Intent has nothing to do with it. Hell specific characters have nothing to do with it (though TIM's general untrustworthiness pushes this further). It's about a war room tactician not giving due consideration to his men in the field and deliberately misinforming them. The field guys aren't going to be happy, regardless of who it is.Ieldra2 wrote...
Except that on the Collector Ship nobody was supposed to be sacrificed. Remember, they needed the team for the SM and TIM's main goal was always getting his hands on more Reaper tech, which couldn't have been achieved by capturing the ship. I think this is really bad writing with characters getting upset in an out-of-character way. Assuming TIM wasn't selling Shepard out - which would make no sense at that point - Miranda wouldn't react the way she did.
This whole scene appears as if it was added for the sake of drama without sufficient grounding in actual plot. That's why I always choose the middle option here, and then Miranda doesn't have anything to say. BTW, not the only time Miranda becomes OOC when you choose the Paragon option....

An intelligent commander should ask for the reason before getting upset. As should Miranda. I repeat that the Paragon reponse makes Shepard appear stupid and naive, and Miranda out of character.

The circunstances shows that it was a sacrifice. Harper already knew about the Derelict Reaper and its IFF. All he needed to safely travel the Omega 4 Relay was the proper coordinates that could only be obtained through the Collector Cruiser.Ieldra2 wrote...

So, he risked the lifes of Shepard and his team to get the data he needed by giving him false information. Again, just to make their diversion more convicing. If they lived, all the better. If they died, all he needed was the data which EDI could transmit to Cerberus command.
It's not like the Normandy is the only ship that can be outfitted with Reaper technology.
Miranda was not OOC at all. She disbelieved Harper had sold them out and did so based on trust, which makes sense given her previous statements. This whole scene appears as if it was added for the sake of drama without sufficient grounding in actual plot. Of course, he may be just a TAD (Like, a very small bit) naive.
Otherwise, I think he's a damn good choice.
edit: Of course it also kinda depends on what it is he's mentoring her on.

First, there is no middle option. If you pick Paragon, Shepard says something like he would like to hear Harper's side of the story. Renegade, Shepard says "That son of a **** send us right into Collector hands."
Miranda's response to the Renegade line is not OOC because of reasons I previously expanded on but I don't remember what she says in the Paragon version.

Ieldra, different question for you. You know that pic you have of your Shepard, Miranda and Jacob looking up at something with rather annoyed expressions? Which part of the game is that? I might want to get a similar shot of my Shepard but with Kasumi instead of Jacob.
You mean this?

It's from Thane's recruitment mission. Right at the beginning, when you see mechs killing salarians.

He sure seems to take the mechs and mercs killing civilians fairly well.
Miranda has that trademark "I'll kill you. And then your entire family" look. Adorable.
And of course Mordin's expression is just as blank as it always is.

This conversation has two nodes IIRC. Anyway, I mixed up the P/R options and I never select "he betrayed us" because that's jumping to conclusions in a most stupid way. And Miranda is out of character not because she defends TIM out of trust, but because she doesn't challenge Shepard's stupidity.MisterJB wrote...

It was no stupidity. Everything pointed towards Shepard's conclusions and he was, in fact, right. Harper sent them into a Collector trap knowingly. His reasons are irrelevant to this.

I certainly don't have manhood to go through with it.
I wouldn't say it's "wrong", unless you're willing to kill her off every single time just to see that particular story. Then it doesn't really ring as character appreciation, as much as it is "killing off the character just so I can see what happens". If I were in your situation, I'd make my canon run with her survival and just go look up on the wiki page what happens otherwise.
edit: I am actually very interested to learn how a Miranda-less ME3 would play out, especially in regards to her personal content, but I won't force myelf to kill her off solely because of that.
@Ieldra: Your Shepard is trying too hard to become Vin Statham. That is, a Vin Diesel/Jason Statham hybrid.
