Started yet another ME2 playthrough, with my cannon, Winter-Soldier inspired Shepard, James. I plan on romancing Miranda, and the first thing that comes out of Shepard's mouth on Minuteman Station is "Are you naturally this ****y or is it just me?"
It looks like the start of a wonderful relationship.
I love that line!

Very interesting. I can only echo the first review. And I see why this scenario appeals to you. What I don't understand is why this way to write around a possible boring Miranda in ME3 is easier for you than to fill the gaps in the existing story.jtav wrote...

Ghost in the Machine
All Lawrence Shepard wants is for Miranda's ghost to leave him be and defeat Cerberus and the Reapers. But in a world where a corpse can be transformed back into a man and AIs can fall in love, the lines between living and dead can be blurry.
And, yes, Miranda is dead. Keep reading.
BTW this thread is moving insanely fast these days. Almost like in the first weeks after ME2 came out.

I feel differently about playing neutral. It is defined by not making fast judgments and keeping your options open, and as for TIM, being neither his enemy nor his friend, but giving him the benefit of the doubt in some things while not trusting him in others. I never play *all* neutral options, though, since indeed some of them are bland and just substitute things the P or R option have with nothing.schemata wrote...
Trying to stay strong and keep a neutral/renegade path but damn it's hard. Neutral is basically indifferent and I feel like a drone, renegade; well so far with TIM, has made me feel like a tool. I need a shower. /whineyrant

see what your saying. Gotta get into it. Not just mindlessly pick an option, "just cause." What do you guys normally do with veetor?

I play Sentinel.
Heavy Warp and heavy Overload + Power Armor just turns you into Jesus.
And Miranda with heavy Warp and heavy Overload boils combat down to 2 things-
You use Warp/Overload --> Enemy defense is stripped
Miranda uses Warp/Overload --> Enemy is dead.
Agreed, with that combo you're pretty much a tank . When I play Sentinel Shep', I add geth shield boost as bonus power to have two additional shield layers . That's ridiculous, even on insanity .

Eight of my nine Shepards leave him with the quarians. I usually know I can trust Tali to give me the data (especially considering the past where I gave her the data about the geth), and while I would trust Miranda to return Veetor unharmed, I don't trust other Cerberus operatives in that. We have the proof that the Collectors are behind it, we have a seeker swarm sample. We have what we need.schemata wrote...

Here's where I often go Renegade with my neutral or Renegon Shepards:
*Getting discounts from vendors everywhere using intimidating (almost always)
*Minor renegade conversation options like...making the merc on Korlus give false directions, intimidating the merc in Dantius Tower into giving me info (after *not* throwing him out of the window), intimidating Mouse (after *not* torturing him), intimidating the C-Sec woman at the Citadel into letting the asari leave, taking the Renegade option with Donovan Hock, saying "they're not worth it" to Bailey after Thane's LM and some more....(almost always for these examples).
*Renegade interrupts: Clan Weyrloc Speaker, Cathca, shooting the mech on Garrus' recruitment, headbutting Uvenk, saying "name our target and it will die" to the Urdnot Shaman (always)
*Killing Sidonis (often)
*Killing Joram Taleed (less often)
*Intimidating Kelham "I'm a Spectre. Talk" (almost always. I tend to get the option enabled)
*Destroying the Heretics (often)
*Destroying the genophage cure (less often)
*Killing Elnora (almost always)
*Leaving Ronald Taylor on Aeia (with a pistol....or without one) (often).
*Keeping the Collector base (almost always)
Here's where I never or almost never go Renegade even if my Shepard is Renegon:
*Killing Samara (never)
*Encouraging Niftu Cal to attack the Eclipse (never)
*Leaving the workers to burn on Zorya (almost never)
*Leaving Veetor with Cerberus (almost never)
*Paragon interrupts: healing the Batarian on Mordin's recruitment, tipping Niftu Cal over, First talk with Mordin on the SR2, Making Veetor acknowledge you with the P interrupt instead of the R one (almost always)
*Encouraging Jack to kill Aresh (never)
*Using the Renegade persuade to resolve the Tali/Legion conflict (never, I usually lack the points anyway)
Edit:
Thanks for the screenshots and art. Very beautiful.

First choice: Engineer (that's my canon run) or Infiltrator.schemata wrote...
I want moreeee than that. What class did you guys play for your miri canon run?
Also possible: Adept or Sentinel.
No-go: Soldier or Vanguard.
All personal opinions though. In Elyvern's fanfic "Degrees of Inheritance" Shepard is a Vanguard and that also works well.

As for my canon run ( I romanced Miranda of course ) I played as a Vanguard .
I love to play aggressively and this class is better suited for that style than any other in my opinion . Up close and personal .

@jtav:
Are you aware that you are writing up a scenario that were it in the game, the rants about it would be audible from here to Alpha Centauri?

Now that I think about it, it seems the more cruel option. He's dead in every aspect aside from physically. By letting him live you're letting him linger and stay in pain and agony. By killing him, you're swiftly ending his pain.
To anyone that's played GTA 4, at the end, Niko confronts the guy who betrayed his army unit, and you have the choice of letting him live or killing him, and you find out that he has survivor's guilt, just like Sidonis. A lot of characters comment on it.
