I must admit I'm finding your reactions to Leramar's post surprising. Were people opposed to romancing Joker really such pricks? Sounds like some serious **** went down. I'm not certain why opposition to any romance should even exist given it's optional. That being said it is annoying if that's all you can do and if you don't/can't pursue the romance further convos get cut off (looking at you Garrus, he of the endless calibrations!). Hopefully this all gets improved.
For the record I agree you need deep friendships/ peeps that got your back as well as love interests.

Personally I'm a fan of Kasumi but I don't see her and Shepard actually hooking up. I see her more as his right hand and confidant. Joker would fill that role as well but in more social circles. If it's the female Shepard on the other hand, Joker is the only male in the series I'd hook her up with. Or Anderson. Keith David baby!

We've had a lot of a-holes come in here opposing the romance for immature reasons. Our Jokerite claws came out and we chased them away - a couple even returned to apologize.

I think what gets us most is their disrespect towards those people who actually suffer from Vroliks. Sometimes they don't realize it's a real disease, sure, but most of the time people are just being plain cruel. So, we get very defensive.
Sure we disagree with opposition, we just appreciate the fact Leramar was respectful.  Not a lot of people are respectful when they come in here saying they disagree with a Joker Romance; because of their rude post, we either ignore it or flame that person with the heat of a thousand suns. If a post is respectful such as Leramar's, we are glad and willing to understand their reasonable point of view.

Leramar's reason is Joker should be another Varric - a loyal best buddy to Shepard.
A troll's reason is "Joker will break" or something else I'm not going to waste time putting down because it's been said thousands of times. (Honestly, people need to come up with better reasons. Lol!)

"Joker will break" makes no sense because Shepard can take precautions - also, it's all in the OP. (The OP also states that trolls are not allowed, but who's reading anything these days?) It's also an opposition against Joker's handicap, and it's very insensative - and cruel to those who actually have Vroliks. <_<
"Joker = Varric" does make sense, and we Jokerites will gladly accept it if this should come to pass. We'll be sad, but we'll accept it.

In the end, if there shall be a Jokermance, it is up to the player to choose the flirt option or not.

I mean...come on...he has Goliath's voice from Gargoyles!  WHOOOO!!! And he's as loyal to Shepard as Joker is. Keith David also voiced Spawn in the HBO animated series, pretty much the best vocal badassery you will ever hear. I love Shepard but if Keith David was allowed to go all out, ME would just consist of him threatening the Reapers and telling them off. Instant victory.
But yeah Anderson is totally Shepard's mentor, regardless of gender. But if the female version can go for more she probably will.

It works like a charm, true, when it finally works. The process isn't that difficult, but you must be careful. You can notice that I have recently ditched my previous Krogan avatar. I had been trying to do it for the last three weeks. First of all, you have to make sure your computer satisfies the specs; otherwise the Character Creator won't run o will do very slowly. GIMP is very easy to use. I did five avatars within minutes. Once you have them, don't forget denying all permissions to the system. If you don't do this, the CC will overwrite your desired avatar with the pic of the character. And make sure your firewall won't keep you from connecting to the Dragon Age servers. You can create a character and save it without connecting to the servers, but the step of uploading info obviously requieres you being connected. You'll find the Upload Info button when you're about to finish creating your character. Once you have uploaded your avatar, go to your profile. Click the Profile tab, then the Games tab, then Dragon Age Origins - PC. You'll see there a list of your DA characters. Once your character(s) is/are updated here (in my experience, this takes 20-30 min), go to Profile/Change Profile Photo. You'll find there your avatars and you'll be able to use them immediately. Do it manually. Don't wait until they upload after hours.

@MissFish. I used the Character Creator.

I used the character creator. It took a couple of tries, and my first attempt took forever to load. But when I tried it again, it loaded almost instantly. Probably had something to do with the DA servers.

I had trouble because I originally saved the photo as "Joker" instead of "Joker_portrait." Then I did some switching of names (in the end, I just had to create a new character because re-loading the old one wasn't working), this time with the avatar's file name done correctly, and "Voila!" there it was.

Otherwise, if you follow the instructions in the blog to the letter and heed the cautions in the comments, it should work.
