I don't see any reason they shouldn't meet on Sanctuary. There isn't any dialogue between Miranda and other squadmates but maybe it just hadn't been written yet.

I don't think Shepard should say anything in this case. A shake of his head or disaproving glance sure, but Miranda should defend herself.

Miranda doesn't appear to be present at the time this happens thus, it falls to Shepard.

They don't insult their rival. Ash is only cruel to Miranda, but too cruel for my liking.

Yeah, that makes me like Ashley quite a bit less. I've always tagged her as conservative in bioethics, but this goes too far. I hope the writers wrote a fitting response to that for Shepard.

I can see that dialogue going very badly for Ash. Certainly my first playthrough (canon?) romanced her, then when she all but called him a traitor on Horizon, it really didn't go down well. Add that to his general level of disaffection with the Alliance and you might as well stand well back, because the fuse has been lit and the dam is about to be breached.
A calmer version of how a reunion might go I envision a little like this.

I'll actually be interested to see her banter with the others, if any. Always thought she and Kaidan would get on splendidly.

I kinda want Shepard to lay the verbal smackdown on Ashley now.

It has rather killed my desire to romance her. And, well, I need a Sentinel more than a Soldier.

I've always forgiven Ashley that she represents values I don't agree with because she's such an interesting woman. I may finally have reached the limits of my tolerance with that comment of hers. If I didn't feel that every hand was needed for the war, I might just throw her off the ship. Of course, should Miranda be present I'll leave the main reply to her but I really feel Shepard should make a reply of his own. Just to make clear where he stands. I feel keeping silent would be disloyal to Miranda.

Indeed.

As if I needed more soldier characters (Garrus and Vega are enough, and Vega is the new tank of the squad).

Actually, the only Sentinel-esque characters I can think of are Kaidan and Miranda. I killed Kaidan. I guess I'm not going to have any Sentinels on the squad anymore, save Shepard.

@bold-

YES. A thousand times, yes.

This definitely marks an opportunity for Shepard to be able to "Stand up for his girl" and not make an ass of himself.

Actually, some of our recent discussions regarding Miranda as "the future of humanity" have made me consider the implications of that line a bit differently.

Sounds like Ashley got victimized by someone's writing, again.

That line just sounds stupid. Unless she has a real strong basis for feeling that way, it's a weak and unjustifiable hatred that she expresses in that line, and I don't see how it can do anything other than turn people away from Ashley.

Similar to the "I'm no fan of aliens" line as she walks away on Horizon. That line would be stupid even if you DIDN'T persuade Ashley to be a little more open to the idea of humans being part of the galactic community.

I dont know... I really try to like Ash... I really do.. but its not possible. Some things that she says are just wrong to me.. very wrong.. Liara and Tali are ok.. they're not very deep characters, but my Shep considers them as very good friends.. but Ash, some of her lines are unacceptable IMO.. my cannon Shep saved Kaidan btw.. no regrets..

I think her comment about Miranda is in line with Ashley's values, actually. That it's particularly harsh might be the result of jealousy, or because she's been a front-line soldier using a grunt's language, in spite of her promotion to a Spectre. I don't think it's bad writing. It accentuates the differences between Miranda and Ashley where their appearance would serve to mask it. I dislike it of course, but it's a "clean" dislike, completely within the fictional universe I'm playing. I do not wish it was not there, except that it makes it difficult for me to romance Ashley in any playthrough.

I don't really think so either, at least not necessarily. Good writing is provocative, the point is to create tension and produce strong reactions, not all of them positive.

Also, the whole question of Miranda being "fake" or not "real" because of her origins should (and, I think, probably will) be addressed directly elsewhere, so, I think this line of dialog was written with that in mind.

I think the comment needs a bit of a harsh reprisal but I don't believe it to be a true and accurate reading of Ashley's thoughts on the matter. Recall she was less than diplomatic during the confrontation in ME1 as well and Horizon speaks for itself. I would say take it for what it is, a hotheaded comment that needs to be put down but nothing more. I certainly don't think it mars her character.

The way she talks about Miranda is quite aggressive, though it is appropriate to a grunt and crude language of a soldier like her, even more if she is jealous of a romanced Miranda .
I don't think it is bad writing .

I wish Shep' would respond to her as harshly as she talked about Miranda .

Ashley suggests Miranda is not a real person because of the way Mr.Lawson created her.
I hope Shepard can give a proper response. A rant of epic proportions would not be out of place here.

Well it's a good thing that Ashley was already dead to begin with when I finally imported (twice). If not, she would have a fateful meeting with Mr. Airlock, and Mrs. Vacuum.

Let's not forget Miranda can border on the verbally abusive here. "Clearly you were a mistake" and her jealousy dialogue, anyone?

Wonder if I'd get in trouble if Matt ran off with aanother girl?

Now i really am tempted to import Steve Shepherd who romanced Ash and then moved onto to better things with Miranda. Could be fun having slanging matches with Ashley.

Indeed she can be very harsh as well . Miranda tends to be very aggresive when she is pissed .
To some extend I found it more " elegant " than what Ash says . She doesn't ridicule Jack by using irony .
It is straightfoward like a punch to the face rather than a shot to the back .

I can imagine some fierce retaliations from Miranda if you cheat on her . Firstly toward the other woman and secondly to Shepard .  :P
As she says " you're mine " .

Or a guy yep . If so, I wonder if her answer would be different .
We don't know how the romance mechanics work in ME3, but yeah, given the re-commitment you have to make, it seems unlikely to cheat on her .

Miranda: Strange, your psych profile never brought up-

Shepard: (sighs) It's him. Just him.
