Hey everyone! Have you read the new blog post by Lead Writer Mac Walters? It made me so excited for the game even more, but it also made me think that we might actually get our Jokermance. Might be making a big deal out of nothing, but I figured you guys might want to read it as well.

What in it made you think that? (for some reason I couldn't read it)

This quote is the main one that made me think about a Jokermance. Probably making something big out of nothing, but hope is all we have right now.

"It’s not about the destination or the outcome—it’s about the moments you share with these characters. Yes, of course, some of them can be romanced, but where’s the fun in knowing that ahead of time? I honestly think you’ll enjoy each of the characters more by not knowing." --Mac Walters

I also got this feeling, but I think more because he mentioned getting to know the characters even more than the last two games (he did say that, didn't he? I read the article this morning so I'm not completely sure)
And we sure as heck have had two games to build something.
And yes, the whole "mystery romance" point. Let's hope!

Sorry if I have trouble getting my point across.

I cried while reading the "Personal Relationships" part. So touching... and it's late and my toe hurts, so that might have had something to do with it, too.

I am a sucker for relationships in video games. The connection one character has with another (as well as myself; go vicarious-ism!) Like Tali. When she died on my first suicide mission I started crying like... something that cries a lot.

I mean, I'm pretty sure we could all give our own, varied opinions on characters, and I love that we can do that! That we can learn so much about a character and even develop certain opinions and feelings of/for them. I love games that feel so real in that aspect. Thank you for that, BioWare! ^-^

And that gave me hope on a Jokermance, too! Heeheeheeheeheeeeeee. (<---my evil giggle)

Just read the article. And it got my hopes up again. Man did it ever get my hopes up again. I just want Joker to be romance-able so much because he's a funny and smart and determined and intense and...and...I just do ok? He suits Shepard.

On the TV tropes Fridge Brilliance page regarding Liara: when she rejoins you/you join her, you don't need to do her loyalty mission to unlock her loyalty power - because she's always been loyal (also plot armor but we'll ignore that). Same with Joker. He never needed you to do something for him, he just wanted to fly around with Shepard and kick some collector ass.

Note: this isn't me character bashing, it's just pointing out that Joker kinda has 3 things going on in his life 1-Flying, 2-Reaper butt-kicking, 3-Friendship with Shep. Shepard has similar things going on in his/hers 1-Reaper butt-kicking, 2-Warrior Therapist-ing, 3-Helping Random Strangers (or messing up the universe further), 4-Trusting Joker to haul his/her butt out of the metaphorical/literal fire.

Lol. That's me! Expressing feelings with no justification since 2012. (Ok realistically since my whole life but you all don't need to know my real age ;))

"In Mass Effect 3, one of the topics that will come up—for those who are
looking for it—is Shepard’s personal relationship with those closest to
the commander. For some characters in Mass Effect 3, it’s been an
emotional roller coaster ride with Shepard, and they’ve got something to
say about that.
"

Direct quote from the article that made me go

And I've yet to finish it.

Yes, I loved that article. Like you Deadly, I am a sucker for relationships in video games - I'm a closet hopeless romantic. I swoon for Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, as well as Christian in Moulin Rouge. I love BioWare for the reason I can develop virtually real relationships with these characters - and I LOVE we will be receiving more reactions from them due to our choices. Learning about people is a guilty pleasure, I like knowing what makes them tick, what makes them feel one way or another. I don't outright ask them, I just learn over time and piece it together.

Which is another reason why I want to get to know Joker better! He's the nut that's hard to crack, and I want more! XD He always seems focused on Shepard or the Normandy, I can't wait to get to know him better.

@sly, Yup. Me too. Please, please, PLEASE let that be a hint. I would love for that to be a hint.

Also I spent so much time the past two weeks writing Mass Effect fanfic that I am way behind in my schoolwork. And yet I just want to write more fanfic. But...graduating is important. ME3 is coming out at an inconvenient time.

Edit: No that's not true. ME3 is coming out at a perfectly convenient time. It's the rest of my life that's being inconvenient. :P

I really loved what someone else said about that blog post from Bioware. They said something along the lines of how they became floored when they realized they could flirt with someone they didn't know about in Jade Empire.

I will admit, part of me does not want to know if Joker is an option until I see a flirt come up in my own game play. When I played through ME2 I was floored to find out I could flirt with Garrus. I never even thought about him being an option until it came up. Of course I will be thinking a lot about Joker being an option, and putting a lot of hope into every conversation... BUT the point is that I actually would like the shock and surprise of finding out on my own. I imagine that I would probably squeal like a little school girl and jump up and down in my chair. This would probably warrant strange looks from my husband, who would then start cheering with me when he found out Joker was a romance option. He loves Joker's character and really wants to see him become a romance option for my Shepard's. :D

Apparently I'm good at that today. Damnit I just want to write some stories and then play ME3. What is this work business everyone's going on about?

I want to find out on my first playthrough, but I don't want to accidentally flirt with him in that pt. I play my Sheps in the order that I created them, so Kara always goes first, and Kara's still hoping that after the whole Reapers thing is dealt with she and Kaidan have a shot. If Joker is an option, however, I may have to forgo the whole order thing and skip straight to MacKenzie. Because I've been wanting that option since, well since two years ago I think. And man if I've been waiting two and Mac's been waiting four, that's really just not fair. (Everyone else has an LI already).

You know, I don't think Joker would be impressed with these feelings. Buddy got crap from his instructors for taking his training too seriously. And here we are being like "Man, forget school. ME3 and Joker!";)

Seriously though. I'm counting down the days. This weekend I will be finishing as much of next week's homework as is humanly possible, just so I can game to my heart's content when ME3 does come out. There will be a very content heart (hopefully with some Jokermancing).

Aww all you guys with schoolwork, I feel so old, I graduated nearly 8 years ago :s

Oh well, my only obstacles are my fiance (who isnt really an obstacle as he'll be playing it on Xbox while Im on PC) and my two girls, both under 5.

I'll just get them to love Joker as much as I do, my youngest likes sitting on my lap while I play and laughs her head off when I yell at my computer cos I'm dying on insanity lol.

:D

Haha sly I already graduated. This is my second time 'round the block. I'm not as young as you might think. (Also young is relative). My boyfriend thinks my gaming is endearing. Sort of. But he can't complain because he's a bigger gamer than I am, we just have different styles. I'm a marathoner (think, 8-10 hours a stretch if I can), he's more of a sprinter (1-3 hour blocks). He also likes different types of games. I've been trying to get him into Mass Effect but he's a completionist and a bit of an achievement junkie, so for him it's more of a chore than enjoyment. Sad. It would be nice to discuss our pixel romances and compare notes. Lol.

Just have to get through one more week. And then 8 hours of class and a 1 hr commute on release day. Havn't found out if my store's having a midnight release. They didn't for DAII so I'm not hopeful.

I...am jealous. It's crunch time for me right now because of the way my program is set up. I really won't get decent playtime until Friday. And even that might be a stretch. Man. Responsible adulthood is so not for me.

Aww...all y'all talking about school makes me miss it. I originally went for a Literature degree, so I had to read and write papers constantly, but I loved it. Then I didn't go so I can save money to pay out of pocket since the school I went to wasn't expensive. Then I got laid off. Someone up there has a sense of humor. <_<

So, I have a lot of time to play ME3 (and hopefully romance Joker) - unless one of my friends asks me to edit her papers for her. XD

*delurks*

Well, just as a note, remember that you could flirt with people in DA2 that you couldn't romance (like Aveline)... Just because a flirt is there doesn't always mean it'll work. Bioware is mean like that sometimes :P

[edit] And as another note... I misread the quote, thinking it said flirting = romance option for sure. *facepalm* That's what I get for trying to read and post things past the time that I should be sleeping. [/edit]

I'd love for there to be a Shepard/Joker romance, but I'm not optimistic of that ever happening... unless they do ever decide to do some sort of LI DLC thing like has been mentioned. Which would be awesome. I'd buy a DLC pack that expanded on friendships/romances with characters. I love conversations with characters in games.

But on the note of being surprised... I prefer knowing who can be romanced so I know who to go after :P I didn't know that you could romance anyone in Jade Empire the first time I played through as that was the first game I'd played where romance was even in option... I probably never would have learned until years later, if my brother had asked me if I had done a romance when I played (he doesn't care about romances in-game, but was under the impression that there was some sort of side quest involving the romanced character and he was wanting to know if it was true).
