You think that's difficult? Try her original (Polish) name: Yvonne Strzechowski. "Strahovski" is, in fact, a stage name adopted for easier pronounciation (source: Wikipedia).
She actually mentions that in the interview as well, and switches briefly to her polish accent.
It's pretty awesome.

Holy ****, you mean there's more? You're working on more? When wil it be done? When will it be up? Is there an ETA? I mean, not that I'm trying to pressure you.jtav wrote...
Portrait excerpt:Claire had been a success. Her older sisters had been genetic defectives I had been forced to discard. Some would call me cruel for that. Wasn't it enough to have circumvented my sterility and created a genetic child of my own? But if all I wanted was an infant to dandle on my knee, that were cheaper methods of getting one of those. To him who much is given, much will be required. I had been given much. Humanity needed heroes, now more than ever. We needed to be faster, stronger, and smarter if we were ever going to compete with the aliens. My children would be the first of this stronger humanity. There was no sense diverting resources away from those who would never succeed to those who could, even if they were my flesh and blood. I discarded Eve and Amanda to focus on Claire.
Claire hated me. I always knew she would hate me for driving her almost beyond endurance. Instead of tea parties, she had math lessons. Instead of friends, she had tutors. I never gave her birthday gifts the way other fathers did. She earned every present I ever gave her, and I earned her undying hatred. I have my reasons, even if she still didn't understand them. There was no achievement without adversity. Genetics were only the foundation; the traits must be nurtured to express properly. Genes controlled intelligence, but it was environment that determined whether that intelligence would be expressed in becoming a great scientist or making homemade bombs. So I drove her.
My only true mistake was the operation, but how could I turn down the chance to give my daughter that kind of power? Perhaps I should have discarded her. The pain limited her in ways I could never have dreamed. She was easily tired, and a hundred ordinary things were now beyond her. But a curious thing happened: I began to love her. So many would have simply given up after what happened to her, but Claire kept fighting. She completed every task I set for her. Far from weakening her, the pain had made her more inventive and determined than before. Whereas she once would have simply overpowered an opponent in a self-defense class, she now outthought them. She was the true heir I had conceived of when I began this project all those years ago.
And then she left. I knew she would. What kind of successor would she be if she simply endured my regimen? She outwitted my guards and defeated my security system. Clever girl. She went to Cerberus, just as I knew she would. My constant talk of needing to help humanity rubbed off on her after all. Someday, though, my brilliant darling girl would return to reclaim what was rightfully hers. Probably by killing me. That hardly mattered. The day she did was the day she vindicated everything I had ever done to make her what she was.
I never counted on her taking the spare with her.
No, scratch that, I am. I need moar. This is me encouraging you to write moar. Do you have any idea how awful it is to be reading along, watching the relationship develop, and then after Counterpoint 1 it just stops? There's no more left? It is almost cruel.
I didn't even plan on getting addicted to it. I was reading through the nominations in TCR's fanfic of the month thread and found Portrait, and once I started I became absorbed and before I knew it four hours had passed and there was no material left, I'd read through it all. Did I mention that was awful? Because it was. Somewhat akin to eating a delicious cookie, and after a few bites someone yanks it away. No, that's a poor analogy, good romances can be better than cookies.

Oh snap! I think I figured out the surprise in ME3, Miri leaves Shepard before he wakes up only to run off with Jacob.
I don't know if it's degrading Shep so much as shooting Jacob in the foot romance wise. Obviousy if the line is interpreted as not good enough for Miranda, the sane and rational response for any female Shepard is "then what makes you think you're good enough for me?"Ieldra2 wrote...
Well yes, he is not on Miranda's level, that's why I never rooted for them, even when I played femSheps. But that's exactly what jtav complained about. If Miranda requires "a betterman than I", what does that say about femShep? Clearly, someone at Bioware didn't think enough of the femShep side.
Come to think of it Jacob's kind of weak even on the male Shep side. It feels like he tries to be your friend from when he first meets you and because it's obvious it doesn't work. I appreciate his loyalty and his value as a soldier but there's nothing he can offer in any personal capacity. Frankly I'm not even sure how he'd even get Miranda to care for him which is why I think their fling was mostly physical. Obviously they've still got a deep friendship going on, which is cool, even if I can't explain how it happened. But anything more is ridiculous.

That user in the other page was right: Her comment does sound a bit odd. With only little time left, I'd thought that we would get SOMETHING by now.

I do not hold much hope in these matters as Miranda Lawson along with others like Legion and Thane are only to make side appearences. I fear that Mass Effect 3 will be the end for these characters and I can't help but feel misled by this company.

Most VAs are not allowed to talk about their roles, until BioWare reveals it by themself.MASSEFFECTfanforlife101 wrote...

I still agree with you, that the information seems to come a little late. It almost seems like a strategy of "keeping the dissapointment back"... but maybe that's just me again, overreacting^_^

I can't say for sure, but, with the VA list coming out in February, all they'd really be doing would be making sure everybody got as disappointed as possible just prior to the release of the game.
So, it's nerve-wracking, I know, but I think it's more likely that it's just slated to be part of the marketting at a later stage.
Also, it increases and prolongs Miranda fan suffering, which is, of course, a secondary goal
Just kidding

No no, it was a full line, part of the convo with her, when Shep and Miri were standing next to a Normandy window, it was one of the final moments and depending on which line you picked, you either triggered the romance or finished Miranda's arc permanently on friendship pathjtav wrote...

LoL @ "quasi-celebrity." That's an odd category. I guess it means VAs who are well known to fans of the series, but not necessarily outside of it?

I don't know, I don't want to know. For me, I always pick: "I can't admire your body or your mind? You give your father too much credit. Yeah, he gave you gifts, but you can be proud of what you've done with them."
And people say the ME2 romance dialogue can't have it's sincere bits.
Not all of it, but a few pieces.
