I've been following this thread since its inception, and, having just returned, am saddened that Miranda is not a squadmate in ME3. Also, given Bioware's "voice cast reveal" video, Miranda won't have many lines, as they would certainly have included Yvonne in there with Sheen and the gang if she did.

Whilst people keep saying "be positive" etc etc, let's face it, Miranda is not a squadmate, therefore, there's not much to look forward too for Miranda fans except an (almost guaranteed) tiny amount of dialogue during some short cameos. What a pity.

I guess i'm disappointed that, after Bioware built her character up so much in ME2, they are now shoving Jessica Chobot reporter down our throats. Frankly, couldn't care less about that new character. All things aside, i'm still looking forward to ME3 a bit.

Ashley and Kaidan are the only ones whose presence I don't mind. Their fans have waited enough for a return and they're main characters of ME1. I fully expected them to be important and it's very much OK. Also Miranda's presence appears to be a little bigger than your post would imply (see the spoiler group linked in my sig for details). It's the quality of her content that's not looking so good atm.

But yes, the sudden out-of-nowhere appearance of yet another sexy dark-haired woman who isn't Miranda is galling.

OK, i went back and read a tiny bit, i see she has more of a role than i initially read. But, the quality of it doesn't look promising. Ashley and Kaidan's roles are fine, i suppose, even for non-fans of their characters. But, yes, the inclusion of Chobot-reporter boils my blood a bit. C'mon Bioware, it would've been so much better to just cut the reporters role altogether and use that budget for 50% more Miranda, a person we actually already like and have CLEARLY expressed interest in.

I never mentioned Kaidan. I admit, Ashley is alright, i have edited my previous post, i'm just not a fan of hers and would vastly prefer Miranda as a squadmate.

If there's anyone getting shoved down our throats, it's the buckethead and the bipolar blueberry.

The exclusion of Yvonne in the cast reveal is a clear sign, indeed. There won't be much to anticipate in things Miranda.

I don't understand why BioWare throws in completely new characters that, let's be honest, take a place of a returning character. That's why I am also okay with "forcing" Ashley back into the team. She is a returning, already interesting character that many fans like to see a return of...
...While Diana and Vega just seem to be the sexy additions for both male and female players. They are just 2 attractive characters that come out of nowhere.

I hope they don't throw Miranda out completely. After all the build-up in ME2, it would be a huge let-down to let her die like that. For many people.

Yeah i'm fearing that as a sign. Still trying to hold onto a tiny sliver of hope that i'm reading too much into these kind of things. leak hardly inspires such hope unforunately.

I'm also disappointed about Miranda's treatment in Mass Effect 3. She should be a squadmate, but instead we are forced to endure the presence of characters like Tali or Garrus again.
And I consider the addition of the new characters, the ultimate insult.

Actually, I fear what they'd have done to her to make her compatible with Shepard's new team. Her having her own story running parallel with Shepard's has great potential, no need to twist her to fit into the team. Only it seems they haven't used that potential. Or they have. We'll see in a month.

I pretty sure the new characters are for the new players. They don't wanna leave new comers with a squad full of people already developed over the course of 2 games... Which they should. Its a trilogy... You don't go starting a trilogy with the ending! BioWare should've focused more on making this game an epic conclusion to a trilogy, rather than a more stand alone game. If new players are confused character or story wise they can, a)Buy and play ME1 and ME2, or B) there's a nice little tool called "google" were they can pretty much find everything they need to know... But instead they leave fans with new characters the majority dont want, and exclude the favorites..

This is how I feel about Bioware and their shameless pandering. Also, this is how I feel about the buckethead and the blueberry.

Darn well said! I think the majority of Miranda-likers will agree with this well-worded post.

They needed new characters becaus all the squaddie of ME2 might be dead. Their error was adding the buckethead and Garrus, if they are dead you have two wasted squad slots.

The error here was creating something like the  Sucide Mission from the start which now they painted themselves in a corner... it was  almost as bad as Virmire which senseless drama pandaring.   Bioware forgot the little fact that most RPG players are also completionist.   Sometimes  linear is not a bad thing.

either way.. I like  Miranda,  Tali and Garrus.

problems?  B)

Edit: Why any one is shocked the  VS, Tali, and Garrus  a back  is beyond me.  Most trilogies you end coming full circle by end of the whole thing. I saw it coming.

What I did not see coming was *SPOILER * possible getting better dialogue about their said involments with Cerebus than Miranda... now that is something to flip a table over.

Agreed.  If you let both of them die in the suicide mission, there should be two temporary slots in the 'squad' selection choice, not a permanent hole.  And you should be free to recruit two temp mates on whatever planet you visit.  But whatever's done is done.

You automatically have at least 1 squadmate from ME2 alive, VS and Liara... 3 squadmates for ME3.. And yeah it would suck to only have 3 squadmates, mot much selection but that's the consequence for letting your team die... But yeah, I guess it'd be too much to ask for your choices in ME2 to actually have a big impact in ME3

What I've learned is that the only important things from ME2 are:
- Meeting TIM.
- Possible cure to genophage.
- Knowing about the geth and herethics.
- Keeping Garrus and Tali alive.

The rest it looks that doesn't matter (even if you destroyed the base Ceberus recovers some tech).

Bioware Dev  meeting for ME 2

Dev 1: Yeah so we this whole Shepards  dirty dozen  theme going, with all these cool cast of bad asses.
Dev 2: yeah and this Suicde Mission with the Loyality mechanic but we don't expect most players to take the time to complete all the loyal missions. So our simulations so the character X, Y, Z are going to be killed of the most. Espically the Cerebus Loyalist... Nobody likes them.

Bioware Dev meeting for ME 3

Dev 1: I though you said  that no one would  do all the loyality missions - WTF , now  we have a cast of 14 characters to put in this game plus all the variable possiblities of different combinations of who lived and died.

Dev  2:   WHAT!!,  I didn't our players base were such completionist how was I supposed to know.

Dev 1: Yeah just like Deitz did know that 12+3= 15 and 18  GTFO... your fired. Now we have to fix this mess.   "Nobody going to like the Cerebus Loyatists"  sure - especially as you give her an ass J-lo would kill for.  <_<
