Jimmy Kimmel? I doubt he would ask about ME3...

Wasn't he the one that had the early preview of Uncharted 3 back when it was first announced? And Gears 3 as well?
Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong late night host...

Jimmy Kimmel kept bugging Mila Kunis about WoW as well.

I don't subscribe to the idea that "opposites attract". Relationships rely on shared interests to function.
Miranda and Jack have similar origins but they have developed in very different ways and are, ultimately, very different people.
Should Jack mature in ME3, I could see them getting along better .

They have very different personalities. I can see them getting along, especially after having been through the SM together (provided Jack had a significant role in it), but ultimately they are too different to become friends. Jack's primary MO is the antithesis to Miranda's, they'd have a hard time do anything together without arguing unless driven by the utmost necessity.

Exactly my gripe with all of this. Myself also being from a marketing background, it just doesn't seem logical (not to say downright stupid) not to take advantage of this. I mean i could understand a sort of hesitation on their part earlier on, but now you have Yvonne already doing a round of interviews promoting the finale of Chuck, the Sobe skinsuit photoshoot (which is droolworthy to say the least) and you have her answer no comment regarding your product that is coming a month away? The more sensible thing would be for her to confirm it and say some generality about what a fantastic experience it has been and how different it was from Me2 or some other banal sh*t. That way you say nothing you don't want to and build up excitement.

Their stance really makes no sense to me...

It does make sense to me. Given the typical attention span of the press and consumers, you'd want to keep some important advertisable facts about ME3 to reveal closer to the release date. It's just our luck that Miranda's VA made it into the "to be delayed" list.

(BTW I agree the Sobe photoshoot is fantastic. She's so beautiful that it hurts. Says someone who usually objects to too much Strahovski-gushing on this thread).

EDIT: TIW.  Doh.  Seen that before a lot too.  Brain fart.  Agree with jtav, that would be an awesome ending.

We named our favorite proposed endings
*"The Illusive Woman" (Miranda as the leader of humanity's STG),
*"The Foundation" (Miranda as a leading scientist pushing the envelope in human enhancement technologies like Lazarus), and
*"Into the Sunset" (Shepard and Miranda leaving Citadel Space).

Miranda joining the Alliance didn't make the list, and wasn't proposed as a possible ending until the leak. Technically, the TIW scenario would require some oversight, but recall that Mordin says oversight is limited for the STG, so if humanity's STG is modeled after the salarian one, she'd still be rather independent.

Wait, what did Garrus do? The Alliance and Council I can understand, but Shepard and Garrus?

Given some of Shepard's lines, it took me serious roleplaying effort to take Shepard out of the slot "dumb action hero with the emotional range of a brick". I even made a thread about how I don't like ME2's Shepard as opposed to ME1's (Hmm...where was it again? Yes...here).

And things don't appear to improve with ME3's infamous "We fight or we die, that's the plan".

As for loving the wrong people: count me, too, as one who likes Lazarus Station Miranda. She has the professional detachment a woman in her position and her job needs. Whatever she is in personal relationships, I've always thought she should remain more like that when acting in a professional capacity. Miranda has my respect in part for that trait. (which makes her CB line so galling - it appears she lost it there).

@Ieldra: What do you imagine Miranda would dub the human STG reborn from the ashes of Cerberus? I've been digging for discussion about it, but I can't find any.

I agree with you, but how much closer?? It's practically a month till release! So how much closer? A couple of weeks from now? If so, wouldn't it be strange (and even stupid) to pass up an oportunity to piggyback on the promotional tour the star is already doing right now for other projects than yours? Build it up slowly here and then go full force 3-4 weeks before release! This no comment thing they have her on seems very suspicious...

Before it seemed mostly negative but after her coy reply in yesterday's interview (and the fact that she said nor onfirm nor deny and laughed) it seems just plain strange...

Oh and the photoshoot... yes it does indeed hurt. and it's not just that she is incredibly beautiful, she is also ridiculously fit....

I think that was Jimmy Fallon since I remember him playing Skyward Sword, BF3, and MW3 also on his show.

Are you asking about the name she'd select for the new organisation? I have no idea. Back before the leak, when it appeared possible (if not likely) that Cerberus would conform more to its ME2 presentation, some people argued that she'd keep the name, but now we know (as most of us already suspected) that "Cerberus" is compromised beyond recovery.

Right now I'm coming up blank when thinking about a name. Any ideas?

The thing about Miranda starting "Humanity's STG" rather than salvaging Cerberus is that more likely than not it would have to be sanctioned by Alliance Command. Post-Reaper War nobody is gonna let "another Cerberus" conceptualize. Salvaging the old Cerberus is about taking what's already there and re-purposing it. Just throwing it out there.

Yeah, what she'd name it. I've been reading a little about Greek mythology, trying to find something tangential to Cerberus. Kore is a goddess of regeneration responsible for plant growth on Earth, but she's also the ruler of the underworld, so while she creates life, she also recognizes the necessity and usefulness of death, and mothers her own through both.

She herself is the very life for which she holds responsibility. She is the grain and the blossoms, and in spring she sprouts then grows. When summer reaches it’s end, her physical life dies and Kore returns to her place in the underworld. She reveals the positive side of death, showing us that everything must come to an end so that new things may be born.

This could symbolize the organization's pragmatism (ruthlessness?). Willingness to do what needs to be done.

The name Kore itself means maiden or virgin. In regards to Kore and many other Goddesses, the word virgin does not hold the same patriarchal meaning that it holds in today’s society. Iinstead it means a woman belonging only to, or true only to herself.

This could symbolize the organization's uncompromising commitment to humanity.

So... maybe "Kore." Does that work?

In retrospect, it seems I'm thinking more of a repurposed, Miranda-led Cerberus than humanity's own version of the salarian STG. Admittedly, I never thought about what the difference would be.

I was thinking ATLAS (Titan that supported the heavens on his shoulders). Good for an acronym. All I got so far is Alliance. Tactical. and Logistical.

I'm not even sure why Cerberus is called Cerberus in the first place. I'm not overly familiar with these stories.

Cerberus is Hades' dog keeping the dead from leaving the underworld. Charon (Earth's ME relay) is the ferryman that transports the recently deceased to the underworld.

Cerberus in effect was a mythical guard dog/monster that guarded the gates of Hades (underworld)...

Phoenix is a good and apt name for the situation. Also Atlas is quite good (as the organisation is figuratively holding the fate of the world on its shoulders).

Kore (pronounced kori) is not that suitable a name i believe as it actually means daughter in greek.... Not a strong resonance i think

What about Gilgamesh?

He is like an anti-hero. He is first a tyran, but after meting Enkidu he changes.

Why use Cerberus for the name, though? Why ATLAS? What symbolism is involved?

Btw: Alliance Tactical and Logistical ASsignments

Phoenix is a little too cheesy for me.

Cerberus is the three-headed dog who guards the gateway to the underworld in Greek mythology. The original reasoning for the name - given as part of the Cerberus Manifesto - was that the organization was to be a kind of guardian dog for humanity.

As for names, in the "Foundation" ending, Miranda's organization for scientific advancement and human enhancement could be called the Prometheus Foundation, after the Titan who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to the mortals. He has since become a symbol of human craft going beyond the limits set by the gods, something Miranda also embodies within the ME universe.

Excellent point and name!
