You don't have to be a moron to overreact.
Indeed, no. And, yes, I freely admit I *may* have overreacted to the leak when it happened (though that remains to be seen).
I have had the chance to take as dispassionate a look at what we have as I can, and my best assessment is that what we are seeing is not the substance of Miranda's role in the game. I think that is almost definitely true to an extent, but to what extent? There is no way to know. I see no point in rehashing all of this stuff now, we will know soon enough anyway.
The other thing I will say, though, is that, if the leaked script is the substance of Miranda's role, or even close to it, then that is inexcusable.

No, you're not overreacting and I agree with what you just said. I just wanted to keep things in perspective so you don't overreact in the future (or at least not about this).MASSEFFECTfanforlife101 wrote...
To me it just appears that Diana Allers will only be an upgrade to Kelly Chambers. She isn't even a Squad Member. I'm not bashing nor am I overreacting. I'm merely speculating.

No...but the new characters are a symptom of the problem. I feel increasingly like they're not making the game for those like us who like the ME2 cast. They're making it for newcomers and the fans of the ME1 team. And with every new revelation without a single word about Miranda, that feeling increases.CrutchCricket wrote...
ME2 characters were sidelined. We don't know why and we haven't been able to logically figure out why. New ME3 characters have been created. There is no connection between the two apart from a shift in resources. But that shift was not caused by the new characters. There may be a correlation but there is no causation.

She looks like Ashley who looks like Miranda, it is ridiculous.
Why not make her Emily Wong? And why not make her give a couple of sidequests to Shepard? Did she really need to be on the Normandy? And did she really need to be an LI?

The current thinking is that Emily Wong (and Al Jilani if you really want to consider her as anything other than politically incorrect comic relief) are civilians and could not handle wartime reporting (or would not want to) Diana on the hand, being with the Alliance News network is trained for wartime conditions.

It is a marketing ploy, just like Felicia Day in Dragon Age.

Diana isn't the problem. The problem is that the Miranda of the leak doesn't seem to care about anything beyond Oriana and romanced Shep. Diana just comes in because she replaces Miranda as fanservice.
Replaces? Yeah right.....she's far from replacing a Wonderful Character like Miri.

I gave in-universe reasons, not explanations for what Bioware's doing. Thanks for picking up the "marketing ploy" banner though. Haven't seen enough of that lately.<_<MisterJB wrote...
Which is an excuse, Bioware could have just easily said that Emily Wong spent some time with the Alliance and no one would have complained.
