 i am starting to really dislike edi/joker fans <_< i know people can have their opinions but where is the logic? its like in this day an age some one really dating their computer. some of their reasoning is a bit off as well like "they belong to one another" "joker will fall apart unless he is with edi" its just.... specially when they say they can't see two different alien species together but joker and edi yeah they can understand (angry face here)

Shep can date Tali in which she could die but totally cool
Shep and Thane visions totally ok
Shep and and Garrus shep could get really sick or die (can't remember which) NO PROBLEM
then Shep and Joker  OMG! hells no human to human contact HEAVEN FORBId!!!

not only has shepard been with him since day one, saved his life, then he was by shepards side in ME2.... shepard has more of a right to romance him then he does with edi specially since she is a ship. yes i Understand you don't need to be physical to have a relationship but some people are just dumb 

sorry if any one took offense to that just venting and saying my opinion on the matter. keep up the joker suppor and romancet

@carilynn I never did see any logic behind the Joker/EDI pairing. Seriously, it's a damn computer. An AI. It's as creepy as that episode of Futurama where Fry dates the Lucy Liu-bot. Besides I thought it was already established that EDI is more like a mother figure (and I use that term loosely by the way) because it is always telling him off. Yes I use the term it and not she, because it's still not alive.

And if I may be off topic for a minute guys, I've just applied for the perfect part time job, and while it might not change much I'd really appreciate it if you guys just kept your fingers crossed for me. It would be a great end to a kinda sucky year, I mean this is the longest I've been out of a job, it's driving me insane.

Back on topic. I'm wearing my SR2 hat. And Joker would totally have awesome abs, he'd do those desk crunches all the time. =P

but on topic, yeah I agree i sense the mother figure there, joker even says "thanks mom" its just baffles me how much people can be.. creepy over something mechanical that has a voice. people who like the pairing i just image some one with their toaster lol

also reminds my of KOTOR where there was that woman on dantooine obsessed with her robot. have no idea why. 

when you find that machine on the citedal the one funneling credits, where was it's romance thread? SAVE THE MACHINE!! lol

Oh my god I remember that woman on Dantooine, man she was cuh-ray-zee. That poor, poor droid, I ended up destroying it for both their sakes. But she creeped the hell out of me. Attachments are fine and all, but in the end they are just droids.

Jealous wouldn't be the right word. The face "O_o" would be the right explanation. Yes, as a computer nerd (woo!) I get affectionate to my PC just as Joker does to the Normandy. The idea however, that I would date my computer or in this scenario, date my ship, would be well.. confusing at best. No, I would not date my ship because no matter how much affection I hold for it, it cannot work.

Bioware likes to 'keep it real' or as close to reality as the universe allows; naturally having a human romance a ship/AI is impossible. I'd bring Cortana in as an example, but she's from another franchise and it may be against the rules of the forums. P:

You don't see people dating Geth do we?

Those Geth deserve some lovings.

Err...not sure if people here got the whole story but ME3 EDI isn't going to be a blue sphere. She'll be uploaded into a female body/robot. A female body that never ages, never gets PMS and probably won't ever ask for cash to buy silly handbags and shoes.

So storyline wise, Joker is hella lucky and any fan of his should be happy, regardless whether he can be 'romanced' or not.

I like how people consider the Joker side of Joker/Edi. But never stop to consider the Edi side of it. So i'm going to do it

Edi is an AI, she's a system made up of very complex programs determining her personality. She runs on logic, not emotion. The Normandy crew are some of the very best in the Universe, Joker included, just because she respects their abilities and appreciates having them aboard, i doubt it's due to "emotional attachment" to *ANY* of them.

Yes, i'm aware Edi's lack of betrayal could look like emotional attachment to a lot of people but i always look at it this way: Edi is effectively a War Ship. She doesn't take cargo from A to B, she isn't dedicated to scanning planets non-stop. She's a very large part of the War on Reapers. She's a goddamn War Ship.. To perform, as a War Ship, to optimum capacity she requires a good crew. She has the very best. She isn't likely to throw that away.

Yes, she interacts well with the crew, specifically Joker, in a manner that could be considered friendly. Which would imply "emotional attachment" but consider for a moment, if you will, Edi's constant poking at Joker during Mass Effect 2. At one point she admits that she's ribbing him because it improves his performance as a pilot. Way i see it, Edi's "friendly nature" and "emotional attachment" can be seen as Edi maintaining a stable crew and attempting to improve their abilities the best way she can.

Now with the lack of emotional attachment in mind let's consider this: Even if Edi *did* somehow end up in an artificial body. She would still be an AI, running on logic, and even when or if she did evolve enough as a personality to the point she can feel emotion, she wouldn't gain anything from a romantic relationship with an organic being. She's ARTIFICIAL. There would be utterly nothing gained from an AI/Organic romantic relationship, especially if that AI is a frigging War Ship.

Now this isn't to say Edi can't or won't eventually build relationships with people beyond War Ship and Crew. She might even, when or if she does evolve to the point of emotional attachment, develope friendships with those that she works closely with. But, really, what does an AI gain from romantic involvement with an organic? Bugger and all.

Also I completely agree with the EDI point of view it just doesn't make sense for her to want a relationship with a human.
I also think Jokers reaction to being asked if he is into EDI should be this line from Futurama (may have said this before =S)

Fry: "How can you date a ship, anyway? It'd be like me dating a really fat lady and living inside her. And she'd be all like *ship noises*"

ARGH MY EYES. Where's the brain bleach? I was trying so hard to avoid spoilers. Ugh. Do people read the title at all? I'm pretty sure it's clear enough that we don't want spoilers, because some of us want to avoid them until the final product releases and we can be sure if it's all legit. If it is, then fine, we'll live with it. But a human being in a relationship with a robot - a lifeless machine that complies data - makes no sense.

I totally agree with Sylvanpyxie's explanation. EDI's point of view is overlooked around here, and it's a fairly accurate one I believe.

I however don't think it's possible for any machine to gain emotions. The machine may connect the dots and understand emotions perfectly, but they have no way to feel them because emotions involve biological processing as well as a slew of chemicals. Unless they do something like on Star Trek with Data, and make an emotional processor for EDI. I don't think that type of technology is within the galaxy's reach just yet.

If Joker/EDI comes to pass, then it'll take some damn good writing to convince me that a human and a robot could work out.

Until then, that spoiler proves nothing in a Joker/EDI relationship. I shall continue to hope for and ship Joker/Shep.
