If you think that's crazy, I used to have this dream about an old man sitting in an empty library holding a glowing disk of some sort...

Then I played Assassin's Creed Revelations.

My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw that scene. I'm still freaked out. Lol!


As for EDI being replaced by a personality core...I approve.

i wouldnt worry too much wynne in the draft shep can kind of put a stop to the joker/edimance by nipping it in the bud if he/she says a certain thing to them

Same here, on all counts! EDI should be EDI, not Number Six. Hell, I feel like Shepard would be a better match for EDI, because at least he respects her--Joker's character is such that leering comments are too much a part of his character to avoid the epic ick factor. I love it about him, but... not towards EDI. That's so gross. She and Legion are still like very intelligent children, but at least Legion has had some experiences outside of his home.

I can see an AI love interest if it received a physical body somehow, but not when it's still so tied up in the whims of its creators as EDI is. Development is caused by exercising your free will until you've achieved autonomy, until have learned the basic skills necessary to understand what you want out of life and start grasping it. EDI will have just been born. A very intelligent 14-year-old in an adult body is still a 14-year-old, and not equipped to deal with adult relationships and sexuality no matter how much she's read up on the subject or how many extranet videos she's seen.

Real life experience cannot be crammed into someone's head in an instant. If we implant her with someone else's life experience, that could speed the process, but then she wouldn't be EDI anymore. That synthetic experience would make her a different personality.

It all reminds me of that whole imprinting thing from Twilight which horrifies and squicks me just as much because it resembles grooming, a negative psychological process of manipulation intended to prepare an individual for sexual exploitation. I do not want EDI being groomed for Joker's sexual pleasure or the pleasure of any other being in any way, shape, or form.

I like EDI. I don't want to see her being used, no matter how open to new experiences she is! The very fact that AI don't know the reasons to hold back on engaging in relationships because organic behavior is unfamiliar to them is leads me to be nauseated by the thought, especially if that draft had anything right about it. (Potential very minor spoiler ahead.) Sure, her being on deck being "good for Joker's morale" is very funny, but it's also disturbing because she clearly doesn't catch the implication as an organic being would. That's exactly why it's gross.

That would be a welcome relief, if they at least let us put that in... but then if both characters are silent most of the game because of it, then it would still suck pretty bad. :/
