To be entirely fair, all he says is "we're gonna take care of you guys". Not "you might be pleasantly surprised" or "just wait for what we have in store" or anything like that.

They could be taking care of it in the sense that they'll quash any likelihood of it happening. Heck, it could be EDI making a move on Joker and Joker being weirded out.

Or maybe that's just me trying to be unreasonably optimistic.

I read it as both, like, "If you don't make a move on Joker, then Joker/EDI may happen." Like how Fenris/Isabela would get together in Act 3 of DA2 if you weren't in a romance with either of them...except weirder.

It was "announced" ages ago that there would be no new LI's, but Casey Hudson himself said that it wasn't true...?

Er...I've heard the exact opposite. Who to believe?

I mean, BW already contradicted themselves on whether there would be salarian and turian females or not. They could be doing it again. Lemme go try dig things up.

While this doesn't say that there will be new LIs, it's pretty much inevitable. You can't have more romance options without having more LIs. And more LIs means new LIs (not necessarily new characters).

Thing is, Fenris/Isabela is at least understandable. They're both human(oid), they're both hawt. It's only natural. Whereas EDI is...a computer. I mean, come on.

And lol, yes, that BB video is chuckle-worthy. I can remember almost all of their names, except the latino guy. What was he called...?

But back OT:
I totally agree with the EDI thing - I really don't know what people's obsession with human/artificial intelligence relations.  
First Master Chief and Cortana... but not my Joker  
He deserves a real person, even if it's not Shepard.

EDIT: It kinda worked with MC & Cortana, because she wasn't really and AI in the general term. But this is a Joker thread, and Joker does not belong with EDI.  End of. <_<

Well, if she was an android, it would be less weird. But she's not. She's a weird blue stumpy thing with a uh...disturbingly shaped orifice for speaking.

I mean...did they really have to make it vertical and oval-shaped?

Yeah uh... I dunno
I just hope Shepard doesn't upgrade EDI into an android or something. It's unecessary and doesn't really improve her usefulness. Probably will end up with being more eyecandy for male/lesbians/bi players.
Like they don't have enough eyecandy in the game already :c

Sometimes when I'm Mary-Sue-ing myself into daydreams (You do it too. Don't you even give me that look.) I imagine a SHAMELESS SELF INSERT spending some free time in the flight simulator. You know. To hone up on skillz. For reasons that make absolutely no military sense at all but exhibit flawless logic from a stupid daydream point of view, there are customisable SOUNDTRACKS in the flight simulator. I like listening to 'I Blame Coco - In Spirit Golden' for example.

And then... Suddenly... PLAYER 2 HAS ENTERED THE GAME. You know what that means.
All kinds of fun and exciting Mary-Sue possibilities.

Sigh. Okay, so I always imagine that Shepard is about to exit the Normandy and do some big thing to defeat the Reapers. Thing is, it's gonna cost her life (ultimate Mary-sue XD). Goes something like this:

*Shepard's grabbing her gear*
Tali: Shepard, if you go out there, you'll die.
Shepard: I know.
Tali: Do you hear me Shepard? You'll die, and this time we won't be able to bring you back.
Shepard: I know, Tali.
*everyone else in the ship starts to hear the conversations*
Joker: What's going on?
Wrex: Shepard's gone suicidal.
Joker: What?
Tali: She's going to go out there!
Wrex: Told ya. Suicidal.
Joker: Commander, have you gone crazy?
Shepard: Possibly.
Ashley: I'm going with you.
Miranda: Has everyone suddenly gone insane?
Shepard: I'm going alone. I can do this by making that mistake again.
Shepard: Williams, you're staying here. That's an order.
Ashley: No ma'am.
Tali: Shepard, if you insist on doing this, I'm coming with you.
Shepard: Tali-.
Tali: I want to repay you. For everything.
Shepard: You can't just-.
Jack: They're not gonna listen. Believe me.
Shepard: Then get ready to leave.
*the three walk up the stairs, nearing the exit, followed by the rest of the crew, ready to see them out*

Shepard: I can, and I will. It's the only way.
Wrex: Anything you need to do before you die?

Jack: *shrugs* If you're gonna die, might as get any unfinished buisness done.

EDI: I believe we have already established that.

Shepard: I shouldn't.
Wrex: You'll regret if you don't.
Shepard: I can't.
Jack: You can. You're just too scared.
Garrus: Shouldn't we be worrying about the Reapers?
Shepard: *sighs; kisses Joker*

Shepard: *pulling away* I've always wanted to do that. *walks toward exit of Normandy, and without looking back says:*  EDI you're in charge while I'm gone.

*gets pelted with cabbages* Ouch! No! Stop it! She said it could be Mary-sue-ish! Where the f*ck did you people get cabbages anyway?! Jesus!!!

I enjoyed the read quite a bit, it felt exactly like something Shepard would do <3

@ Omega Torsk lol, always knew that you were good at grasping straws but had no idea that you were a professional. Good thing that we have got you here =) got some more of that by the way. I want some straws too

@ Sorrel read the latest Chapter and <3 it as always!! You spoil me with Joker-stuff!

@ DeadlyHaven no cabbages for you! I liked that, if my FemShep were to go out in flames I think that is what she would do if she had the possibility. Give Joker one last good smootch. Hopefully it won't be the first and the last at the same time....

And fantasy-time, well, this is a little embarrassing but yes. I do have one of those. I have a FemShep-trailer that I'm perfecting. That's what I usually do when getting in to work if I'm to tired to listen to the news. FemShep and all the girls are walking on a desert planet, the guys and Normandy are out doing something very good I'm sure. All of a sudden the ground starts to shaking and 3 thresher maw comes up in sync with the music. I have a fav soundtrack for this one. Fire nation by Two Steps From Hell, recommend it by the way. Well, Ash and FemShep, Tali, Samara and the rest aren't going to sit around so this is when the real action starts. I even have their moves choreographed, but won't get into that here. FemShep radios the Normandy and we are treated to some great scenes of Joker going all hero turning the Normandy around racing back to the planet, Garrus and the rest getting their gear ready. Tali is standing with her omni-tool pointing out where the next maw will resurface, FemShep and Ash kills it in a good action-slow motion sequence. When the Normandy shows up the girls are standing by one of the thresher maws getting their group-pic a la WoW-raid-style... Cue some cute banter between Joker and FemShep.

Good thing I at least look normal when getting in to work, lol =)
