I still think Miranda and Jack are two people who would have an intense time together. If they weren't separated by an organization that pits them against one another and had the opportunity to look at each other, I think it would impossible to separate them after the fact.

If they were friends, jack would totally be a bad influence on miri. One of THOSE relationships.

I can see them falling for one another. Usually differences  can bring people together if they aren't stubborn enough to focus solely on those differences. Not to mention the stark contrasts in behavior and personality just rings of traditional attraction of opposites. I could see them ignoring the flaws in the other only to get closer and connect on the very deep similarities that make them kindred spirits.

I don't subscribe to the idea that "opposites attract". Relationships rely on shared interests to function.
Miranda and Jack have similar origins but they have developed in very different ways and are, ultimately, very different people.
Should Jack mature in ME3, I could see them getting along better .

I think he would be more liked if femShep didn't go cougar mode on him during the romance. The priiize line didn't help either.

I like him quite a bit though. I feel they dropped the ball on his loyalty mission. I remember forumite Nightwriter posting an alternative idea of him revisiting Eden Prime instead months back or so. It sounded way more interesting than the one in game.  I also admire Jacob being able to fully deal with his "issues" without the need of Shepard being his pyschologist.

subscribe to what your subscribing too.  Infact thats one thing you learn in pysch 101, birds of a feather flock together, is more true that opposites attract.  I do think people generally have to have shared values to start, which they really really don't. If not that, then similiar experiences, and they don't there either.  I think if jack resolves some of her issues by ME3 than it can be a different story. gotta admit, jack has a ton of baggage in me2

I thought the lm went ok?  And never played a femshep, but have heard about, the "prize" line for awhile.  I always liked jacob- and by always I mean after I played the game for awhile. He's straightforward, a real good guy and doesnt have a ton of baggage. Basically just really well adjusted team member. and thats got value.  Going to eden prime does sound like, "win" however.

Jacob is able to get through his own dealings and really doesnt have any kind of deep personal scar, or rather the ones he does have are "well healed."

@MisterJB

I didn't say a relationship, and definitely not the routine kind springing from shared interests. Those are boting, who would want to read or hear about those? I meant a spontaneous thing that inexplicably takes on a life of its own. A memorable period of time where they are enamored by one another through understanding each others shared pain. Speaking from experience as well from literature and film, finding understanding in someone else through an experience you both share can be a very powerful thing.

Jack doesn't lack maturity, she lacks understanding and a sense of connection to other people. While her view of people may be misguided, it doesn't stem from immaturity.

That may be so but I insist that Miranda and Jack would both have to change in order for them to reach an understanding. Jack could not accept Miranda being part of Cerberus and Miranda would have issues with Jack living only for herself.

Jack doesn't lack maturity, she lacks understanding and a sense of connection to other people. While her view of people may be misguided, it doesn't stem from immaturity.

Debatable but Miranda thinks so. She calls Jack a child.

Because no two people who ever had things they hated about one another have gone on to have intimate and sexual relationships. That never happens...

I'm not arguing for longevity, but merely a brief period when they realize that they're actually much more similar than they are different.

If they were to be dating in a formal sense, then your argument would be rational, but I'm not advocating that since I don't see a formal relationship being something either one could stomach for a long period of time. They're both too independent to be tethered to someone for too long.

It's easy for Miranda to say that since they're essentially enemies in the game. I don't see how that rules out a hypothetical.

That's most likely the point we can't agree on. You say that Miranda and Jack are much more similar than they are different and that's what would bring them together. I say that Miranda and Jack are much more different than they are similar and that's what would keep them apart.

Can two people who hate certain things about each other have intimate relationships? Maybe but if I had to suggest a pairing that functioned on this theme, my first tought would be Miranda and Kaidan.

Edit: Also, I can't help but disagree with your assessment that neither can be in a formal relationship but that's only because I'm an hopeless romantic.Image IPB

Did anyone see this:

Yvonne interviewed by Examiner's Matt carter :

As a big 'Mass Effect' fan I know 'Mass Effect 3' is coming back, and I know you voice the character of Miranda. I've talked to Adam Baldwin a little bit in the past about voicing characters for video games, but what was the experience like for you?

Well 'Mass Effect 3' is not official yet, so I will neither confirm nor deny your question / comment there. (Laughs.) But I did do 'Mass Effect 2' and that was awesome. Voice stuff is very different because you're sort of in a booth by yourself with no one except the director.

They did use my face in 'Mass Effect,' and it looks like me and it sounds like me. It's great to be able to do some voice work in my own native accent as well.

An odd reply, 1 1/2 months away from game release...

Although now it seems more likely that she did do it and is contractually obliged not to say anything until a specific period in time...

I could see her being just as obligated to not talk about it, not being apart of the VA crew if things didnt work out in the later stages.  I mean why wouldn't they just confirm- hey she's in. Or hey she's not in.  seems like something else is going on doesn't it?

Well it's a better response than what I got when I emailed Mordin's VA...

This pretty much confirms that she will be back for ME3 considering Grunts VA said the same thing in an interview some time ago.

I find it really bizarre that you've got a big name actress doing the round of various shows and they've still got a complete NDA slapped on her. You'd think they'd want her to be building up hype for the game.

@Veritgo Yeah, i'd also like to think that, and i believe this is now more likely, considering her answer was a bit coy and she also laughed when she gave it. However the only possible reason i can think of (that makes absolute sense) for still not confirming anything about her, is that she hasn't recorded and they don't want to anger the fans before release (especially if i consider what wright1978 mentions above... it's weird)

Well they haven't revealed Vega's VA and a number of other VA's from the previous game and like I mentioned before Grunts VA has said the same thing during an interview...

I'm thinking they want to keep some under NDA till they announce the official list (which is why she said that above), again this is better than what Mordin's VA said "No contract and no recording done"

I'm surprised that the interviewer asked her about this, I was expecting the show she was on tonight would (I didn't watch so I don't know if he asked too)

I think you are probably right Vertigo. Just as someone who's spends his career in marketing i think it strikes me as being rather inflexible/poor handling. They've allowed some VA's to talk about it already. It is hardly a shock Yvonne is doing the rounds given Chuck as finished. Piggybacking on that publicity would seem sensible to me. I'd be briefing her with a limited scope to answer those questions that would build up hype rather than forcing her to give non answers which will mean subsequent interviewers will avoid Mass Effect quesions.

@wright1978

Exactly my gripe with all of this. Myself also being from a marketing background, it just doesn't seem logical (not to say downright stupid) not to take advantage of this. I mean i could understand a sort of hesitation on their part earlier on, but now you have Yvonne already doing a round of interviews promoting the finale of Chuck, the Sobe skinsuit photoshoot (which is droolworthy to say the least) and you have her answer no comment regarding your product that is coming a month away? The more sensible thing would be for her to confirm it and say some generality about what a fantastic experience it has been and how different it was from Me2 or some other banal sh*t. That way you say nothing you don't want to and build up excitement.

Their stance really makes no sense to me...
