Because I'm still here. I'm dedicated to Miri whether BioWare likes it or not.

I have largely given up on ME3 satisfying me regarding Miranda, yes. I've put my faith in things being more than they appeared and it didn't work so well.

Well i'm still at the stage of hoping there's something more satisfying missing. I've got no need to rush misery, it'll arrive in its own sweet time if it is coming.

And? What does that have to do with the question I asked?

Don't get me wrong. I think Yvonne Strahovski did an amazing job bringing Miranda life to in ME2 and, should she be replaced, it would take me quite a few playthrough before I adapted to the new actress.

However, like jtav already explained, it is a possiblity that keeping Yvonne as the VO negativelly affected Miranda's role. And, if I have to choose between having what Miranda says be voiced by Yvonne or Miranda simply having more to say, I know what my choice is.

NO.

No, it did not negatively affect her role. Proof= every other Hollywood star that only got a cameo in ME2.

And no, if Strahovski hadn't been back I would not be interested in seeing Miranda in ME3. At all. I would still be interested in her character. I would still want her to do great things and come out intact. But I would take a plain text scroll saying "...and meanwhile Miranda killed TIM and took over Cerberus. The End" over a recast. Mordin's recast is bad enough.

That's actually not proof of anything.

I have no reason to believe that Miranda's role was negatively affected by this. But I don't know one way or another, and neither do you.

Changing the topic;
Do you think Miranda's personality overshadowe's Shepard's?

I imagine her pay rate would be comparable to Keith David's. And Anderson's role was tiny in ME2. Same with Carrie-Ann Moss, Lance Henriksen... might be missing a few.

Not necessarily. Depends how you play Shepard. He's supposed to have some innate leadership qualities that make everyone follow him. So it shouldn't. Of course you can play him like a wuss in certain situations and reverse that to some degree.

Well, look, even assuming the pay rate is similar (which is already something we do not know), actors get paid less for smaller roles, as that is less work and less time invested. So, given that there is a budget that needs to cover all the voice acting for the game, it stands to reason that an expensive VA might end up with a smaller role due to budgetary constraints.

That doesn't mean that this actually happened. But it is certainly within the realm of possibility.

Paid less but not at a lower rate. I see the distinction though. Still since they got Freddie Prinze Jr for Vega it does seem that they're willing to fork over the Hollywood rate. So Miranda's VA is not likely to be a deciding factor in her sidelining.

Err, I think Kieth David gets payed way more, I mean he's not exactly new to the business (movie or VA) compared to Yvonne.

I prefer Virmire. That may be because I prefer Kaidan anyway. Though I wouldn't be terribly concerned about romancing someone in ME1 if you intend to stay with Miranda.

How much the expensive VAs cost respectively is not really the relevant point. However, since for the moment there's no particular reason to believe this was a factor in Miranda's case, I'm more than happy to leave it at that.

Vega is a permanent squadmate from the beginning of the game. The status Miranda used to enjoy from.
By the time they were writing her role and lines, they already knew that she could be dead and might have also known that all ME2 characters would be sidelined.
Miranda is no longer a main character, she is not the main source of fanservice meant to attract new players and she is not even a squadmate. I doubt they considered paying Yvonne a worthy investment.

No because Ea doesn't pay for that.

They get payed per # of sessions (or hours), unless I totally misread your comment (it's getting late here)
