lunch in the mess this time. The relief is complaining about crumbs on the seat.
Joker: *grumbles* Aye, aye commander.
Shepard: *flicks Joker's hat over his eyes; leaves*
Joker: Hmph. *adjusts hat* Come in here, messin' with my hat and making me eat with people... *goes back to work...smiles*

And then they become good friends, then BFFs in ME2. Hopefully more in ME3.

Ah, the "NO!" topic is back! Well, I'm feeling inspired, so I think I'll throw in some of the reactions I would have for the lulz:

It's March 5th, and Bioware decides to delay the release of Mass Effect 3.
When I finally get the game, I find out that Joker is not an LI.
The Joker/EDI romance happens.
Joker dies.
If any of the above proves to be true, I will want to send the following response to Bioware.

Also, just for laughs, if anybody asks me if I think the Joker/EDI romance is a good idea.

I actually really really hope that Joker is at Sheps trial and can stand up for her =D but I doubt he will be there cause he's on the Normandy I think

Hmmm.... from what I remember from demos and such all hell breaks lose at the trial. Shep runs out and is picked up by the Normandy so I guess that Joker is on it. Think that Shep talks with Ash on the demo so we haven't heard Joker yet. Which is something that I would like to do... very much. Think I'm going to take a look at the demo-stuff again this evening =)

Although Tali and Garrus is probably the most likely alternative. Even though I've never had the "they're close friends" vibe from them: the stairway banter on the Citadel does not sound, to me, as if Tali is amused.

As for who could be an alternative to Shepard for Joker? Hmm...I agree that Chakwas has a more motherly vibe to her. Kelly is just a no-go. Gabby is otherwise spoken for. Ashley...I dunno, she never made it past Virmire on any of my games. She might be a tad too aggressive for him.

I was wondering whether Kasumi might work. Barring her obsession with Jacob, that is.

Considering it's a military trial concerning a top secret mission, I don't think it's likely any squaddies or crew will be present.

I'm also a Tali-Reegar shipper. It's just too cute.

I thought the stairway banter was just Garrus teasing. Like he knew it was going to annoy her but that she'd know he meant nothing by it. But we don't exacctly have a lot of information to go on.

As for Joker-non Shep pairings, I can kinda see Joker-Gabby with Ken all fuming in the background but not knowing why he's angry. Kelly's too perky-happy-loud, Chakwas is too motherly-doctor/patient and (I really shouldn't need to say this) EDI is an AI with no body and no emotions...and also very motherly. But really it should be Joker-Shep.

I'm pretty sure they're gonna make it a big show trial to appease the batarians. Since the mission was almost a personal errand for Admiral Hackett, Alliance command almost has plausible deniability as far as saying they knew about the mission, so they could try Shepard in any way they please. Anything could happen.

Count me in onboard the Tali/Kal train. I LOVE Kal, he's awesome and deserves someone...not to mention I have an absolutely huge crush on Adam Baldwin, so that doesn't help. XD

Edit: Nam, I need a "Team Shoker" shirt. Lol.

You know how awesome I am at grasping at straws, but whenever I watch the scene where Tali asks Kal to call her "Tali" and he responds with "Ma'am," I hear a type of flirtation in his voice (and I imagine Tali blushing under that mask)... of course, it could just be me...

I was just playing Arrival again recently and wiiish they had got SG to record Joker dialogue for it, it was too weird having the Normandy having a VI instead of the usual Joker.

edit: Also I agree with Tali/Kal would be too cute
