huh?

We all know which group that is. No need to bring it up here

Sorry for bringing that up again guys, but the fact that Yvonne is still under NDA kinda strikes me as very odd as it did to many of you... the only reason I can think of to hold her of saying anything is that she won't voice Miranda in ME3, it wouldn't make any sense to prevent free publicity of the game like that, either this is the same kind of lackluster and C grade marketing Bioware is known for or in fact Yvonne wasn't/couldn't be recast as Miranda in ME3 and they want to avoid fan reaction.

Now I really wanna know who's voicing Miranda... not that it'd make or break the character but still.

It's incredibly stupid and pointless avoidance (Best case), or it's her being recast.

ViSeirA, Lemon, I think you're jumping to conclusions. In fact it appears as if her tone in the interview heavily suggests that she will, in fact, be back.

I also explained why it is not stupid to delay the reveal until a time closer to release.

I'm much more concerned about Miranda's story arc and how it might fail to showcase her independence and competence. And her dedication to advancing humanity....

I can't say what's happening, but it's not as if the game isn't getting the publicity either way.

For the moment, I advocate not spiraling down into bitterness yet again.

Plenty of time for that later, if needs be Image IPB

I think it's safe to say that everyone wants this.

What I personally want is more interaction, outside a few dialogues, and for the romance to be good.

I'm less concerned about that than I once was, to the point that I think it's fairly likely that some of my more... jaded remarks following the leak may amount to a total and complete epic failure on my part. We shall see.

What Bioware gives, Bioware takes.

And about Miranda dying, I had an idiotic scenario.

During the war Shepard betrays Miranda (she dies) and gives Oriana to her father to get assets. After the war, Shepard physical condition is getting worse, for something related to Lazarus. Ironically every Lazarus information was purged for Cerberus databases during the war, and the only person who could have helped him is dead (Miranda).

Then during a night he sees a gosth from his past, Miranda. He believe that he is dreaming, when Miranda stabs him and then he noted that it sn't a dream. The ghost he sees is in fact Oriana (who killed and runned away from her father). Then Shepard dies and Oriana is a fugitive.

Too bad that I don't have enough imagination to write a ffic...

It IS a conclusion, though a very viable one. I also read your explanation, which makes sense from a marketing standpoint to consumers who are not familiar with the series, you'd want them to take the news so close to release they'll make a snap decision and buy the game, but even a month before release isn't close enough so it still doesn't make sense. It's marketing 101, you either build the hype and keep reminding people about your star cast or do it so close to release people won't forget about it, to me it seems Bioware is doing neither and already we know about most of those involved with the game... Yvonne alone won't make that big of a difference, damn it's like the DA2 marketing fiasco all over again, a month before release and people were still wondering if the mage vs. templar or Thedas vs. Qunari conflicts were the main themes of the game and where do you think we'd still be standing if it weren't for the leak? it's not just Yvonne, it's the entire marketing strategy for the game.

Anyway, when it comes to Miranda's story arc I think it's safe to say her dedication to advancing humanity is put on hold, the only part where it can be properly acknowledged or accentuated is towards the end game or in the epilogue (if there's one).

Err, you two realize she couldn't confirm or deny her role in ME3 until it was official right?
Interview: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/325/index/7625709/1042#8967036

It's the same thing Steve Blum said about VO work for ME3
And it's better than getting the straight up "I haven't recorded for ME3 yet"

Yeah, I definitely think it basically means she is back as Miranda, but she can't confirm because BioWare hasn't said/revealed anything about Miranda yet themselves. It's a different situation than, say, with Raphael Sbarge. It was known & official from the beginning Kaidan would be back and as a squadmate so most likely Raphael was never under any contract to say "I can't confirm anything yet"

Well, that's sort of what we're talking about... not why she can't confirm or deny, but why won't Bioware let her do otherwise (especially in the case of her actually being the voice of Miranda in ME3).

Likely because they are going to put out the official list next month.
They haven't let Vega's VA say anything either (we have no idea who it is) and none of the other ME2 exclusive squad has said anything either (aside from DC Douglas since you hear him VO Legion in the E3 demo)

And does that make sense to you?

Edit: Vega - understandable, let the fans hear a line or two (we did hear him talk in the VGA trailer)  by him and speculate about who the VA is.

The rest of ME2's squad? they're not as high profile as Yvonne or Martin Sheen or Carrie Anne Moss, now you wanna cram all those in a VA list you'll release a month before the game comes out? good marketing!

Maybe not but what Vertigo says about other unrevealed ME2-exclusive squaddies is correct and makes sense.

I'm thinking they made their minds up as to who can be revealed and who can't yet, likely the reason we got to hear about Jacks VA the moment she started doing VO work, don't ask me why, I don't know what Casey and the PR team plan is aside from having a full list coming out next month.

Also, just because she can't say doesn't mean she was recast.  If that were true then most of the VA from ME2 were replaced!

Well, I didn't say it is definite she was recast, I just said that it's a completely viable conclusion... and all of that still doesn't negate the fact that we're getting bad marketing, if anyone has been keeping up with KoA: Reckoning since the beginning will know what good marketing is.

I think part of it may be because of the backlash they got from ME2 marketing (too many spoilers etc).  Probably took it to the extreme but they are keeping things close to the vest as long as possible

EDIT: It's also a viable conclusion that she wasn't recast.  Again her response is better than getting in touch with a VA only to find out they haven't done VO work at all.  They don't make them sign NDA's for that (in this case I mean Mordins VA)

As pure marketing? Perhaps not. But that's not really Bioware's strength.

Anyway, if Strahovski really isn't doing the role, she's certainly doing a good job of making it seem like she's being coy about it. Not sure why she would bother, honestly, if that were the case.

Good point flemm . If she didn't VA Miranda, why wouldn't she tell us about it ? Professionaly speaking she was probably asked not to reveal any content about the game by BW .
As an example, Beattie didn't hide from us that he didn't VA Mordin for ME3 .

In any case, we'll be relieved ( or not ) next month with the VA cast announcement .

I was going to say the same thing. Would BioWare give her a NDA if she WASN'T working on ME3? (Optimism) Maybe the fact that she can't talk about it is actually confirmation that she is doing the vo?? (/Optimism). I'm hoping she'll mention something on Attack of the Show tonight which is normally pretty video game oriented. She was there for an interview on Mass Effect 2 I believe. They mentioned yesterday though, that she would be talking about her "new" movie Killer Elite :?. Guess we'll see. I wish BioWare would just end my misery and release a statement.
