LOL, Phantom that scene is amazing!

Thanks, Pika! :D
Are you guys going to use your first ME3 play through with your Joker hopefuls to find out if he has a romance or not?

That gif tells the story of my reaction. Posted Image

I love that picture though. It'd be adorable if Joker himself had a little tat of the Normandy. Some people get them of their partner, after all, and who's Joker's partner more than the Normandy?

Jokerites, we are all in agreement. Viggorah's sigs are gorgeous, Sabrea's art is fabulous, and Superpineapple's gif tells the story of us all.

SPOILER TALK: I want every dev to see that gif, if only because it's hilarious--I think even someone who disagreed completely would laugh and be able to understand why we feel this way. I mean, I still love them, and I even have faith that the whole will be greater than its rough draft parts, but DEAR GOD, what were they thinking?

I can't imagine a worse scenario. It's a blatant, cheap BSG ripo--I mean, reference (not that I didn't love BSG), and exploitation of Tricia Helfer when I was so impressed that they did NOT use her that way in ME2, and an insult to disabled people all at the same time. It's also... SO not realistic as a plot device. SO shallow and immature as a relationship. SO much the antithesis of the thoughtful science fiction I thought Mass Effect was.

Apparently all it takes is for boys to take a look at Tricia Helfer and their brains soar out the window along with their good sense, landing in the yard with a deafening, icky splat. And yes, I CAN blame them for it.

I'm going to miss actual!EDI which existed as a character apart from Joker's bizarre libido. This imposter is creeping me out before I've even seen it. Apparently they played Joker for comedy instead of having him be the character we enjoyed so much for his subtle depths alongside his humor. Now, unless things have drastically changed, he's just a clown. I don't know how I'll take him seriously and not be grossed out at the cheap parody of himself that he's become, even in the serious scenes.

I guess I'll be missing Joker, too. I hope there's enough else to distract me. Maybe I just expect more than I've gotten before. It's sad. I thought this game would be the one-upper, the game that blows the other two out of the water, and NOT just on a gameplay and soundtrack and graphical level. Now... I just don't know. If I take this one decision out of context, then I start to think ugly thoughts, especially after how the leak-readers talk. Did they really go Paragon=good, Renegade=bad like some were fearing? Is TIM a cartoon villain instead of a sympathetic one?

All the emotional moments that I loved in the beta and trailers... have those moments for Shepard cost us quality and/or quantity of the characters we loved the most? Did they really not listen after ME2 when we said we wanted more closeness with the characters and not less? Did they change their minds about the VS mattering much?

Ugh, I need to go to bed. I'm in a depressive mood. :( I'll sleep on it and see if it goes away. Take care, everyone. I enjoy peeking in here even when I have to study and can't say as much as I normally do.

^ Augh, that's really depressing! I just watched the gif up there and I really hope that BW isn't serious about this--uh--how do you call it? I think it's just out of character. I'm more used to see the Joker-EDI relationship as a mother-child relationship. And I don't really see any "romancing" part back then. They're just good friends (I think). And if they're going to push through this WITHOUT sufficient reasons, imho, they're going to destroy both characters... Just saying....

(Not really good at voicing out opinions. Sorry for crappy grammar and logic)

Oh and hey, darn--I missed 300! Oh well, at least we've already achieved our goal ahead of time. I wonder what will be our next goal? 10,000 replies? :)

I dunno Wynne, I think getting down and depressed about things isn't the way to go about it. Though, I share your sympathies 100%.

In the end, Shepard is the most important character, and it's Shepard's story. I, for one, am glad they decided to make Shepard more emotional and overall, better. It probably didn't cost them anything, because they've probably done that for all the characters. It's going to be an overall very emotional story. I can tell you that from what I've read so far, no one is getting terribly neglected in ME3, and the VS will be a big deal. No, they can't bring every character back as big and as involved as every other one, because each character has their place in the story...and geez, there's only 20 of them.  They have also told us many times that all paragon decisions won't necessarily give you the best, shiny ending.

If Joker/EDI or no Jokermance is the only thing wrong with this game, I will be so incredibly happy. Like, you have no idea. Granted, It will be like having a smudge in the corner on my otherwise perfectly-clean glasses...it will be annoying as f***, but I won't rage over it. Would I rather have perfecly-clean glasses? Sure I would! But c'est la vie...we can always hope they'll do something for us in DLC, though it is unlikely.

And, who knows? I'm not convinced that leaked beta script is as rough a draft as they're saying it is, but you never know. Hopefully someone got smart and realized that they'd p*ss off a major fan base if they didn't include the romance, especially at the expense of new characters like Vega, and they did what they could. I have faith in BioWare with their own creation. I mean, they've only been working on this for 8 years now.

Oh, and guess who has an exam on March 6th? *LE SIGH* Oh well, I'll just study like a boss beforehand. And, as a consolation prize, our spring break is the week after release week, so I'll have PLENTY of time to absorb it. :D

Edit: OOOOO! I love that Normandy tattoo! I might have to ask the artist if I can use it, because I'd love to base a tribal-style tattoo around it.

Meh, I still think it's an old draft. The demo it was ripped from was old as heck and barely finished. And BioWare knows what we like and what we hate.

But let's move on from such depressing things, shall we? Seth Green DID say we were going to be happy, so...that gives me hope.

Well, it wasn't so much "Stop making Rice Krispy Spaceships" as it was "Stop eating crap and staying up late working on outrageous projects." I just found a creative way to present such resolution-breaking...and it got me noticed. Lol. That Normandy was tasty, by the way... I had to leave the rest of it to my fam, though...I don't think the TSA would let be bring it through airport security. XD

Note: Anybody not wanting to know anything about the leaked script as pertains to Joker should not read this. Though I'm not sure if anybody like that is still on the forums by this time.

This does make me feel a little better. Thanks, Sky. I think last night I was really just having a mood, you know? The gif made me laugh because it was so true, and then it made me feel all :crying: because again, so true...

And of course it got kind of confusing when there are supposedly several drafts floating around and none of them the up-to-date drafts, and some people on these forums in the other character threads have been saying "X character gets only one mission and then unceremoniously dies! Several popular ME2 squadmates just flat-out die because it's war and it happens! X character has almost no content! The VS is barely in it and what Kaidan says at the beginning made me never want to touch him again/made me like him for the first time!" So it's like WHAAAAAA *mind explodes*, you know? I don't know what to think lately. So I guess I fall back on my "optimists can never be pleasantly surprised" default and just go, "everything shall suck!" to protect myself from the even worse fate of hoping and then being crushed.

Seriously, I could  stand no Joker/Shepard; it would just be my head canon. But if there's EDI in a new sexbot body and it's not just some little sideplot at the end that you can ignore, but it's an actual ongoing joke in the game... I just... it wouldn't be like a smudge on the glasses so much as trying to enjoy yourself at an evening gala in a fancy dress knowing that you have a giant clump of hair gel jiggling around on your head and trying to ignore it while hoping no one else will notice it either. I can pretend it's not there, but I'm going to feel it no matter what I do the whole time I'm there. And if it won't wash out... *sigh*

Sometimes I feel really weird about that. Common sense tells me that only a weird minority would actually like Joker/EDI in practice rather than theory, but common sense isn't always right. Who says we're a major fan base? People love Joker, but do they love Joker/Shepard? Supposedly FemShep players are only 20% in the first place. Then you split that for Kaidan, Thane, and Garrus...

Maybe we are more plentiful than they think, but I really don't think most Joker fans are the vocal type.

(P.S. I loved your Normandy!)

You mean... this quote? "Joined by the awesome @TruTriciaHelfer for our 2nd round of #ME3
records. You guys are gonna be REALLY happy."
To which he attached this pic? http://twitpic.com/5sah74
Yeah, that's probably a good sign.

Add to that Seth Green lamenting last time that she was a computer, so he couldn't mack on his co-star (you know, playfully, not seriously, but still)... yeah, it was a joke, but I can easily imagine him pushing for Joker/EDI, him being charming and funny, and everyone going along with it because he's Seth Green. Like, "yeah, sure, we could make that happen for you, buddy. That's the magic of sci-fi!"

Add to that uglynoodles/Interjection/Sorrel's comment in pineapple's gif thread: (highlight to read: Since you've already spoiled yourself: Don't get too excited. I have it on pretty good authority it made it into the final. The words 'I'm sorry' were used.) , aaaand I think we're now 100% screwed on that count. I've already started the grieving process.

For the first time, I'm considering canceling my preorder. Not that I necessarily won't get the game, but I just... I don't know if I'm so excited about it anymore that I want to pay $126 (the version we have here in Belgium is missing things, and the UK versions I could find were just as expensive or worse when translated from pounds to bucks with shipping added on.) It's like... do I really want to spend so much when somebody made *this* bad a decision? Not to just leave Joker/Shepard out (if that's the case), that I could understand despite not agreeing with it, but--to put an element I find not only unpleasant, but actually morally horrifying in its implications the more that I think about it? Do I really care about bells and whistles in the face of something so awful, and not only awful, but apparently, actually a final element of the game just thrown in like careless comic relief? Do I even want to financially support something so repugnant?

I don't know. Maybe I should go and ask an actual dev one-on-one before I do something that drastic, but... I doubt they'd be able to reply anyway. Just more, "that was not the final script" or "wait and see."

Feeling really disturbed right now. I'm so sorry, I know I must be depressing people... it's just, what I read on that thread pretty much removed all my doubt and replaced it with horror.

And the worst part is, most players won't even think of it that way, like most Twilight fans don't seem to be bothered by the idea of imprinting. They think it's romantic.

I don't think the cost is worth it after all. Why would I be proud to have an N7 patch on my backpack if this is what it means?

It's not your fault, Rhi. Not your fault at all. This is the responsibility of Bioware, not you.

Optional is good... well, no it's not, but it's less mind-bendingly awful. Still, the subject will be broached, and people will be on the forums crowing about how it happened and how "great" it is.

@Ryzaki--Yeah. :/ Unbelievable. I would have preferred anything, even Joker dying heroically, to this. At least his character would've been intact.

I don't know, maybe I just have an insane amount of hope (which could either be a really good thing, or a really bad thing), but I honestly believe that Casey and the team know what they're doing. I'm sure that draft was just what they said it was...a draft. I know from writing stories myself that the story I started out writing is not the same exact one that I ended up with. There is no telling at what point that draft was made. It could have been one of the very first ones. Maybe Joker/EDI was an "inside joke" they wrote in temporarily.

This is just me and my personal views on the situation. I'd rather be hopeful and optimistic than depressed or worried about what's going to happen. I am worried, but those feelings usually don't surface. I'd rather look back on the situation (even if it had a bad outcome) and think "I did all I could, I never gave up hope" than to just let it die away. :)

Like I said, this is just me. I just wanted to share my feelings XD

Even if we don't get Jokermance, we'll still get awesome Joker moments! At least he wasnt forgotten! :)

EDIT: whew my fingers are tired. I typed this from my iPhone XD
