I just noticed the disturbing lack of this thread's poster girl.

There's a dirty joke to be made here, but I can't find it.

Have you SEEN Kai Leng? The dude is brimming with grotesque cybernetic implants. Unless one of those attachments can climb up in there and repair Miranda's infertility, why the hell would she be interested in him? Honest question. Do shippers huff paint while they concoct these bizarre pairings?

Think like a woman. Most women are attracted to influence and power. Good looks certainly help, and Shepard is no slouch in that department. He commands respect, his accomplishments are staggering, he's objectively an impressive specimen. Have you ever wondered why Tom Brady gets to impregnate super models (PLURAL)? Well, you shouldn't!

To attempt to depict Morinth as a scared kid is so laughably delusional, it sounds like someone is projecting. How did I even get here? I took a wrong turn somewhere, I just wanted to express my appreciation for Miranda as a character. Guh.

Ignore the stupid debates we have. We can have geuinely fruitful discussions. Some times.

Anyway, welcome to the family!

I'd give you a Miranda, but I already gave us all one, and I'm a lazy bastard.

android, for all your talk of understanding, I'm not sure you understand what a Complete Monster really is. True, it is very rare to encounter one who is only written as doing things "for the evulz". But try and stretch your mind around this: what they do that seems so monstrous to us is the absolute right and correct thing to do in the mind of the monster. They don't go around thinking  "I'm going to be evil today". They say "It is right for me to murder and torture. Either it is my divine right by virtue of (pick one: my strength, my speed, the Dark Side, Satan) or there is absolutely no morality and I can do what I want. I am able to murder and if feels better than not murdering, therefore I wil murder."

Now tell me someone like Miranda or any "normal" character is going to look at that and go "yep, we could probably go out".

You are following the trope to a T, attempting to bring in backstory and "understading" in order to redeem a villian or at least raise him up enough to ship him with a character. But in doing so I think you're completely missing the point of what these characters really are.

There's a old Nicholas Cage flick 8mm where he gets hired as a PI to bust a smut ring. The movie's forgettable but the quote of the villain when he's finally uncovered stayed with me:
"I wasn't abused as a child. Mommy didn't rape me. I just love to [harsh inappropriateness deleted]"
There is absolutely no way these characters can function in normal relationships. To bring them into one or to bring another character into a warped version with the monster is to break one of them.

Who was he before? What was he doing before he became an assassin? What life did he lead that caused Cerberus to keep an eye on him? Who are the people in his life, and what happened to them? These and many more are the kinds of questions that can lead a monster to becoming a very human character.

As for Miranda looking at him and developing a crush? I doubt she rarely does that to begin with, and in the frame work of a story "courting" shouldn't exist because its boring and kills the spontaneity that is supported by a story's limited time frame to develop relationships. What I'm advocating is, show the character's human side, find a good way to communicate that to Miranda and put then in a situation where they're both forced to consider the other as a person and building a brief romance from there is easy to build.

By making a character completely irredeemable makes the character one-dimensional and therefore uninteresting. I've never seen 8mm or too many Cage films, but that character sounds like he was written like many Spaghetti Western character. It weakens the story to say, "This is the bad guy, he's bad because he's bad. This is the good guy, he's good because he's trying to stop the bad guy." Its a very weak set up for characters and is very lazy. So far I can't think of any major ME characters that are that poorly constructed. It shows a lack of care to not layer your character to be more than just good or bad.

I've already stated that a normal relationship is ridiculous for any big personalities which is what most of the Mass Effect cast is made of. With the exception of Tali, Ashley, and Kaidan (Before LOTSB Liara, but she's having a shift in character) the rest are personalities that wouldn't fit in everyday normal situations. They're written in a way that each of the other ME characters could hold their own epics and lead equally impressive lives as Shepard. So putting them in a traditional relationship is beyond the realm of believability for those characters.

@android

Leng was an N7 Marine before he was imprisoned.

Let's just leave it that Miranda would not, by any realistic sense, develop feelings for Leng. It's just a fact for anyone who isn't a terrible fanfic author (No offense Jtav). You have yet to present any substantial evidence to say that she would, while JB and I HAVE provided evidence to the contrary.

Just drop it. It seems like we're getting angry at each other over speculation, which is stupid.

Nono. It's interesting. People are interesting.

I like that Mass Effect leaves enough to the imagination so that these things are enabled, it speaks to how rich the characters are. I don't have any leanings. Miranda was my first romance choice, but my girlfriend didn't like her, so I went another way. A few months later, she actually played the game and told me that she loved Miranda and grew a deep appreciation for her.

>_<

I like that picture. I can laser out that cataract for her, though. No charge.

I like speculation as much as anyone else, but Leng + Miranda is just...

Kill me, please. Slowly and painful.

Yeah, that's indefensibly dumb.

Can you imagine this woman....

...with someone like Kai Leng?
:sick::sick::sick:

jtav explained the urge to me in a PM, and I get it, but I don't like the idea any better after the explanation. Please let's not get this thread get tainted by that horrible topic.

@android654:
You continue to say that Miranda and Shepard would never work and now you defend the notion of Miranda with Kai Leng? What the hell is wrong with you?

I'm all about imagination and creativity but Leng + Miranda in a Fanfic ... not so much . Some lines shouldn't be crossed :P.
Moreover, they must hold a strong hatred and rivalry for each other .

Thank you Lemon for this picture . This must be a sweet way to wake up after two years of "sleep" .

I'm curious, does anyone find Miranda more attractive than Yvonne, for one reason or another?

I admit that I do.

You're right. It would be like Ekindu and a gorgeous woman having sex. that would never happen.

Its actually a pretty reoccurring theme to have one part of a pairing be monstrous and the other there to humanize the other half.

I'm still curious to hear Jtav's rationalization.

Purely physically, no. Definitely not after seeing Yvonne in the SoBe shots. But there lies an attractiveness in Miranda as a person that her VA could never match. So, altogether, yes.

Let's put aside the fact that Miranda is not " real " .

I find her more attractive than Yvonne the reason being that I can't resist to blue-eyed brunettes .

Well i think i've got a bit of a thing for dark hair(Miranda, Glau, Alba, Doig) so i'd probably say yes. Yvonne is cute though too.

I'm kind of similar.

Not to sound like an ass, I prefer brunettes to blondes.

edit: That's probably a bad way to put it.

But every brunette woman I've seen so far would not look good blonde.

I do as well. The problem is that Miranda's animations are not natural and some of her proportions are subtly wrong. For instance, her head is too big for the rest of the body. That makes a difference that I can't get beyond if I only consider the strictly physical.

C'mon, don't bring the topic up again. Kai Leng deserves to die and I hope he burns in Hell. Let the same thing happen to the very idea of this ship.
