Ok, I filmed some of the video for Joker. I'll be coming up with some dialogue and scripted screens for the video from the old forum page and this new one. If there is anything you guys would like me to say about the joker romance for the video I'm creating please go ahead and send me somethings you would like Bioware to know about you wanting a joker romance. Holla

If played a particular way, Joker and Commander Shepard clearly have a close friendship.

He pulls the Commander out of an exploding Volcano on Therum and panics when he loses contact on Feros. He cracks jokes about corporate Noveria and sympathises with Shepard on the loss on Virmire. In fact he is the only character who acknowledges that whatever decision was made, Shepard didn't make it lightly. When the crew is forced to mutiny Joker is willing, able and raring to go, consequences be damned. When Shepard needs a way to get to Saren, it's Joker who finds the solution.

Shepard would not have pulled Joker off the bridge and dumped him in that escape pod, alone, if their relationship meant nothing. You don't take care of someone like that unless they're important to you. And whether it's gratitude, or friendship, or guilt or grief or something more than all of them combined, Joker is the first of Shepards friends to come back. He didn't need to be personally recruited and Shepard didn't need to gain his loyalty. Not even Garrus or Tali are this loyal. And in the end, nursing at least one broken rib, Joker breaks out an assault rifle to cover Shepard's retreat to the ship. He is so dedicated to keeping Shepard safe that he sacrified his own health to ensure that it would come about.

From Shepard's side, we have the option to go back to Joker after every story mission to hear what he has to say. These conversations show us not only that Joker trusts the Commander, but that the feeling is reciprocated. Shepard has someone on board the Normandy they can trust.

Given the right circumstances, a close friendship can develop into a romantic relationship. Joker and Shepard are already aware of each other's quirks, strengths, weaknesses,  (and in Joker's case) insecurities. They've been through two impossible situations, and each has saved the other's life more than once. I want a Joker romance because at this point, it would feel realistic. Two friends who have been through Hell's Revolving Door finally realise that they have deeper feelings for each other.

Just my 2 cents.

Very well put, and sums up my reasons and that of others very well. I especially like the fact that talking with him after every mission is a sign of trust - never thought of that before. I like it.

And good luck with the video Toony! We're all looking forward to seeing it. We can possibly post the link to it in the OP once it's done!

I want to let everyone know. I'm making a video for the joker romance group to ask Casey Hudson and the other people at bioware to please make a joker romance. I'm doing it right now. I'm going to try an make the video the best I can. Wish me luck guys. I'm showing my actual face on this video so you all will know who I am. I'll post the video when its uploaded to youtube. I'll have it done by tomorrow. This is one video I'm really happy about doing. Holla

Video? Hmm... Wondering if that's a good idea, considering Casey's tweet he made when he was annoyed. But then again, I am possibly (definitely) paranoid...

In which case, say that Joker and Shepard have been through it all together, there could be some great dialogue and expansion on Joker, since he might feel responsible for Shepard's.

Haha, I remember when I first started Mass Effect, when my friend (who introduced me to Bioware games) was there. After Joker makes his first dialogue with Kaiden, I was basically like, "I like that one," and pointed to Joker.

Just throwing this out there...

Bioware seems really into the "get to know your love interest" idea. As some of you have mentioned, the connection between Joker and Shepard is definitely there, and has been since the beginning. What if, and if this sounds completely outrageous, forgive me, haha...but what if their plan all along was to have Joker available for romance in Mass Effect 3? I mean, that would be the ultimate "build up" if he was finally able to romance in the last game. Shepard and Joker have had two whole games to get to know each other. I'm not at all against the other romances, but to me, they seem kinda rushed. I would damn well play through two whole games without a romance just to get Joker in the end.

Just my opinion, though ;)

I certainly hope it is...it would definitely be the most meaningful relationship in the game. I reeeeally hope this what they have in mind...if so, I kinda feel bad for all of us spamming them. I mean, that would be like a child harassing their parents for a gift that they have already bought. But, on the flip side, they might not have concidered this, so we may be enlightening them...oh boy...March can't come soon enough! :<

As for the video, man if you could mention some of the arguments about how it sends an unintentional but still bad message to pair an antisocial, disabled person with a robot because it implies he is not strong enough for real human contact and that hiding yourself away because you are different, shy, or not as socially developed comes with its own rewards -- that'd be great.

Yeah I kinda put two and two together and was just joking.

I thought that might be the reason so many of you feel so strongly against Joker x EDI. If I may play the devil's advocate here, it's based on the idea Joker is "settling" for EDI, but what if Joker actually really likes her (or it)? So it wouldn't be "nobody loves me" rather "my love transcends lifeforms".  I don't find Joker antisocial, depending on whether you mean reclusive or its actual meaning. He's not shy and was only reclusive in flight school because he was studying harder than everyone else to overcompensate for his disability. I'm not arguing aginst the weirdness (but it's weird for a ship to have human personality at all in the first place), but I don't think it has to be pathetic. Additionally, it could be really good tragic love story.  (see scruffy x washbucket :crying:)

Sorry but I really don't think Joker/EDI can be justified. No matter how you put it, EDI is still an AI, Joker still thinks of it as a sort of mother figure (jokingly of course) and it just can't happen. It is a computer, there's no way Joker would have any feelings for it.
And remember what he said about Samara (I think it was her) something about being all lithe and such, and he was watching an adult video at one point (the whole 'it was supposed to go to my ear piece' thing). So it should be safe to assume he can feel things for organics.
Point is there is nothing to be gained from a relationship with EDI, everyone should know that.

"You'd have to ask a... People person."
"Hey, I'm here for ya. Up here. With my things."
Sounds a lot like the stuff I say, and I don't really go to parties and crap. I'm a lot more social than I used to be. (I go out regularly and have a circle of friends now. Waaaasn't always the case).

Joker is a bit antisocial, and I do mean the reclusive side of it rather than the active sabotaging side of it. He holes himself away and makes it fairly clear that's what he's doing. He's compared EDI to his mother on more than one occasion.

Regardless of whatever he may feel, EDI is a machine and is not capable of returning any feelings and thus it is an unhealthy relationship. EDI may be "alive" in a certain sense, but alive =/= having emotions. That's why I feel it's bad to present it. It's his ruddy laptop for heaven's sake. A very advanced learning algorithm with a female Microsoft Sam voice.

Casey has spoken again! I think it's applicable to us as well as other shippers.

The tweet about "jealousy" is the one you're looking for.

And hey phantom...if you enlist now, it's not likely they'll pull you for boot before March is over.

I have a feeling that'd probably hurt Joker more then a flesh and blood Shepard :S

Sorry guys, couldn't help myself lol.

Robot EDI?

That would make me think of the episode in Twilight Zone called "The Lonely". It's about a convicted murderer sentenced to 50 years on a deserted asteroid and is given a robot for company in the form of a beautiful woman. When he has pardoned he must leave her there. It was another great story on the Twilight Zone but a sad one. Check it out if you get a chance. Rod Serling and his team made me start to love sci-fi stories as a kid.

Doubtful. It's very hard to imagine that BioWare planned on having Shepard finally romance Joker in ME3 since they first conceived the series. But that doesn't matter, actually. As some of you have previously said, Joker and Shepard have developed a strong relationship which would make for a great romantic one. I don't understand why some people seem to think that Joker's not romance material. I know that everyone has their preferences and whatnot, but unless you're a Joker hater (and I remark "a Joker hater"), I don't see why someone wouldn't like to romance a guy like Joker; maybe not with their canon Shepard, but whatever. Joker's definitely worth romancing. Kaidan is the most popular male LI, but I suspect that, if Joker already were a romance option, Kaidan would have a harder time gaining those LI popularity polls.
