Couldn't keep reading that thread. People hating on Joker makes me all pissy >:/

And as a topic question... I was thinking about Joker the other day (as I tend to do) and wondered about his relationship with Dr. Chakwas. In ME2 the good doctor states that Jeff will always need her help, even if he wouldn't admit it, but I never recall him ever mentioning anything about her. Like, ever. Do you think he appreciates her motherly concern, or even realizes it's there? And since Dr. Chakwas can die in ME2, I wonder how that would affect him if he did in fact have a bond with her. Opinions?

Back to being a little more serious

I did a ME2-meme on DA just for fun. Had to look around a little until there was one that didn't ask for a pic of EDI-Joker-romance.... How I feel about that would not have been a good pic. Somehow I feel that giving EDI  a sexy humanoid body would be too much like battle star galactica. I'm sure that  the ME-team can come up with their own stuff. Sorry... don't want to bring that thing up again, was just a little miffed when looking around for a good meme

Did Horizon last weekend and the irritating guy in the shed, delan or something like that... he has the Joker-cap unless I'm mistaken. Oki, there isn't any SR2 or black on it. But I was looking at him, how can you have such a cool cap and be such a douche.... Do you know the guy that rocks who's also wearing a cap. Hmmm.... people being taken by the collectors, ingridients for human-smoothie and I'm irritated by the lack of cool by a guy wearing a cap reminding me of Joker. Lol, I might need to sort out my priorities      =)

@ SolarDiamond    I just saw your post about Dr Chakwas. Yes, Joker should mention her sometime. It's a little odd that she talks so much about him and he doesn't talk about her. But then again, that would bring up the OI and I guess that's why he doesn't do it. Hmmm... I could see him appriciating her concern but not wanting to show it too much. It would be fun to hear what he thinks of Chakwas in ME3. Wonder what they will do if she isn't there, since she said that he will always need her help. What do you do then?

The comments in that thread really aren't that bad, you know. Most of the people in there who don't want one are like... not aggressive or crap about it.

People are allowed to dislike Joker. That's fine. The more vocal they are the bigger a ping on my radar they'll make, and that just means I can give them a wide berth very easily.

Obviously people are allowed to dislike Joker, just like any other character. None of us could say there isnt someone they're not fond of. Its not unreasonable for people to expect there'll be crappy comments about him, so its fine if people want to avoid reading other peoples comments to avoid that.
Its not people being unreasonably protective and defensive of their character because people might not 'like him', its not wanting to read the same tired jibes about him.

Namira I agree but I am afraid I am going to have to have a little rant as I have read the thread and had a bad day!

I have read worse threads and/or comments about that character but some of the comments on there are boardering on offencive 'walk like a gorilla' for example!,- we all have characters that we dont like (for me its Jacob) the thing is though that if (and I cant remember the last time I did) I comment on him on threads I keep it simple and dont say things that take me in to the land of '-ist' or '-phobic' as I am not like that (well I do have sciurophobia - fear of squirrels, but thats ot lol). When people come on here they always go for the disabled card and its just wrong on so many levels. OK I know Joker is just a charceter but the thing is they show a lack of awareness and respect for people who may actaully be directy afffected by their comments.

Oh I feel better - may not have to slap the bank clerk now :-)

Rant away Victia. My point was that we werent straying from the thread because people 'dislike joker and thats wrong', we're grown ups after all, but because we dont wish to encounter prejudice if there's a chance of it.

To keep it civil, everyone is absolutely free to dislike any character, if he/she can justified it in a decent manner. I know that hatred is rather irrational, but some of the reasons are sometimes ridiculous (as Victia pointed out). For example, disliking the looks of a pixellated person is a bit hysterical. I can understand that someone may have issues with the personality of a NPC, but Joker doesn't seem like a very flawed individual - he's funny and reliable... How couldn't you like the guy?

I don't post anything mean about other characters, because I basically like everyone. I even like Anora and Morrigan! Am I really that wierd? *feels lonely*

OK, there are some characters that make me go "meh", but not a real antipathy, is it?

If I could romance her as a female Warden I would have a hard time chosing Alistair or her.
 
Sadly, I have to admit that I have a slight dislike for a character mostly due to the fans of him/her (not going to tell which character) that I've talked with were douchebags. Not everyone, but like 70-90% :/

I understand that some fans might be slightly crazy, but they usually don't turn me away from liking a character. Joker is definitely lucky to have such charming, devoted, yet reasonable fans XD

The only character I really didnt like in origins was Goldana - no one talks to Alistair like that!! In DA2 its Varania - Really love really???!! I didnt dislike anyone from ME1, but Jacob rubs me the wrong way in ME2.

I agree Paterik us Joker fans are awesome - but then again he deserves nothing less :-D
