I would like to add one more thing to that statement, actually. Those of you who harbor ill will toward myself and others who enjoy the notion of Joker/EDI romance simply because we're virtually guaranteed to be getting it, //...//

//...//In came the nay-sayers that laughed at us and said, "Hurhur, Joker's with the ship's computer srry." Ever since, we've been saying "BioWare, why you do this to us???" It's nothing personal, at least on my end. Because of that, for the record, I hope you don't get tomatoes pelted at you...//...//

I think the worst thing about this come March 6th if there's Joker/EDI and no Joker/Shepard will be all the trolls... "Hate to tell you we told you so, but WE TOLD YOU SO HAHAHAHA." Ugh. It was bad enough when ME2 came out and BioWare had Joker flirt with the ship...this time, it won't be pretty. (Jokermancers, no matter what happens in here, for the love of God don't do anything to get the thread locked...like feeding trolls and becoming overly defensive.)

It's important to accept other people's opinion, even if you don't agree with them.
I think the trolling will be inevitable, to be honest. Some people on the internet seem to become very verbal when somebody else comes along with a different opinion.

Please remember that accepting is not the same thing as liking other people's opinion. You just have to merely acknowledge that there are people who see and like things differently from you. This is actually a good thing for variety and different opinions can bring good debates and discussion, as long as you can accept and not try to "convert" that person's opinion.

We actually need yay and nay sayers. History has many examples of what can happen if one side is lacking.
But yes. Let's hope the "Nanana bobo, stick your head in dodo" will be at a minimum when the game is released.

Oh. New page. I have a shoker comic that I made last month but it's a little big, so here's a link instead... [LINK]

i would be pretty mad if there was no Jokermance in ME3, not only because of his great qualities being wasted as just being a pilot and comic releaf and no time with my shepard >_> but because I played threw the game staying single for Joker. If he isn't a romance i would think I was wasting a play through for nothing.

Sure there might be Vega and other people I could romance but they wouldn't matter to me much because my Shepard will always be there waiting for Joker to notice that she likes him more then just a pilot,a friend, a crew mate.... i am sure you get what i am saying.

I love the Mass effect seris and will play it with or with out the Jokermance, but to get what my shepard has been waiting for since ME? it would just be the icing on the cake ^_^

As a lactose intolerant, I stay away from cakes. But I get what you mean :)
It would suck that what you were hoping the most for is not included in the game. And when other might whine at us for being sour, saying "But, there are so many other things that I'm sure you'll enjoy in the game".
Well, of course. But if you had your eyes on the marzipan rose and it gets taken by someone else or just thrown away, it makes you a little disappointed. It doesn't mean that the entire cake is bad, you just didn't get all of the things you wanted.

People are free to discuss everything concerning Joker with us, even JokerxEDI as long as everyone stays polite.

@Jeff: I was kind of surprised that you saw Joker and EDI direct from the beginning in ME2 as a couple. There was indeed Kasumis comment on both that they act like an old married couple but on the other hand they start with Joker nearly hating EDI and later commenting how much she remind him of his mum. And if you ask Joker if he is flirting with the ship he says that this is kind of creepy.

I must say I like EDI and I was kind of curious how she would develop in ME3 but more kind of if she is going to betray Shepard or maybe the key to destroy the reapers, as she is partly build from reaper tech. And as a blue orb I was sure that there cannot be a real relationship with Joker, more a platonic one like she stated on ME2. With a body things are a little different as I think it is more easier to fall in love with a human (or something that looks more like a human) that you can actually see instead of a blue orb, but again we are going to have the discussion if an AI is capable of evolving feelings or not.

This does not really matter as this is Biowares fictional universe and they decide if that is possible or not.

I would not like to have this pairing in the game, especially, if there is no JokerxShepard pairing. But I hope Bioware will find a way to please most of the fans, and this would be done by implementing both options - optional so nothing is forced. Those who like to have a ShepardxJoker romance can do so and it would be great if even in a playthrough where Joker is not in romance with Shepard a JokerxEdi romance would only be optional and thus be avoided by the player. Those who like to see the JokerxEdi romance could than have it and everyone is happy as everyone can play how they like to see the story develop.

Until now I have trust in Bioware because they normally find a way to please as much fans as possible and of course they cannot fullfill all requests. But instead of JokerxEdi romance, the JokerxShepard romance has a large fanbase and it would be more than disappointing to see only a JokerxEdi romance added.

Concerning Joker romance with Shepard only if Shepard stayed all games single: hmh, interesting, but from role-playing perspective you would have more options to develop the story if you could romance him even if you e.g. romanced Kaidan or Liara in ME1. And what about people who start with ME3 or ME2 and did not play ME1? Would be unfair if Joker would be only a romance option if you played all games. The poor PS3 players....

Nice comic! I think that really sums up how we were all feeling in ME2 - not being able to have a real discussion with Joker (with some exceptions) but merely listening to his comments. And not being able to tell him how we feel...

Well, at least I won't lack for lycopene. ;P

I won't throw tomatoes.  But I will hope that you understand why Joker fans (and even some of us folks who like EDI the way it was portrayed in ME2) won't be thrilled.

In the case of Joker, I don't think it's a good message to stick the differently abled person (with a real disease) with the computer.  It would be horrendous to say that a real person with osteogenesis imperfecta should never have a relationship with another living being, and they should just stick to hanging out on the internet and watching movies and tv for social interaction.  Yes, EDI is an artificial intelligence, but the fact is that it is still not a person.  If EDI had a male voice, or "computerized" genderless voice, would this seem as appropriate?  If not, think about why that would be.

Which brings me to EDI: I enjoyed the character, I think it's a fun addition to the crew, but it's obnoxious to make the AI an object of sexual attention just because the voice actor is Tricia Helfer.  Let's be real, this is the only reason people are finding this idea "cute."  If Gilbert Gottfried or Ving Rhames voiced EDI, it would still be the same character, but suddenly that Joker/EDI romance would seem weird at best and outrageous at worst.

EDI was fine as it was.  Joker doesn't necessarily need to fall head over heels for Shepard, but his character deserves a relationship with a being who can relate to his imperfections, whom he can live with and possibly grow old with.  Not trying to attack anyone who thinks differently, just my two cents (and I'm typing this on a cell phone, so this was a huge frikkin effort =P).

Of course, I never meant anything different. By "naysayers," I meant the ones that would want to rub it in our faces once the game was released. There's going to be no way around it. But at least we'll have our dignity intact, right? We've been a very loyal and respectful fanbase, considering.

I love the comic, Yukiko, it makes me smile every time I see it. ;D I totally envision my Shepard doing the exact same thing when she goes to talk to Joker!

You know, I had an epic idea to make a documentary of our efforts...to bad we're only about 2 months away and it would be a total time crunch. XD

Well said (and well typed especially since it was done on a cell phone!)

I like EDI and I get people who say Joker having a relationship with her would be "cute", but to me the message it sends is not cute at all.

What you said about EDI being voiced by a different person was something I hadn't thought about and it actually makes a lot of sense.  If EDI didn't sound like a hot woman, would people be so keen on having Joker with her?  Having a female voice and even being put in a female-looking body does not make EDI female, as an AI EDI is genderless.  Is it only the voice put to the glowing blue orb that made some  people see Joker and EDI's dialogue as flirting and the only basis on which they could see a "romance" with Joker as acceptable? Something to think about I guess.

Joker deserves, and can get, a real live person.  I would actually be less upset if they'd put him with another living being instead, even if it wasn't Shepard.

Well I think a Jokermance would be more about how Shepard is willing to support Joker with coping with his disabilitie's, a relationship is never easy it requires that both people can over come the problem's they'll face together

I will not be one of the ones throwing tomatoes at the people who support EDIxJoker. I agree that there is a very simple way to appease both fan bases without favoring one or the other. If Joker gets turned down by Shepard, it could be very plausible that he would be extremely upset...and then turn his attention to EDI. That way, it doesn't seem as if he's going for EDI automatically, and therefore he doesn't look so desperate. Joker hardly ever goes off the ship, and I'd imagine he doesn't get much interaction with other people outside the crew of Normandy. If he has developed feelings for Shepard, then Shepard turns him down, I'd imagine he'd go for the next best thing, which in this case would be EDI. I, for one, would be happy for him if this were to happen. I am not totally against EDI and Joker, I'm just against the idea of Joker immediately going for EDI without trying anyone else.

As for the relationship with Joker and Shepard...I like the idea that having a Shepard that goes through the first two installments gets a better chance at romancing him, but this leaves the PS3 players...of course there is the Genesis comic that allows you to choose your LI for ME1, and maybe that could flag a PS3 player's file as "single" for a "Jokermance Hopeful" for ME3. Maybe if Shepard has gone through the story single up to this point, they could share a more deep and meaningful relationship and there could possibly be an option for Shepard to say that she/he has been holding out for Joker. I believe that choosing not to romance someone via Genesis comic on the PS3 version should also yield this result, so that everyone can have a fair chance at the, what I will call it "Perfect" romance instead of a "Normal" romance.

In order to trigger the JokerxShepard romance, and to make it fair for the people who support EDI, I personally think Joker should say something a bit flirtatious to Shepard, where s/he can politely deny it, therefore canceling the romance with Joker and allowing him to pursue a romance with EDI. That way, the people who support EDI and Joker won't have to watch him spew his emotions to Shepard. And for those of us (and I only say "us" because we are in the Joker LI thread XD) who wish to pursue a romance with Joker would either simply ignore the flirt, allowing it to continue (where it should happen a couple more times, so that the EDImancers will have a fair chance to stop the flirting before it triggers the romance with Shepard), or have Shepard show some sign of interest.

There is a way to make us both happy, Bioware! I trust that they know what they're doing and will have the fan's best interest in mind when it comes to this...after all, we have been incredibly nice to each other and we haven't really caused a flame war...unless you count the trolls :/ The Joker fan base, and the EDI fan base are probably the most laid back fan bases on the BSN. The EDImancers really don't bother the Jokermancers all that much (unless of course, they're trolls, which both sides tend to ignore them) and we can come together and actually have an intelligent argument and conversation opposed to an all out flame war. That has GOT to count for something!

Like Talimancers and Final Fantasy VII fans, we'll have tomatoes thrown at us for bringing this devil upon you for years to come.

Just saying. >_>

I've got nothing against Joker/EDI supporters. I just don't like when some come in here and troll the thread with "Silly Jokermancers, Joker's totally with EDI! *blows virtual raspberry*" posts. I have no problem at all when y'all come in and civilly discuss views on Joker/Shepard and Joker/EDI. It's kinda interesting to see both sides, actually. Sure, I'll be disappointed if we don't get a Jokermance, but don't expect any tomato-throwing from me.

EDIT: Formatting...also it kinda sucks to be a PS3 player. *sobs*

I don't think they would exclude a character for romance depending on what console your playing on. It's a bad move, imo.
But yes, let's not lose our hope just yet! Perhaps move to a more happy topic?

I won't throw tomatoes either...many. XD

I can totally understand why BioWare would pair Joker/EDI.

Doesn't mean I have to like it. I can accept it, but I don't like it. AIs have no emotions. None. Zip. I don't see how the relationship can be healthy, or how it can last. Or maybe Joker's just into that, and we don't know it yet. I mean...sure he loves the Normandy, but I've always seen it as a gamer's love towards her game console.

"Scratch it, I'll break your legs!"

That sort of thing.

As I've said before, it would take good writing to convince me otherwise. And MAYBE I will end up liking the development...but right now with the information given, not likely. If BioWare makes Joker/EDI the only option instead of balancing it out, we will have several depressed and wrathful gamers.

I did your survey, very interesting questions!

About this documentary idea, I've already bounced the it off a couple of friends who are into doing fim, and they absolutely love it. I think it would be very doable in 2 months...probably even just a month. Since I'd be arranging for a lot of the filming and stuff, I'd probably host it, but I would love to have others send videos of their own that I could include. I'll let y'all know if I can get it to pan out, but I'm thinking we could focus on the large fan support that Joker has, including fan art and fan fictions... Again, I'll see if I can even hope to make this a reality, and if I can, I'll put out a call for interviews and permissions to use fan fictions, art, and whatever else we can think of. I mean, I don't think it would change anything up to this point, but it would definitely make BioWare sit up and take note if it's done well.

Speaking of fan fictions...I need to write more of mine. XD

@ Bismth - Seth Green recorded 12 hours of dialogue for Mass Effect 3. What is contained in the beta leaks is most definitely not 12 hours of dialogue.

Also, we don't talk specifically about the leaks, as they are not official and we want to keep unofficial spoilers out of the thread. We theorize about what could happen, based on what we know, and we discuss that, but we won't specifically refer to the beta leaks. However, we do have a group that we use to discuss them between just those of us who have read the beta leaks (which is not everyone here in this thread), and it's called "Spoiled by Joker." I'll direct you there to talk about the leaks...we want to keep this thread leak- and spoiler-free. :)

Don't sweat it. :) We Jokermancers are the masters of the art called "Wall of Text." XD

"I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar."

Totes could hear Joker saying this in ME3.
