On this, Does Miranda ever catch on that Shepard is making passes at her prior to that dialogue?

I never really tought of this Paragon line as Shepard making a pass. He was just trying to make her feel better about herself.

"You wouldn't, huh?"

"It's only fair, you've had 2 years to look at me, and I was wearing less than you are"

That occurs after she's already made it very clear she's interested.

Why does everyone like the Renegade conversation? It doesn't match how everything goes in the Promise Scene.

What does Miri fully say when you Kiss her?"

I mostly remember:
"What the hell was that?" and "And stop smiling dammit!"

Shepard: Wait a minute. Are you... jealous?
Miranda: Don't be absurd.
Shepard: The genetic mutt that the Illusive Man put in charge. Man, that must sting.
Miranda: First, it's not a competition. Second, based on your combat records, you're practically a perfect bloody human specimen.
Shepard: Perfect human specimen, huh?
Miranda: Don't get cocky. I'm the one who put you back together remember? And I do damn good work.
Shepard: You certainly do.
[Kiss]
Miranda: What the hell was that?
Miranda: Okay, this doesn't mean anything. We just... God, I need to think. I need... I'll talk to you later.
Miranda: And stop smiling, damn it!

Yep, my much preferred version of the romance.

Nah it doesn't match the Promising Scene. You sound like a douche and a scoundrel when saying stuff like that in the Kiss Scene. Then you sound all nice in the Promise Scene.

It doesn't fit too well when you're mostly Paragon.

I don't really mind this dialogue, except for Shepard sounding like a dick with the "genetic mutt" line.

The kiss also felt sort of "Shepard moving in on her and her not having a chance to react", which I'm not sure how to feel, whether good or bad.

Shepard was being somewhat agressive but I wouldn't say he was being a douch or a scoundrel.
Besides, you don't need to be all nice in the Promise scene as Bioware actually wrote a more agressive line to open that dialogue with.

Paragons get the: I care about, Miranda, and I think you care about me.
While Renegades gets: What are you so afraid of? That you might actually start caring for someone?

Both fit with Shepard's previous demeanour.

The only problem is that Miranda sounds somewhat Bipolar in the Renegade scene.

"Look what happened was simply mistake, nothing more.

2 seconds later

I don't know what this is. If it's is stress..."

I don't think Shepard is making passes at her either .
I interpret it ( or RP ) that way : He wants to be nice to her, but he also starts to develop feelings for her, though he might not be fully conscious of them yet .

I know, my original question was "Is Miranda ever aware of Shepard making passes at her prior to this dialogue".

I would never say something like that to Miri. She obviously has people she cares for.

I'm a Passionate sort of man. Therefore I say "I care about you, Miranda, and I think you care about me...."

As best we can tell, none of the ME2-exclusive squad members are going to be on the ME3 squad. Miranda has quite a large role all things considered.

I hope they make a DLC of her like Bioware did to Liara Tsoni in ME 3. Although that too much of a wishful thinking. Miranda did play a big role in ME2 then any other squad mate. It's ashame they won't make her an integral part of ME 2

The Renegade romance has Shepard teasing her (you can tell he's only half-serious here) and acting in a more forward way, which she appears to appreciate even while challenging him back. There is more tension in this scene than in the Paragon version, and Miranda is also more confident saying "I'm the one who put you back together remember, and I do damn good work." Stealing the kiss, Shepard judged the moment well, because she clearly doesn't mind.

That's why I prefer that version. The Paragon version is...tame.

Do you have a link to a video when he says, "What are you so afraid of? That you might actually start caring for someone?"

@bold- If I were Shepard, I'd say that too.

You know, before you tease her, at least let her know you care about her first, so you don't make yourself look like an ass.

I mean, I know Shepard is only half serious, but at face value it comes off as "nya nya nya nya u jelly?".

She's not made of porcelain, you know. Neither is her psyche.

Sure, I prefer the Paragon version too but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with people who pick the Renegade version.

The renegade conversation seem more natural and she seems to reciprocate more than in the paragon one. In the paragon dialogue he spends too much time consoling her and complimenting her, I don't think she's the type of person that would respond well to that. However, in the renegade version you're a bit more playful and she responds to that with more enthusiasm and seems to enjoy the exchange a bit more. It also sounds more like what an actual person would do when hitting on someone rather than telling them how amazing they are.

I know, and I agree. Overall, I like the renegade dialogue better, but I tend to pick the paragon choice.

I just don't like the way Sheaprd says "The genetic mutt" line.

That's the one that leads up to the renegade kiss, right? I liked that converstion, probably the better one that they had throughout the whole bit.

In a normal situation, I also don't think Miranda would respond favorably to compliments. She probrably heard them all a dozen times before. However, Shepard was not telling her how beautiful she was. He was incentivizing her to take pride in her sucesses which was what was paining her at the moment. Judging by her reaction, she clearly appreciated it.

And I wish to reteirate my view that Paragon Shepard was not making passes on her. He only reciprocated once Miranda switched the conversation to a more flirty tone.

If you think so.

I think it made Shepard look like an ass, considering the lack of buildup.

Yes, I like the Paragon line there. Miranda needs to be told that she has value and can take pride in her accomplishments until she actually believes it. My problem lies strictly with the flirting.

Compliments about your person from a stranger (Which SHepard kind of is at that point) kind of rings hollow. I think after the flag is checked, if he starts consoling her on her father issues and things of the like, it might ring a bit more true.
