Miranda is no longer a main character, she is not the main source of fanservice meant to attract new players and she is not even a squadmate. I doubt they considered paying Yvonne a worthy investment.

Again I would say about as much as they considered Keith David a worthy investment in ME2.

We're all getting at the same thing really. Miranda's role seemed to be decided (and decidedly small) before VAs entered the equation. Therefore they are not a factor (with some margin of error).

Already said it. Every ME2 exclusive was created only for ME2, they are dispensable, they only existed to fight against the collector and nothing more. The fact that any of them can die is all the proof we need.

The only characters that can truly develope in ME3 and have full arcs are the ones from ME1,

Bioware, you f*cking sellout. Now I'll never EVER buy another BW game again, but I'll still play them and spit on them in the forums. And guess how I'm gonna do that?

Well, no, there's really not enough evidence to reach that conclusion.

As Vertigo points out, the actors are paid per session. Large role = additional sessions = more money. Thus Keith David's role in ME2 was much less of an investment than his role in ME3 (or ME1).

If they felt they needed to squeeze all of Yvonne's voice work into one session, for example, that could easily limit the size of her role. We have absolutely no idea if this happened or not. But it's plausible enough.

To illustrate, let's say Strahovski charges $500,000 per session. Each time you schedule an additional session, you are eating into your VA budget by a lot.

And well, when *Kelly* has more substantial dialogue, there's a problem.

The more I think of Diana Allers, the more it annoys me that a new minor character is placed on the Normandy for the whole game and elevated to LI status while Miranda is relegated to one mission and a few talks here and there.

Miranda's presence better be awesome, Bioware.... with everything as it is right now, I'm primed to explode...

Yep...big time.

No because Ea doesn't pay for that.

Wait, doesn't pay for what?

Come on were talking about Ea the publisher of Bioware who pays all the things that go into Mass Effect.

It's not simply a matter of her role. It's also a matter of what she has to say.
Admittedly, I don't know how VO works however, I can only imagine that the more you read, the more you get paid.
So, even if Miranda was always intended to have only one mission, a cheaper VA could have allowed Bioware to afford more dialogue from Miranda.

This thread has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Not one person here as played the game and yet you would never know it by the postings.

But if they didn't care to have more dialogue, they wouldn't care about paying Yvonne if it fit in the budget. I think we're going in circles here...

I'm ready to call it quits.

The only proof we have of that is Bioware's word, the people who are trying to sell this game.
If any of the information officially released thus far had diverted from the leak, I would be more optmistic. As it stand, TIM's or Vega's dialogue are word by word.

Err announcing so and so Celeb is doing VO work for a game helps add to pre-orders (that's why there was a video and press release), so there's an investment being made there...plus I'm assuming since ME2 did well in sales that their budget increased for ME3

Or maybe they cared to have more dialogue but chose not to due to budget constraints.

It's basically the difference between hearing Miranda say "Consider this my resignation" and have the fans spend years discussing the nuances of it isntead of simply having the character explain it.

The reason I'm pessimistic is that substantial portions of a BW game have been uncovered before. They were "rough drafts." They were also 100% accurate. There's one scene we know is missing, but I see no reason to hope for more.

BSN is in a subdivision of hell half the time. Handbaskets are optional. At least we're all calm. It's been much, much worse.

It did. Back in ME2, when Miranda was a permanent squadmate. Now, it would be like announcing that Sir Ian Mckellen is voicing a Red Shirt.

Overall, I found it an excellent script. It's Miranda specifically that bothers me.

I'm sure people said the same thing before ME2 regarding the VS and Liara.

Ah yes, "Bioware's word." I've already discharged their claims.

"Every romance will have a proper conclusion." Riiiiight.... what about Jacob.

"No new cast member to romance. It's all about consequences." We all know that's not true.

It's hard to believe anything they said.

Not exactly zero information. Strahovski is confirmed as voicing Miranda again. That won't help much though if her role is reduced to a shadow of what it should've been.

Unfortunately, that may have something to do with price.
