Who do you bring to Horizon? Other than Miranda, I mean. I really like hearing Miranda's "No one could have done more, Shepard" line. It gives me a warm tingly feeling. However, I also like bringing Garrus to Horizon, and his "More than most, Shepard" (which isn't near as good) supersedes Miranda's line. I can't decide if I want to leave Garrus behind so I can hear Miranda's reassurance or bring him so I can hear Ashley's "Garrus, too?" remark.

I prefer Miranda's lines as well. It bugs me that Ashley doesn't interact with Garrus more about Cerberus especially when he says the "their history" part to Ashley. So just not bringing Garrus ignores that whole headache of triviality for me, and the "Garrus, too"? part isn't worth the headache.

Also great news that Yvonne is coming back.

I told ya 'll Yvonne was coming back... never a doubt from day 1.   :P

As for Horizon.. that mission is such a mess story wise... I swear Bioware kneecaps themselves more than Square sometimes.

Ok... now it's officially getting weird... She is glaringly absent from the "star" video, and she is absent again from any screenshots! They even revealed another female character, before her... I really have no idea what they're thinking or doing.

Well, I certainly don't deny that it's been a bit weird all along.

A couple of related thoughts:

Both Yvonne Strahovski and Carrie-Anne Moss are listed among the star cast, but neither are in the video. This could just be logistics.

Also, none of the VAs for "might be dead" characters appear in the video, including quite a few popular characters. So, it's possible that they don't like that idea, conceptually.

I always bring Grunt with Miri and I. Good to have a bit of muscle on the Battlefield, especially that of a Krogan.

Hmm. I think you've convinced me. I'll leave him behind.

I'm always tempted to bring him because it's one of the only times the ME1 characters acknowledge each other's existence, even if it is only a tiny one-liner. His presence also makes me feel a bit more secure against the "traitor" accusations. Kind of a, "See, Ashley, it's not only me who thinks working with Cerberus is necessary, Garrus thinks so too" thing. Lends me a bit more credit, and weakens the whole "MAYBE CERBERUS BRAINWASHED YOU, HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT THAT" argument somewhat.

When does she say that? I don't recall ever hearing that line, nor the others you mentioned, on Horizon, ever.

I've done this mission with Miranda and (Jacob, Kasumi or Jack).

Not to forget that marketing is aimed mostly at non-fans.

The reply "You're letting your feelings about Cerberus get in the way of facts" is enough for me. Though it would've been nice if you could say "I don't exactly trust the Illusive Man, but this needs to be done, it doesn't matter by whom."

Yeah, although by that standard, you would definitely put Strahovski and Carrie-Anne Moss in the video. So, most likely it's logistics (because that could apply to both of these actresses).

If you bring Garrus, Ashley will say something like, "You're working for Cerberus now? Garrus, too?"

Bring Mordin next time, and you will hear Miranda's line. Or are you saying you have never heard one of your squadmates speak up to tell you you did the best you could?

Exactly. I do not recall having heard that. It's right after you answer Delan at the end of the mission, right? Perhaps I just don't listen at that time because I'm too annoyed with Delan, and perhaps it depends on how you answer Delan? I always take the lower option with that guy. I hate him.

OK...I have a save before the last fight on Horizon.....need to know.

Actually, does anyone know the specific "priority" mechanics for dialogue? Like in any given non-specific situation who gets to speak? I know I always want Kasumi talking to Jack when you finally catch up with her because I love her line. But I always assumed if Miranda were there, she would say something instead. Anyway, anyone know how that works?

I Love Miri's line: "Typical Alliance attitude. You're so focused on Cerberus that you're blind to the real threat."

It is SO DAMN True, it's True Peotry!

You are correct, it is option-specific. You need to pick the one that goes something like, "I did the best I could."

Miranda will pipe up and say, "No one could have done more, Shepard."

I wish I did. I've spent an embarrassing amount of time struggling with dialogue priority mechanics. I know whose dialogue I like best and I'm always trying to arrange things so that they get to speak.

My answers to Delan always go:

"That ship is huge. How exactly am I supposed to...." and
"I did my best. You just hid in your damn bunker"

After that, someone will have a comment of his/her own, but in this case it was to Delan, not to Shepard, and anyway I don't think I've ever heard Miranda's. Heh, and I took Grunt in my last run because I wanted to know what he had to say on the mission. He says something about how Delan should be grateful for without Shepard, they'd all be on that ship.

One thing I'm not clear on is whether there is an overall priority list, or whether the list varies situationally. If it's #2, then that's a lot more complicated, obviously.

And while I'm at it, I see absolutely no reason to connect her achievement to the Lazarus Project with her infertility. Any such association is completely accidental. She was selected to lead the project by TIM because she had the skills to do it. She succeeded at it not because she was especially driven by her infertility, but because she's just that good. Also Lazarus started two years ago, and we can infer from the details that the events in the dossier happened later than that.

For once, jtav, I think you're completely off with this, and with that creator/creation connection as well. There is nothing creepy with the romance. Miranda and Shepard are two people who are at the pinnacle of human achievement for different reasons, and who are attracted to each other. Apart from Miranda's personality traits, that's what the game gives us. You can add your own theories of course, but the game in no way suggests them.

@Joseph:
It is even rarer that I completely agree with you, but here it is

I have to completely agree with this.   ;)

The list varies. On Purgatory, at that place where you see the guard mistreating a prisoner, Miranda is the lowest on the list, so that you can get her comment only if you hack the game to bring her alone. On Horizon, obviously things work differently.

It seemed likely, because of that and the way Strahovski coyly answered the question (or didn't answer it, I guess would be more accurate) in an interview recently. Still, it's good to get the official confirmation.
