Don't worry Omega, I can really see the difference :whistle:
Dunno if this has been asked before but does anyone think that Joker would be slightly worried about getting involved with Shep because of his condition?
Like in the way that Garrus says Shep can always look for someone closer to home?

* want the short answer, go to the very end. XD

I've wondered that too. Now, I'm trying to put myself in Joker's shoes at this point. I have  been judged just because I have ADD - I'm apparently mentally disabled  in school records, and teachers don't want to bother with me sometimes - and it's just a minor case. I was very defensive when people brought it up because I did not want to explain it for the millionth time, and I  avoided classmates like they had the plague because I did not want to  get hurt. They always told me it would be hard for me to get into college just because I had ADD - I was held back from the beginning. Sort of like Joker.

Joker is very defensive when it come to his condition - we all know this from ME when you ask him how he's doing, and he jumps all down your throat thinking you're going to question his capabilities. He's tired of people thinking he can't do anything. So, when Shepard show she has faith in him, Joker warms up to her a little more. At the end of the game when you are going to Illos, instead of his usual: "what is it" or "whatever you want commander", he says "need something?" like he's open to helping her. (Of course we're talking about M!Shep too, I'm just used to referring to Shepard as a "her"). Still, Joker opens up to Shepard little by little because she doesn't seem to care about his condition - Joker likes anyone who doesn't seem him as the guy with the creaky legs...or even talks about it. It's hard to gain his trust, he doesn't even start to openly like you until the very end of ME, and y'all are best friends in ME2.

He is a very proud man. He doesn't see himself as limited in any way because he is rebeling against those who said he was. He's cocky enough to border on arrogance, and his sarcasm can be annoying to some. But that's just a barrier Joker has put around himself for protection. He's like an onion. Peel off the layers, they'll make you cry because he's just as scarred and hurt from the teasing, insults, and lack of faith from his peers. He's probably had a few girlfriends, but they teased him behind his back, or they dated him out of pity, or women just plain avoided him. So, say if Joker and Shepard got together, a small voice at the back of Joker's mind would constantly question Shepard's reason for being with him. And I suppose like Garrus, he'd want everything to go right especially if he really likes Shepard - which is my theory anyways. So, Joker probably would worry about his condition while he was with Shepard\\..only because of what she would think about having to take precautions in being with him. When they're deeper in the relationship, and he's not afraid to be a little vulnerbale, he'd ask her if she was sure and tell her he wouldn't blame her for wanting to leave. This may be one of the only times he hates his disease because it is to blame for nearly everything wrong in his life.

* In short...yes, I do believe he would be concerned.

Anyway, enjoy my exhausting wall of text! :lol:

EDIT: yes, i have the top again!

@Phantom,
Ooh I really like your wall of text take on it, I could really see that happening in ME3
Also when I saw the onions bit was a link, I was like please let that be a link to the Shrek scene, gotta say you made my day =D
Aaand love the wee comic thing it made me laugh ^_^

edit: Also rereading it and noticed the part where you say Jokers previous girlfriends coulda made fun of him behind his back, that made me sad TT_TT but yeah still loving your take on it and it really seems like something that would happen in ME3.

I could see Joker having had a pretty hard time in school, cause let's face it Kids Are Cruel and will pretty much pick on anyone who is "different".
I was thinking as well about the bit in ME1 where Joker says he already ahd to explain to Anderson about his condition and that he would be fine at flying the ship, so maybe Shep is the first person who is in charge who has trusted him with the ship without giving him the third degree about his Vroliks?
hmm.. well it's late where I am so I really should be off :lol:

Oh, cool! Yeah, if the thread is cool with it, you can totally use the meme in the OP! However, can I just tweak a few small things, first?

*edits like a boss*

Done!

* snip *

Can't notice a difference, can you? Well, pretty much the only thing that's different is the shirt. Alright, look at the original. Do you see that barely noticeable pink highlighting between the lines (left from the original color)? Well, I filled that in. Gotta make it look snappy if it's going in the OP! Oh, and it's a little smaller.

{smilie}

Thanks Omega Torsk  :wizard:  I'll sort it out this evening! And I could see the difference once you pointed it out.

I like the new pick, but I am upset that you removed SpongeBob. He supports a Jokermance, too. -.-

Aww don't worry =) there's still a pic of SpongeBob left and he's similing in that one so it's all good    ;)

I like the wall-o-text there Phantom. And I agree with it. Could him being defensive against other people be one of the reasons for him studying so hard in school. I don't remember what he said in ME regarding school. I know he said something about studying hard because no one is going to give you want you want for free. But I could see him doing what you said, avoiding classmates in order not to get hurt and since he was bright, just pour himself into studying instead.

I actually have ADD too, but they didn't discover it until a few years ago. I live in Sweden so I'm a little unsure about your school-system, but I got the diagnosis when I only had 2 years left until the university (I was 17-ish). The older the person is, the longer they have to wait to get tested and results it seems.

I think you had it worse than me :/
I didn't get treated differently from the teachers who knew and I didn't tell any of my classmates so things never really changed. I just found out that I'm a "Bokstavsbarn" (translated to Letterchild) and my life continued as normal.
I only have a mild form of ADD and it doesn't stop me from entering any university here in Sweden.
But I still prefer that people think I'm lazy than that I have a "mental condition" that makes it hard for me to focus and finish things in time, or even at all.

@RhiPanda
Yes, kids are cruel, and I actually consider myself lucky for getting the diagnosis when I was in my late teens and almost an adult.

Horse of a different colour that.
I've always wanted my combat drone to have audio barks. The type of commentary changes and right now I'm leaning towards BuffyBot style word salad.

Southern school systems are a lot worse - we are near the bottom when it comes to scores and such. So, whatever or whoever brings their system down, they sort of treat like a piece of dust they flick off a suit. It really is a good thing yours was discovered so late, but your experience as a child may have been a lot different compared to mine. I always here your school systems are good, anyways. Plus, over here it's the SOUTH. Any American would understand what that means. Most of us can be very prejudice. I found out I had ADD in 2nd grade, and my teacher treated me a lot different after the diagnosis - she was even a little mean. She insisted I be held back...which I was. So, no, my experience as a Letterchild (I actually really like that translation) wasn't all that great. It is only when I was nearly out of highschool I got a mentor who didn't give a **** about my disability, and pushed me to do everything everyone said I couldn't. He was like a father to me. I still had to write a letter of appeal to the college I wanted to go to because of my ADD...due to the fact they didn't want me to bring their scores down. <_< We had to threaten them with a lawyer eventually. So you're very lucky. Don't get me started on the meds I had to take. lol I finally stopped taking anything, and I'm just fine without the "help". I just need a kick in the pants to get moving sometimes. :D

When I got the diagnosis it was more of a relief than a shock to me. Everything fell to it's place, I finally understood why I had so hard concentrating and finish stuff (mostly school-related stuff). And everybody, except for one teacher - the one who actually recommended me and my parents to get an evaluation, all assumed that I was lazy. And most of them was good teachers who gave me an extra shove, didn't hold me back and didn't treat me like I was dumb.

I chose to not take any meds, since I've managed without them for this long. However, I do have calenders, notes and reminders everywhere because it helps me to begin working on things. But I did have to go to several meetings to learn about ADD and got several tips on how to make things a little easier for me. It did help and my grades got alot better, especially in math and in physics, where I actually was among the top of my class in the A course.

So my story has a happy ending :)
Now to something else,

I think it's better with a small, but powerful combat drone is better than a bigger combat drone. You want them to be sneaky and hard to hit, so I'd prefer a round blob than a humanlike drone. And EDI is stuck in the ship, so it has to be another one that you send out during battles.

Yeah I always hated when everyone made fun of me for having OCD and doing a bunch of weird stuff. They didn't know, but still: hurtful! ADD I also have, and it's nbd where I'm from.
class discussion-
Kid: *misbehaving*
Teacher: JAMES! Sit down!
Kid: I have ADHD.
Teacher: So does every other kid in America!
Everyone else: XD

Don't feel bad for him, he was a jerk, and 14. Not to mention what my teacher said is pretty much true one in every two kids get it. :P

I'm currently on my iPad so I can only write in the Quick Reply box for some reason but...
We need a new Topic!
I think you might've talked about this before but do you think Joker will let you wear his cap if you romance him or will he rage if you try to steal it?

LAI DOOON YUR WAPPOUNS!
:lol:

Also, count me into the ADD club. Only, I was diagnosed with ADHD, its hyperactive cousin. I don't remember people judging me by it, but I do remember being somewhat of an introvert in elementary school. This was on the West Coast (America), so I'm not sure how our scores stack up to the other states, but I honestly don't remember anyone judging me by it (most of my peers didn't even know) or holding me back because of it. I just had a problem focusing (listening, doing homework, etc), but most of my teachers were helpful. In middle school, I received biofeedback therapy, which helped to correct it and now I barely feel the effects of ADHD at all. It's just hard to read books, sometimes (I'll have to go over a certain sentence several times), but I do just fine in school!
:D
Also, I'm stealing that word "Letterchild." I freaking love it! :lol:

But yeah, Phantom wins some interwebs for her awesome analysis of Joker! Bioware, you had BETTER be reading this! Lol

Omega: I looked in the thread...and had to leave. People are complaining. As usual. <_< People are starting to dislike anything Joker related because we're rooting for a romance with him. *sigh*

Joker's an awesome character - he shouldn't be underminded because of a popular opinion.

Why are people hating on the part when you got to play as Joker?
Seriously, I liked it and it was better than just having a cutscene or knowing what Shep did (probably playing cards or Truth or Dare) and then return and Joker being all "WHERE THE **** DID YOU GO"

Ye, I'm not sticking around there either :/
Seems like there's mostly pessimists and haters there.
It feels like it's forever until ME3 is released. Atleast I get to play a few games to keep me busy until it's released.

Joker: Look, Commander, I don't really know how to explain this to you. I'm- well, I'm like... I'm like an onion.
Shepard: *sniff* You stink?
Joker: Ye- NO! :blink:
Shepard: Oh, you make people cry.
Joker: No. <_<
Shepard: Oh, I see. If you stay out in the sun, you get all brown and start sprouting little white hairs. Is that why you never leave the ship?
Joker: NO!!! Layers. I. Have. Layers. Onions have layers- you get it! We both have layers.
:lol:

Come to think of it, not everybody likes onions... CAKE! Everybody loves cake! Cakes have layers! Boo-yah, I win!

*A Wild GlaDOS Appears*

GlaDOS: The cake is a lie.

Argh! Foiled, again!

And sorry for linking to that thread. I thought it would be good practice the next time a wild troll appears! (see what the opposition is like) ;)
