It's hard to find ME fic that doesn't tear down the ME1 LIs in some way. You're reading a okay fic and suddenly Kaidan was a stalker on SR1 or he's painted as a complete douche because of Horizon.

Yeah it would probably be low. ...And Joker is really prickly to Shep at first so I don't see many lovers (especially not with the story he gave about school)

This is what I suppose too - he was so focused on being the best in school that during this time he surely didn't watched out for a lover, maybe before or after, but I don't think he had many relationships.

Quite possible that even if he was really interested in one person he was maybe to shy to get things started.

I would love to get more information about his past, hopefully during a private talk with Shepard in her/his quarter....

If there is a Joker romance how dyu guys think it'll be implimented? Like do you think it'll have to be femshep initiating it or Joker saying something? I would much prefer the latter

Yeah, I would rather not have Shepard pounce on him like a tiger (*cough* Jacob *cough*). I'd rather Joker initiate it with a slip-of-the-tongue and have Femshep trap Joker in it and push it along with those subtle female hints, kind of like what she did with Kaidan.

Whatever romance options there are are really hope it's more in ME1's softly softly approach that ME2's loyalty mission-flirt-flirt-sex.

I'd rather Shep initate it for those people who just want a friendship with Joker. I felt awkward when an LI that my Shep isn't interested in hits on him and can see other people feeling the same way. 


Plus I have a feeling Joker's pretty good at keeping those kinds of things to himself and Shepard would need to drag it out of him. I want to be the pursuer. Makes things...fun.  (and less annoying for those who aren't interested in a romance with the character)

My fav Joker fan fic is Tiger By My Side =) I read it and then re-read it *sigh* It's a bit of Kaidan in it. Femshep and Joker.

I hope he doesn't. I don't want the chase to be too easy.  I want some push and pull with Shepard hitting on Joker with him laughing it off until Shep keeps on doing it and it sinks in to Joker that Shep...just might be serious. (Then of course the serious times conversation)

I have no clue. But it's annoying as hell and it turns me off most fics. Kaidan was a bit bleh on Horizon. That doesn't make him a monster. Just have Shep go "screw you Alenko." and move on. It doesn't need to turn into a soap opera.

That is true - unfortunately, romance in ME1 is quite hard to avoid and if Shepard does really not show any sign of interest Kaidan and Ashley should normally not except otherwise from Shepard, but they do and this is why it feels forced and this feeling seems to be added by some fans to their fics.

And concerning Horizon I believe the people who did not play ME1 have really a disadvantage because they don't get to know the main characters in ME1 and all the things Cerberus did. So the behaviour of Kaidan and Ashley on Horizon is very difficult to understand.

But I think Horizon adds some interesting possibilities to the role-playing of your Shepard, because a Shepard that romanced someone in ME1 could realise in ME2 that he/she has stronger feelings for Joker.... 

I hope that if we get a Jokermance in ME3 that this is possible even if Shepard had a LI in ME1 or ME2, it would give some more possibilities for role-playing.

EDI even says they have a more familial relationship when Shepard asks if they have something going on. *shrugs*
