I've considered creating a MaleShep to romance Ash with, but if Ash is available for S/S, I have a FemShep ready for her. So there wouldn't be a point.

I was going to make a Shepard to romance Ashley but reading what she says regarding Miranda in ME3 has turned me off her completely.

I trusted in thw writers to make some good to Ash after the Horizon fiasco. And the lesson is: never trust in BW writers, if they can ruin a character even more, they will.

I don't blame you.

Not. One. Bit.

Didn't care for her much in ME1, either.

I didn't really mind her all that much in ME1. In fact, she seemed like someone I could get along with, in spite of her... odd traits.

But then she went all "Y U NO CALL BACK? U IZ TRAITOR NOW! I HAET U!" *Later* "I iz sowwy 4 getng mad earlier".

Ok, I keep seeing this and while I haven't read these spoilers regarding Ashley I find it odd that people would make judgements on a character based on dialogue that may or may not be in game ... If I saw lines from all the characters in both ME & ME2 there are some lines that seem really harsh ... Miranda's remark to Jack about her being a mistake is a little jarring. Control chip anyone? Yet, in the game these are not the only things that Miranda says. To judge her strictly on moments that aren't "pretty" means that you lose out on a great character.

Ash is also a great female character to me. Will Ash say something cutting about Miranda? Potentially. Especially in the game where Shepard was with Ash and now with Miranda.

Can we wait until the game comes out, the dialogue (if it is really in-game) is heard in the context it was meant, see the whole of where they lead Ashley and then make a judgement?

Wait ... this is the BSN. Never mind. Image IPB

The control chip line makes perfect sense, given the context and circumstances. I didn't find it jarring or offensive at all.

A reasonable precaution. She was just being cautious.

I can give you the context if you want.

Ashley has qualities and faults, just like Miranda or any other in the trilogy. However, had Miranda been in favor of what happened in Pragia, I would not be here. Despite all of the other great things about the character, I could not forgive her for it.
The same thing applies in this situation. What Ashley says is absolutely inexcusable. She either apologizes or I'm no longer a fan and my Shepard would not spit on her if she was on fire.

With that being said, I am not trying to pick a fight with the fans of Ashley. Like I said, she has qualities.

I don't consider myself the fan of just one character. I do love Miranda, Liara, Ashley, Kaidan, Wrex, Mordin,Tali and Joker more than the others but even the ones that I'm not really crazy about have their pros. But that is just me.

Unless a character sides with the Reapers without being indoctrinated or works with any group against Shepard then all things are fixable. All of the characters have their challenges and depending how you play your Shepard you can love or hate a character. I have a Shepard that can't stand Miranda and one that considers her a close friend ... the same with Ashley.

Once ME3 is out then it will be interesting how people feel based on the finished product and not the "leak".

When you tell Miri, "I trust you, but I don't trust Cerberus. Your Experiments crossed the line," and after she replies, do you mention what they did to the Rachni and Husks, or do go Straight to asking her why she didn't choose a Different Job?

BSN: Where overreaction goes to procreate.
I'm with PMC on this one. Crying RUINED FOREVER (or in this case KILL IT WITH FIRE) over ONE line and one that for all you know may not have even made it to the final game is rather foolish. If a line like that really is uttered in the final product it deserves a harsh reprisal sure. But no more than "clearly you were a mistake". People say stupid sh!t all the time. Doesn't mean we have to burn them at the stake for it.

And jtav has a point as well. At times (and increasingly I might add) this thread devolves into mere fanboyism and while it's nice to sample some every now and then, constant gushing does drive away interesting discussion. This just leads to the thread dying faster, either because it'll get out of hand and they'll have to lock it, or like I said before you can only post the same pics so many times or go "omg i luv miranda she's so awesome lolololo!!!!1one" before it gets boring.
You need a balance of sheer admiration and intelligent discussion to keep this going.

We all have our lines in the sand. If Miranda had supported Overlord for any reason, I would make it a point to leave her dead on my playthroughs. Ashley's line isn't anywhere near that point, and Miranda is catty herself, but it does make me less likely than I already was to choose to save her instead of Kaidan or choose to import my romance save.

You must excuse the growing lack (Ha) of "Interesting topics" to discuss, what with everything being discussed to DEATH, and ME3 releasing in 6 weeks.

If a ME movie were to be produced (Not the one that's in the works right now), and on the off chance Miranda were to appear, who do you think could perform her role? Aside from the obvious Yvonne.

I could see Kate Beckinsale doing a semi-convincing Miranda.

How long you been on here? A week? Two? A month?  And you're getting bored already?

There are people here who've been here since the start of this thread and then some (myself not included I came in on page 695) who don't feel we've exhausted all discussion (or at least don't complain about it).

Besides new people can potentially bring new perspectives. Of course that won't happen if all we're doing is posting the same pics and "miranda 4evar!:wub::wub::wub::wub:"

I'm just advocating balance. Nothing more.

While I see why Kate Beckinsale would be a good choice, I can't actually picture it. I myself would suggest Oliva Wilde (provided she could do the accent). Someone else suggested Rhona Mitra and I would agree with that choice as well.

I don't think anyone's arguing. Not to my knowledge anyway.
