I have your story favorited just so I can read it.  I haven't had a chance yet, with Joker and Kara taking up a good portion of my time, and now with a new one (Vali - she's only being posted on FF.net) - my reading of other people's works has really slid downhill.  Can't wait to finally crack it open though!

Now, as far as main Sheps with the game and who to play first - I haven't even started my main in ME1.  I've got those who'll be my 2nd & 3rd playthroughs (Kaidan & Thane)... I've got one who I'd love to have with Zaeed (she's the one whose story is solely on FF.net), and one I romanced Jacob with just so I could get the funny dialogue from Mordin (bad when you romance someone for a conversation that isn't even with the LI, right?).  But Kara... I haven't played Kara yet and she's my Joker girl.  When it gets closer to ME3, then I'll create her and take her through the game so she's ready for her flyboy.

On a personal note, how did everyone come up with their Shepard's first name? Was it just in the moment or did some thinking go behind it?

Alan Rickman deserves a frickin' Oscar, IMHO. Just saying.

^^ I was actually quite good with DA2 - kinda learned my lesson after ME2. LI's, weapons, leveling up system, etc dont mind knowing but storyline related in a no no :-)!

@trapper - ouch - i mean perfect analogy but ouch!!

Alan Rickman is really underrated by the industry so I dont think he will ever get an oscar even though he deserves one 10 times over :-)! I also thought Matthew Lewis was great as Neville - really pulled out his A game :-D

I only have one Shep at the minute - accidentally deleted my other playthroughs a while back.
But my main FemShep is called Anya. I nearly always use this name in RPG's, but it doesn't suit any of my characters nearly as well as Shepard. It means grace, merciful, inexhaustible. So I think it suits my mostly paragon (blonde) Shep rather well 
Plus for some reason I like to imagine her mother as part Russian. Despite the accent I can't imagine Female Shepard being fully American, or from someplace like New York. So for that reason she's a spacer as well.

Depending on whether we get Joker for LI Anya is either for him or Kaidan.
She'd totally suit Joker though, with her snarky wit and an appetite to match

Most of my Sheps are named after my pets (and attempts made to make them look like human versions there of), I am really bad a naming and creating characters without some sort of reference, and esp with femShep I really dont like her defaut look

I named my femshep after a close friend of mine who passed away a few years ago, I don't know why, I just felt it fit at the time. My Lanah has come into her own personality though and is nothing like the real Lanah, except for her love of flyboys (My friend was a huge Wash fan.)

My manshep, is named Marcus because I am uncreative, my fiance's name is Mark and it just seemed to fit lol.

I'm trying to do the same thing over here, LI's, weapons and little bits regarding story is ok. But not big major spoiler plot moments. Those are best exprerienced in game   =)

Hoping that they will reveal the new LI's who are available before the release of the game.... I can see myself being more and more hyper while waiting. Seaching for tweets and so forth.
Let's hope they will make us  super-glad or put us out of our misery         sometime before that.

If I'm not mistaken europe get's the game a few days after USA and canada? If that's the case and they haven't revealed Joker's LI-status I'm hoping that some brave souls from the Joker-thread who get's the game early will be able to get so far in the game that they can tell if you at least can flirt with him before I get my hands on the CE. I know I'll be waiting on thread for any news   =)

yes 9th March for us in europe so at least we will get some kind of news about Jokers LI status pre (our) release! Just have to remember to be careful about what you click on lol

Wow! Glad to hear it! I was trying to think up a name for my mainshep while I was teaching a class, and one of my students' names was Skylar, and I kind of mashed Skylar and Shepard together randomly into my head and it clicked. Plus, with my love of flying, Sky was a perfect name for her...also perfect for Joker. Her name collapses down really well, too. She's SkyShep. Lol.

I woke up today and, much like a kid who realizes it's his birthday, I realized today was Thursday... Comic-Con starts today! More Mass Effect 3 teasers! 

Though, I don't think it's healthy for me to be watching the coverage... I just got over the footage at E3 (the days have stopped being long, again) and I just know once I see a new demo, Ashley in her new-and-improved armor among other things, I'm going to start pacing again, watching my countdown gadget with eager eyes...

I will definitely play ME3 with my Joker-Shep first - I am so curious to see how they will include the romance with Joker that I can't play with a different Joker until I know every detail about it


I am not so creative with naming my Shepards but I try to find names that I don't associate with people that I know. So far I have Eryn, Sial, Elena, Leah, Eve and Ann and different playthroughs with some of them. Leah is my paragon earthborn-war hero Joker Shep but my Sial (renegon/earthborn/torfan) is meant for him too. Ann (spacer/war hero/paragon) romanced Kaidan in ME1 and will be faithful in ME2 but I can really see her falling for Joker in ME3....

I never really had a main Shepard but this is likely going to be Leah or Ann (but only if she can romance Joker in ME3).

Oh and I wanted so say something regarding the Seth/Tricia twitter news. I am really happy that they share some informations and photos with us, it is nice to see the progress of the game and get an impression how a game development is done.

And concerning these Joker/EDI rumors:

How much information do we receive concerning EDI? They tell us fans will be happy/flip out because of Joker and what happens in ME3, that Joker has a lot on his mind and much more, but always concerning Joker and no word concerning EDI in all those twitter news. Would they not tell us something about EDI and a "development" if they are going to make a EDI romance? There are so many tweets about Joker but how much information do we receive about EDI?

So - in my opinion they have much new and funny banter between EDI and Joker because the fans love it and they already said that ME3 will be darker and funnier than ME1 and ME2. For the funny aspect they have Joker and EDI.

And I can really see EDI helping Joker and Shep coming together.

I can imagine that some NPCs that we know might be dying to increase the drama in ME3 and it would really hurt me to see Anderson die for example. But I don't think this will be happening to Joker - maybe in one of the worst end versions where including Shepard nearly everyone is going to die. But not in most of the endings and not in the happy ending - Joker is part of the Normandy and what would Shepard be without the Normandy? 

They want to make the best game ever and we will have multiple endings. I am sure that there will be happy endings beside bad endings so that the player has more reasons to play the game several times and not only once. To kill a character (without a way for the player to prevent this from happening) that is loved by so many fans like Joker (regardless if the like to have him as romance option or not) will not please the fans, so I don't see this happen.

Eliantariel - You put that really well and I agree - I dont think Joker/edi could ever work and I dont think bioware would do that to us! It is difficult to get caught up in twitter and read more in to it than is there, but you are right most of what we have heard is Joker related and not edi! My hope sre still up about a Shoker romance. I think with release being so far off it makes the little tip-bits we are getting harder to not get carried away with

My first Shepard for ME3 is going to be John, my main (infiltrator/paragon/colonist/elysium). Sorry fellow Shokerites, but I need to see him resolve his relationship with his valkyrie (I am of course talking about Ash and no, I did not just rip off Sin City... okay, maybe I did, so what? Rofl). Bioware tells us that there's going to be a lot more romantic-type actions during dialogue (ie: touching, kissing, massaging, embracing, etc) and I just have to see it with those two before anything else! Diana, my *hopeful* Jokermance Shepard (adept/paragon/spacer/akuze) will come second. As for why I chose her name, I just liked it (and maybe it had something to do with Wonder Woman, I don't know. Lol). No picture yet because I haven't started playing her PC counterpart (and I am not taking one of those hokey pictures of my television screen).

Yeah my single colonist/sole survivor/adept Athena Shepard will be my first playthrough, mostly cause I have done absolutely everything in both games with that SHep, plus she and Joker are a great match ^__^

Well, I had to house sit for my then-boyfriend-now-just-friend one day, and I put in his copy of ME to play since I was bored and intregued by him playing ME2 a couple days prior. I couldn't think of a name for my Shepard, so I went with my cat's name, Sandeh. Months later when I get my own copy, I went with a more human sounding name, so that's how I got Sandra.

For my other Shep, Serenity, well...I'm a Firefly fan okay? XD
