I'm talking about that part of the Story, between Miri and I. A Story within a Story. I don't don't even consider it a subplot. I consider Miri's Romance and Story THE MOST VITAL part of ME2 for me, one of my Top Priorities....hell, even my #1 Priority<3:wub:.

On a 1/10, in terms of things I consider most important in ME2, Miranda is number 1. Then again Miranda is the only thing I really derive any joy from in this game anymore. I've played it so many times that it's all stale for me. Except for Miranda, of course. Like, every time I start a mission, my first thought is always "Let's get this over with now so I can and talk to Miranda".

The other 9 things being whatever 9 things I think up next.

I don't know, Ashley was pretty against that in ME1. Can't imagine she's changed.

Perhaps i can persuade her with my high paragon/renegade

After Horizon, I'm not sure I want to.

Ha! Change it to Bucky and Black Widow and I might be on board.

But Crutch is right. Matt was born out of my dissatisfaction with ME2 Shep. So he's less outsized, is a reluctant hero, and will show doubt in Miranda's presence. His reward is his work. Similarly, Lawrence was created after a good long look at the leak, He still doesn't want power, but I'll give him a pass because of something spoileriffic.

Well that's... something.

But we still have two diverging situations: in love with Miranda but cowed by her and suitably badass but... significantly less favorable romantically?

Is it too much to ask for both?

If doing so will be spoilerish I can wait a few months.

That makes me feel all the better about only playing through the games twice a year, actually.

Miranda is important to my enjoyment. Maybe the most important part. But the game also has fun mechanics, Mordin, Thane, Liara, and a world I love to play with.

Similar thoughts here, although I'd list... erm, everyone, hehe.

I've put more hours into ME2 alone than I have CoD, WoW, and Gears.

And WoW and CoD track your play time Gears doesn't. 9 days of gameplay for just Black Ops, and almost 25 days worth of time on WoW.

If I had to guess my time in Gears, I'd say maybe ~200 hours in Gears2, and ~125 in Gears3.

I'll give Thane, Liara, and Mordin points as well.

And Garrus and Legion.

My favorite part of LotSB is reminiscing with Liara on the Normandy, so it's fitting that Miranda and Liara are 2 of my favorite characters.

Kasumi is the other thing I still find completely enjoyable about ME2. Shadow Broker's still fun as well.

Crutch, no it's more that he does something to radically reshape the galaxy and I'm not sure about the politics afterward. He is responsible for saving her from a horrible fate in my latest fic, however.

And Matt isn't cowed. Just chivalrous.

I've put a combined thousand-odd hours into Xenogears, probably. Another six hundred or so into Final Fantasy Tactics. Five hundred into Final Fantasy VII. Four hundred into Final Fantasy IX and X each. Metal Gear Solid series' combined playtime is probably approaching 200 hours.

Yeah, I don't really play a whole heck of a lot of shooters or MMOs. But I can definitely empathize, Lemon. =]

I completely forgot about Kasumi.

I'm kinda sad she isn't a romance. She'd be an interesting pick, even though I'm still all for Miranda.

Kasumi is definitely tied with Mordin for having the funniest flavor dialogue.

She's definitely someone I could become friends with IRL.

Hmm not sure I follow but again only tell me as much as non-spoilers will allow.

One day I will write my story. And then maybe we can compare notes.

All this talk of fanfic writing is making me want to back into it.

I used to be pretty good, at the expense of sounding cocky.

I've had some ideas of Shepard and co. at *spoiler location* during ME3 and Miranda *Soiler action*

Lemon, remember when I said Miranda's death was making me all excited. There was a reason for that. Dead isn't what it used to be.

There's only one fanfic buzzing around in my head right now, and it's a short, bitter one. It involves a post-Arrival Shepard discovering he's been placed in a temporary holding cell directly beside Ronald Taylor in a universe where Taylor Senior was picked up by Alliance authorities and Taylor Junior died in the line of duty on the other side of the Omega-4 Relay.

I don't really see her as a romance (though I see why she'd be a good one). Here's what I see (reposted from a summary on the Kasumi thread:

Basically since I took her on just about every mission and always talked to her afterwards I began to see Kasumi as the squadmate Shepard depends on most. Everyone does their job and Shepard trusts them all after a time. But not the same way as he does Kasumi (even the ME1 gang. Garrus is too bitter about his lost squad and too lost in his calibrations and Tali just sprung this adoration on him and he's not sure what to do with it). In my mind Kasumi's ability to read people and the way you helped her with the graybox showed her Shepard is a kindred spirit and can be trusted and for Shepard's part, he relies more and more on her, not just for the mission but also in observing the rest of Normandy's crew. She's his eyes, ears and right hand. This is beautifully exempified on Jack's recruitment mission: "I'd take the offer honey. Otherwise things turn bad for you. Fast". I absolutely love that line because it's exactly what I'm imagining Kasumi to be. If Shepard were a villain she'd be his Dragon.

What do you mean, it isn't what it used to be? And I don't think I have ever seen you say anything about being excited over Miranda's death, more or less just theorizing on how to write about it.

Last I checked, dead meant dead. (Kidding)

The fanfic I'm thinking of starting made me cry manly tears. Like, it was SAD as sh*t.

Which is odd, considering my tear ducts are like shriveled little husks.

@bold but she's not a romance, so how-- Oh, you didn't mean right hand like THAT.

But that is another reason why I like Kasumi. She gives input on the other crewmates, and she chimes in about various things Shepard does.

Believe me.

Coming from someone who's broken their legs and not shed a single tear, it did.

No Lemon, not like that. I can turn off that part of my brain... sometimes.
