IDK what it is with Vietnam-era vets, but they all do seem to grow out ALL their hair now that they're out of the military. None of the Korea/Desert Storm/Iraqi-Enduring Freedom vets I know grow their hair out more than an inch or so. In fact, most of them keep it high and tight.

If Joker grew a ponytail, Sky would probably sneak up behind him with a pair of scissors, and Garrus to help hold him down. Lol!

The guys at both our local GameStops are really nice. In fact, at the one closest to our school a couple of people I know from school work there. I thought about applying since I'm a blond-haired, blue-eyed chick that loves RPGs. Most GameStops I have been to seem to have at least one girl on staff...maybe it's just luck. Lol. I once had a "oh-no-you-didn't" conversation with a guy at the GameStop back home, because I'd taken my friend in there so she could pre-order SWTOR for her fiance, and he responded to her, "Gosh I didn't know that there were TWO editions of the same game!" comment with, "Yeah, we get a lot of girls who come in here that buy games for their boyfriends or husbands who have no idea what they want. In fact, almost every girl that comes in here has no idea what they came in here for." I decided to have a bit of fun when I turned around and said, "Hey, there's a Mass Effect 3 N7 Edition person over here that CAN'T WAIT for that Normandy avatar prop!" My friend looked thoroughly confused, and the guy called back, "I said ALMOST!" I had a lol. :D

No idea how war vets didn't make it on my list. *puts head down and ponders this*
I also love playing with the people at the store. The best is when I go in with my brother and he is the one that doesn't know what it is he is talking about and I correct him in detail. The look on the employees' faces is priceless. They are astounded that the petite, long dark haired girl can talk while men are around. And then they don't say anything else to me the rest of time I am there. I heard snickering after we were almost out the door once and some creepy comments though.
I should cut off their pony tails. Now if I could just find some sheers . . .

BTW: I just convinced a 40 year old gamer dude to buy Mass Effect. I'm thinking of going into GameStop - the one that has not hired me because I'm a chick - and yelling: "BOOYAH ****ES! A girl convinced a guy to buy one of your over-priced games! Now who has balls?!"

Whatever you do, don't try to buy GameInformer without buying the subscription... actually, y'know what, go ahead and try to buy the magazine without buying a subscription. It'll dumbfound them all! Y U NO GET SUBSCRIPTION!?!?!? Lol

Ironically, the one person who was a fan of Mass Effect was a girl working there!

I already did that. The guy looked at me like I grew an extra head or two.

Me: ...You know what? $14.95 for the year you said? I'll take the subscription.

Nooooo! You're supposed to keep refusing the subscription! It will earn you notoriety! I did that, once. All I wanted was the May edition for the ME3 news (I don't read GameInformer, but I HAD to buy that edition). They kept pushing me to get the subscription, telling me about how awesome of a deal it is. I'm not a magazine person (ever since I bought a door-to-door sub for WWE magazine only to get bombarded with a year subscription to Vibe, I never trusted the system since). I also don't want to collect 11 other magazines that will just end up collecting dust somewhere. Besides, I get my news from the internet.

Them: This is a really good deal!
Me: I'll think about it. Just lemme buy the magazine full-price and I'll consider getting a subscription later.
Them: But if you buy a subscription, you'll get this magazine, plus a new edition every month for a whole year.
Me: I know. Thank you, but I'm not interested right now.
Them: Y U NO- (lol, just kidding... but I know they were thinking it)

They then had a problem ringing it up. So, I just bought something else and they threw in the magazine complimentary. According to them, I was the first person to refuse a subscription with a magazine purchase since the store opened. My reaction? Muahaha, yes! I will forever be known at this establishment as the first person to not buy a GameInformer sub! Victory is mine!

But yeah, my local Gamestop actually has some cool people working in it.

As to Joker having a ponytail? ...Naw, they just don't look good under baseball caps.

Well damn. I know it's been a few months since I logged in, but it was like Page 20 when I left.

Joker's got fans. Like a boss.

In regards to Gamestop, dunno who is
managing your guy's local stores but the ones down the road from me is
actually nice. I'm in S. Texas and the last time I went, they had a
girl behind the counter that still had purple dye in her hair that
hasn't quite washed out from her last 'con trip. I never had trouble
with the guys, and one even suggested I apply since I seem to know so
much (at the time) of the more popular RPGs. Me...a white female gamer
in within 30 minutes of the Texas-Mexico border and who speaks less than
the bare minimum of Spanish.

The manager is an ass with a smug smirk. And looks just like Casey Hudson.

I live in Georgia AKA Hotlanta. Things down here...well...change is slow. *in deep Southern accent* We're kinda stuck in a rut sippin' our sweet ice tea 'n waddlin' down the street with our ground-trousers. Yup.

LOL! Good thing this was at a GameStop that closed, then! I can gain even more notoriety at my GameStop.

Y'all are lucky to have nice people working at yours. Really. I've had only two guy employees who were nice to me over a course of four years. The others just stare at me like I'm a unicorn, and ignore my job applications even though I know what I'm talking about.

And I'm short and cute. Who doesn't want short and cute at their store? Ohhh, right...because I'm a redhead. They're afraid I'll suck out their souls to fill my own souless void. Pfft. Anyways. They'd get a lot more business if a girl was working there. They would appear more gender friendly. *nod nod*

As for answering my own inquery...I shall repeat this:

Never really had a problem in game shops, not even in the one horse town I grew up in. Not that my home town did have a dedicated game shop, more a combination newsagent, book and sweet shop that also sold video games.
Tiny, tiny town.

Comic book shops on the other hand I've always been on the receiving end of a serious "what are you doing here" vibe.

Today on an assembly someone asked if any girls played video games. I was the only one who raised their hand, besides one other girl who hesitated. Damn.

- If you do not agree with a romance, that's fine. So long as you have a
good reason and are able to discuss it appropriately, we will be glad
to talk with you about it as well.

I do not agree with the romance because I am tired of every character being "fair game" . It's like every thing that has a hole, shepard wants to abuse it.

Let's not forget, Joker is our pilot, our friend, are trusted ally. Some characters need to remain just friends. This isn't the loveboat.

Finally, Joker romance is just as inplausible as Tali romances. Both of these people have weak ass bodies and shouldn't be engaging in sex.

Without scrolling down to see it, let me guess what King Zeel posted: "AARRGH!!! NO!!! YOU CAN'T ROMANCE A GUY IF YOU CAN BREAK HIS BONEZ!! FANGIRLZ!!!"

I'll see if I was right after I post.

Edit: I was: right (X) wrong (). Hooray!!! (not that that was hard or anything)

Some people are naturally drawn to holes. You can't do anything about that, I guess.

Anyhoo, what shall we discuss? Is anyone in here entering the Joker contest on deviant art?

What would you imagine Joker to be doing on thanks giving?

Chris Priestly has said it dozens of times over on these forums: "If you don't want a romance, don't get involved."

Anywhoo... new discussion. Thanksgiving? I can honestly tell you that I have no idea... maybe dropping by the nearest spaceport and picking up a turkey sandwich.

Cooking an all out Thanksgiving dinner for the entire crew of the Normandy... Ha! No just kidding there, that is pretty much what I could never see Joker doing in a million years... and if he did... well that would ruin his character.

Hmmm.... if it's Thanksgiving Dinner on the Normandy for Joker I reaaally hope Shepard got those good ingredients for Mess Sergeant Gardner =) otherwise it might be best to stack up on a secret ration of energy bars next time they stop by Illium.

I vote Shepard kills the turkey for Thanksgiving. It would be an awesome mission: hunting the turkey with Garrus and Thane...("No, Thane! Don't use the sniper rifle! There won't be a turkey left after you shoot it!")

It will be a glorious hunt.

Yes! I love that idea. Ohh... what happens if you let Grunt try to catch it? Hmm... hope Joker has something else to eat. Might not be so much turkey left after all =)

Sooo, things are looking up for this thread, we have a troll! We need more cookies in case more of them show up :)
Are there turkeys in space? If so, Gardner would have loooots of cooking for Thanksgiving. One turkey per one crewman.

There's always at least one troll. XD Though things had been quiet on the troll front for a while. Ah well, their arguments never change, it's not like we haven't heard it before.

We'll find wild turkeys on some random colony planet. One per crewman? Geez, looks like we'll have turkey soup and leftovers to last seven months...we shall hold out against the Reapers! Lol.

I don't really like Thanksgiving, the idea just doesn't get to me, maybe because I'm European. But turkey is delicious!
@Sky: Yeah. It never ends. Generally it amuses me, but sometimes I'm really pissed off... Haters gonna hate, huh?

... well, i guess talking about the troll is better than directly talking to it... anyway

Lol Vic, English here too, i only know what i've seen on tv :P But i hate turkey, give me gammon any day...

I love that mission idea, Shep hunting the turkey xD ME3 should take place over the course of the year, with time stopping so we can each enjoy all the holidays! Awww a mission to pick a gift for Joker; you get a choice at several things on the citadel and each gets different dialogue. D'aww...
