I don't know if saying "That's not healthy" really fits saying "You still have Oriana." What do any of you think?

IIRC, "That's not healthy" was an investigate option (Or just a left-side dialogue). It would have probably benn better if it was right-side.

@edit: Not sure.

If it was it would have possibly been a neutral comment, not renegade.

I disagree. I think Shepard was very sincere and caring when he delivered the "You give your father too much credit" line.

Yes, definitively. "I can't admire your body or your mind?" is, IMO, the best line in the entirety of the romance.
Also, it leads to another nice line in the next conversation "I care about you, Miranda, and I think you care about me."
It is a pity they were not able to follow up nicely.

Really? I think that line was the most ridiculously cheesy line in the whole game. The only part of the Paragon path on this scene I regret missing when I choose the kiss is "Yes, your father gave you gifts, but you can be proud of what you've done with them." For anything else I very much prefer the "You're jealous/kiss" path.

But it can be followed up IIRC with the worst line in the whole series: "You had two years to look at my, and I was wearing a lot less than you", or something.
That just sounds deranged. Shepard was dead, Miranda was hardly getting her kicks having a peep. Properly mental.

Oh, c'mon. Is there anything sexier than Shepard reminding Miranda that, when she first saw him in person, he was basically meat and tubes with not enough salvageable organs down there to distinguish between him and a woman?

You aren't serious, are you? That's not sexy. Almost the opposite of that. Romantic, however, it is, to have the woman you fall in love with also be the one who raised you from the dead.

Shepard (If you choose "No Promises"): I doesn't work that way. We could all be dead this time tomorrow...so if it's not worth it...."

Miri: *Stands up and hugs Shepard* "No, it is. Give me some time. When I'm ready, I'll come by, ok?

As much as Iike the hug, I still don't fully understand the significance of say " No Promises."

And what does Miri fully mean when she says "No, it is?"

Anyone want to enlighten me?

(1) He doesn't promise not to die as she asks because, well, he can't. He hasn't total control of his survival. They're on their way to a suicide mission, remember?
(2) She answers "No, it is" to his line "So if it's not worth it...", meaning what she feels for him is worth taking some emotional risks for.

Cheesy is not always bad. Tough I meant the line in it's entirety including, of course, the incentive to take pride in what she accomplishes.

Of course I was not being serious. Sarcasm is hard to convey though writing.

Note to self: always use smilies whenever you're joking.

If it's any consolation, that time I was actually able to tell immediately that you were joking Image IPB

But, yes, liberal use of smilies is helpful.

I sort of... agree and disagree on this one. On the one hand, I agree it's cheesy. It sounds awkward to me. It's like one of those things you might say in a situation like that, then immediately regret it.

However, it's one of the occasions in the romance where I felt like the writer was trying to at least articulate an appropriate thought for Shepard's side of the dialog, i.e. Shepard is stunned that she doesn't have a higher opinion of herself.

My favourite romance lines are:

- Who said anything about love? I'm just trying to get you into bed.
- You ass.

And the one about promising not to die.

The only incentive to say #1 is to see Shepard's trademarked raep face. It's funny, but that's about it.

Miranda's reply is perfect.

Although this line is cheesy, I prefer it more than the " Are you jealous ? " line .
Don't get me wrong, I love both, the kiss and the " and stop smiling damn it " line are great but I feel like stealing a kiss from her .
In my opinion you provoke her (sexual tentions) and what she rather needs is someone who listens to her, comforts her about her self-esteem .

Give me the kiss. She's an active and willing participant and much less flustered.

I agree that the whole situation is romantic in the strong sense. The ME2 line, unfortunately, doesn't really pick up on that.

Some lines in the leaked script do, though, happily Image IPB

About her being less flustered during the "renegade romance" , I agree with you, she shows much more confidence . I like this kind of game the both of them seem to play .
For my canon Shepard, I was quite hesitant about choosing the P/R path for her romance . I did at first chose the " Are you jealous " but afterwards, I didn't feel right about it, so I reloaded my save to choose the other way .
It seems it was one of the hardest decisions to make for me

I'm not sure I follow you on the " willing participant " though could you clear that up for me please ?

I almost think they should have moved the kiss over to Paragon and moved the "Who said anything about love?" over to Renegade.

Well, these two lines don't occur during the same conversation but I see your point .
The kissing scene seems appropriate to the renegade choice to me, you provoke sexual tentions and here is the consequence .

I'm not sure you can really place the " Who said anything about love " in the Paragon or in the Renegade category . Although it is on top of the wheel you don't get Paragon points for it .

That's the only thing with the romance, if I ever try to think of Miranda as being the Dr. Frankenstein to  Shepard's monster, the whole thing quickly becomes sort of creepy.

Which is why my default isn't romance, but parent/child. Matt's the exception. There it becomes more fairytale princess reawakens dead lover.

I almost think Shepard saying "Nah, I just want to get in your pants" (Paraphrased, of course) invokes more sexual tension.

Or a sexual harassment law suit.

Come on, he was just telling a joke (at an inapropriate moment )  , there's no need to sue him . I'm sure he strongly loves her inside of him .

"That was a joke"

I have no doubts that Shepard is genuinely in love with Miranda, and she with him.

Well, it's not actually analogous to that at the end of the day, but it is one of the comparisons that comes to mind.

The whole situation is fairly... unusual, actually, especially given that the romantic attachment only develops after the "resurrection," rather than prior to it. Absurd from a practical point of view, but very compelling in every other way.

I'm not sure a prior romance was even possible, given Shepard's.... condition.
