why is she in the kitchen for this one?

Read the dialogue I made up. My next post below the pic.

Ah. Very well. My question was going elsewhere... purely in the interest of lulz of course. But I think I'll take your version;)

What did you think she was planning to do, in a pose like that? Make him a sandwich?

*Sexually explicit comment removed. You guys lucked out, that one was BAD*

Anyway Clutch, I only would've thrown something at you if you made a comment about her being in there to make Shep a sandwich. Actually, I would've let Miranda throw something at you. She could probably do it harder.

Hey it's every nerd's dream to have fanservice with cooking options. That's like all the basic needs of life rolled up in one.

All right, might as well see where this goes. Insert after Lemon's line:

Shepard: While you're down there, mind checking the fridge for....

Miranda: Ever had a mass accelerated kettle thrown at you? If you utter even one item of food you'll get to see what that feels like.

Shepard: Never mind.

*Miranda and Shepard are... I guess watching TV or something*

M: Be back in a second, I'm kind of hungry.

S: Alright, whatcha gonna make?

M: I don't know, I'm feeling spontaneous.

S: While you're looking could you--

M: Shepard, you've never been on the receiving end of a warp bomb, have you? So help me, if you ask me to make you another sandwich...

S: *Under breath* Why do I put myself through this?

M: Because, you love me, and without me, you'd still be dead.

S: Dammit Miranda, I do love you.

M: Now, make me a sandwich.

Look no further than the promise scene. She's worried, nearly crying, but Shepard can't be worried and can't admit he's terrified of losing her. The mask never falls, even with the LI, as it did in ME1. And if the mask never falls, how am I the player to know that it's a mask?

Pardon, I just finished the romance.

Given the dialogue choices, I can understand where Shepard is coming from.

"I don't plan on it" is him wanting to keep his and her morale up by assuring her that he will survive. She will not lose him. He is giving her something to look forward to.

"No promises" IS Shepard opening up more. "So if it isn't worth it..." is pretty ballsy.

Going off of Miranda's prior dialogue, Shepard doesn't need to tell her that he's afraid he might lose her, she already knows.

edit: I'm not going off the way Shepard and Meer actually verbalize it. That's atrocious. I'm more or less following the tone and message of the paraphrase.

Again, imagine I'm in the minority as people tend to enjoy the renegade option more for this conversation. First let me say the dialogue choices are bad. The scene is bad, heavily brought down by shep.  Second I think you nailed paragon shep.  It kind of goes to show just how "meh" shep is. So utterly bland, that by admitting fear, or a grim outlook is considered a "personality" here. Which is is a testament to just how bad the writing is.  Giving this line, however para is a good response.  yeah its nice to be real once in awhile, but you do that when your not in the fire.  At that time of their conversation; is not the time at all to admit how bad things are, he's gotta be the rock, or rather the meteorite taking the heat as it's entering the atmosphere, or in this case heading into a SM with impossible odds. That's what makes him great in some ways, that he can carry the burden.  And this is really miri asking shep if the burden is too much; in a way.  Thatd be the time to man up, and say nope.

But really, thats just one perspective. and not really, my real thoughts.

with how the scene plays out. Check out the bolded. "so if it isnt worth it.." has to be one of the weakest lines ever. what I really felt when I tried going in that direction. Was just- turned off. I thought either, it was a weak ass way for shep looking for validation when miri has already given it. (and thats what I really thought)... or shep playing to fear to keep hooks in because he has no personality.  (Ive seen negative guys do this kind of tactic alot.)  Mostly cause their emotional dimwits, and only equally emotionally dimwitted, chicks fall for it. just some thoughts. I hated the renegade option there with a passion.

Heavy: Bologna! Perfect fuel for killing tiny cowards!

But he's never not the rock. He never needs her to reassure him, One scene where she has to be there for him, that's all I'm asking. As is, it's a dealbreaker. Meer's performance is very bad here.

wouldnt mind this at all. Infact I wouldve loved way more back and forth, it wouldve been fun to let us choose how we want to spill our guts, it wouldve felt like a genuine relationship- well sort of.  But thats not what it is. The renegade option is crap, and the para option is ok- wouldve been a lot better if there were more dialogue added.

I don't blame Shepard for that scene. One of them needs to stay strong. It goes further in supporting the other one then if they both break down. I agree that Miranda should return the favor at some point though.

Well... options. It's not a problem that "staying strong" is an option, but there should be an option to be more emotional and empathetic. Anyway, I think the devs got the message on that one.

think so? thatd be good news. And usually btw, always seem to agree with your opinion, even if it wasnt my opinion before I read it.

I think they should have added a hug over to the Paragon dialogue. That would make it MUCH better.

Even though Shepard tries to reassure her, she's still cautious. But even though she's cautious, she still has faith in him, and she shows it by giving him the hug.

But does it not reflect more on his battle prowess and not about him as an individual? Also this could just feed into the Christlike figure they have to make Shepard into since people will follow you no matter what your decisions are. So if Shepard is goodhearted soul she says this, if he's a selfish bastard she says this, so it can't really be a personality trait if your personality can be different and she still sees this.

You can take it for what you want.

I see it as a caring reassurance, nothing more, nothing less.

offtopic from what you guys are saying, but it does remind me, that there are quite a few times I wonder; where does the shep love come from?  Especially if im not playing as a vanguard or inflitrator ha.  Other than that; any time anyone makes a remark about how coo shep is- Im like hey Im playing as shep, and im pretty damn meh.

Only high points are the speeches we can give once a game, or twice or w/e.
