Hello dear jokerites,

sorry for being absent so long but I moved to a new flat/city and had to wait nearly 2 months until I got finally my new internet/telephone connection established...

I have seen some spoilers on this forum so I can join you in the disappointment.

But I love Mass Effect, so of course I am going to play ME3 and I am eagerly waiting for it. My little hope is that not all of Jokers dialogue has been seen yet.

I am curious to see how the Kaidan and Garrus romance will turn out. And to see the great moments of Joker that Jessica mentioned.

I hope we can get this thread to 300 pages and further - to still show Bioware and everyone else how much we love Joker and that we still think he would be a great romance option.

And I just want to say to everyone here how much I adore you all. I simply love this thread.

I must say I always thought that there are only a few JokerxEDI supporters out there. I never saw a fan thread for it. And I think we made clear that we would like to see a JokerxShepard romance. It may be that this idea came from Seth Green itself, working together with Tricia Helfer. But who knows.

Hmmm... who knows? Maybe the JokerXEDI supporters are even more than you and I could imagine, but there's no thread for that 'ship just because it's a non-Shepard romance.

I don't know where the idea came from, but, unlike Sky, I totally oppose the idea of JokerXEDI. And this is not because of my wanting a Jokermance. I like the Halo games, and the only thing I totally hate of them is the insinuation of a romantic interest between Cortana and Master Chief. And now we have this very same thing in ME. It just doesn't make sense. I challenge not only the notion of EDI being capable of feeling, but also of being alive, a fact the JokerXEDI supporters seem to believe. I think they're mistakenly anthropomorphizing AIs.

Something similar was already done in the TV series Andromeda. It is not something new but that is not what I find bothering about it.

I can't help but get the feeling it would be a kind of marketing thing, given that the voice actor of EDI plays a hot kind of robot and if it is really going to happen EDI would only remind me on that person - something that would really affect my game experience - especially if the look is similar.

And some people really seem to think Joker would be the happiest man alive while being together with EDI - as if a hot body that does not age would be everything everyone needs to have a happy and healthy relationship.

I do like EDI - but what is wrong with her being a blue orb that is a great help and the voice of the Normandy? Why can't she just have funny banter with Joker and Shepard?

And I really don't want an AI with feelings controling the ship - what if she has a bad day? Even if it would be possible for an AI in this fictional universe to evolve feelings - in EDIs case it must have been a quite fast process, given that living organisms needed millions of time for it. And she must have learned to control it and not to show random feelings with no correlation to actions or situations. This is really much for an AI, that is a kind of advanced computer program. And normally a computer program can act only in the way how it was designed by the programer. And why am I always thinking of HAL 9000?...

I don't completely despise EDI, but I think to pair her with Joker is just...insulting...I could be wrong, but it just seems...so rushed. At the beginning of ME2 Joker completely despises EDI, and by the end, I personally feel like that he sees her as a necessary nuisance, and appreciates her help, but still doesn't like that she's there. To go from those feelings to a romance just doesn't seem right, but hey, I'm not working on the game.

Eliantariel brings up a valid point...if Joker is "dating" the ship, what if something happens in their relationship, EDI could do something rash as a result of an argument, or something she thought should have happened that didn't, the list goes on. Females are a bit moody, and I'm sure she would simulate normal female emotions. Granted, if her programming even allowed her to develop such emotions. I haven't seen the entire movie, but I also think of HAL 9000. If EDI got jealous, she could wreak havoc as the artificial intelligence that controls the Normandy.

I fully support banter between the two, because it's quite hilarious. It's kinda like Shepard and Legion. My Shepard really enjoys talking to Legion, but she isn't going to develop feelings for it, and Legion isn't going to develop romantic feelings for Shepard.

ANNNYYYWAYS, I feel like I'm rambling XD I like all this discussion, though! TO PAGE 300 AND ONWARD, JOKERITES

EDIT: Even though I personally don't support Joker/EDI, I will accept it if there is believable evidence and it is executed properly...I won't like it (I want Joker! XD), but I will accept it. Didn't want to sound rude!

Hmmm... I'd never tought about it in relation to MCXCortana. That makes sense to me, mainly because Cortana is esencilly a cloned copy of Dr. Halsey, whom I'd assume given diffren circumstances, would most likely have some sort of feelings.

Actully, I think I can make a decent argument with Halo!

If anyne isn't aware, the Halo cannon of AI is that they are created by sending electrical impulses through the brain of a decesed (or cloned) brain. They never actully created intelegence, just re-purposed someone else's.

But when it comes to EDI, she doesn't have the same advantage. She's purely artifical, with simulated emotion (Even Mordin says so). Even if you look at the personality of Cortana vs. EDI, Cortana is definatly more humansque (Hell, if she wasn't depicted as a hologram, I'd dobt she was artifical.) EDI definatly isn't human.

In summary, Compared to an AI that is actually (Technicly) human. EDI looks like a standard VI.

Of course, I'm probably getting to much Halo in my Mass Effect, but it's something to think about.

I oppose the idea of a EDIxJoker romance, a bit because she's always hit me as a more motherly character towards Joker and the rest of the crew. Eliantariel brings up a really good point, EDI seems to be a lot more human then most AI's in the Mass Effect universe, but then again, the only other AI's I have to go on are the geth. I can't remeber it exactly, but I know there's a point during a meeting where she states that she wouldn't harm any of the crew of the Normandy because they were her crewmates, which to me seems to be the start of emotional ties.

Also, Joker seems to sane to fall in love with a robot. After all he's been through with the geth, and the reapers, I think that it would be very odd for him to love an AI as a romantic partner.

I feel like that's all I have to say on the matter right now, I'm not agianst more friendly banter between the two though, I like EDI, I just can't see JokerxEDI at all.

I'm neutral, technically, on a Joker/EDI pairing. If BioWare can write it well, so be it. However, I will not be happy if the Joker/Shepard fan base, as a reward for much dedication to the character and franchise, gets an EDImance and an OOC rejection line.

I'm not that excited about the idea of EDI getting a body, though...*smells BSG ripoff potential*

I wonder what kind of fan reaction there will be if there's EDImance, but no Joker LI option. I know of a lot of friends who will be very disappointed, and probably plenty more people who don't post here at all. I can see it becoming extremely polarizing: maybe even enough so to get media attention.

Hey again Jokerites! All the Joker/Edi discussion makes me a little bitter but that's just my fangirl silliness.

Honestly, if they could implement it believably I wouldn't mind an EDI/Joker romance so much. As long as he's still an option for Shepard. It just seems so rude to not only ignore a rather large fanbase (as our pretty large thread proves us to be) but to also smack them in the face by putting him with an AI, a romance that most of us have stated clearly that we are against.

Oh EDI, what are they doing to you? You and Joker deserve better!

On another note: GUYZ! We're sooo close to our goal of 300 pages! Spartan Joker demands we complete our mission!

I guess we need a topic of discussion (that's not spoilery). Hmm... I got one: How would Joker in a relationship with Shepard react to someone hitting on Shep? I imagine he'd be the passive aggressive type, sending death glares and angered grunts to the flirter XD

And I can see Joker drinking too much and doing barrel rolls with the Normandy and giving EDI motion sickness.
