And well, when *Kelly* has more substantial dialogue, there's a problem.

The more I think of Diana Allers, the more it annoys me that a new minor character is placed on the Normandy for the whole game and elevated to LI status while Miranda is relegated to one mission and a few talks here and there.
Miranda's presence better be awesome, Bioware.... with everything as it is right now, I'm primed to explode...
Yep...big time.

Where did all this negativity come from?
Yesterday, jtav found a convo in the leak where Kelly Chambers explains, in great detail mind you, the circunstances that lead her to joining Cerberus as well as her particular feelings towards The Illusive Man. It's very well written with Kelly managing to become a much more complex character, introducing greyness to Cerberus, questioning her and Shepard's decision to leave the organization with her actual lines of dialogue filling small paragraphs.
Then it hit us: Miranda has none of this or so small that is barely worth mentioning.
:oI really dont get why people want to equate Diana to Kelly and them both to Miranda. How can anyone seriously believe that Kelly is gonna be a bigger and deeper character than Miranda??

I have to believe that Miranda is going to have a twist in her story and that part of that twist is why we are neither seeing or hearing about her. Of ME2 she was an important character so it would be hard to believe that they throw that character away.
It's possible. I would even go so far as to say I have an idea of what that might be, if it indeed made it into the game.
Regardless, what I was referring to above is dialog from the leaked script, which represents at least a rough draft of part of Miranda's role. It's extremely vague and amorphous (twist or no twist).

You know i try not to give into being negative but... that... is just arrgggh... "Da **** is that ****?"
I admit, I don't really know what's up with that. There is some good writing for Miranda in the leak, especially some of the romance material. But it must be said that a lot of the dialog is really vague and amorphous. You can't really tell what's she's been doing or what she plans to do, in most conversations.
Sometimes, it basically amounts to: "I've been doing some stuff, and now I have to do some other stuff. See you later." Actually, it's more like, "I've been getting in touch with some contacts, and now I have to look into a personal matter." But that's pretty much the same thing.
So, either, for some reason, the Miranda stuff is still a bit more rough than most of the script, or it's just not very well-written/thought out.
I can see why that Kelly snippet was so irritating to some (didn't read it until just recently). It's very detailed and specific, touching on some important/interesting Cerberus-related topics that Miranda's dialog completely glosses over. Weird.
:oNow thats very very very interesting. Why have specific stuff for everyone else, including Kelly, but then a light story that seems very incomplete and full of vagueness for Miranda, a very popular character that is capable of tons and survived most people's games. The mystery I think says a lot, especially concerning the Cerberus stuff, or lack there of.
And again its silly to think Kelly would get a better deal than Miranda. A lot of people seem to be speculating that this has something to do with the cost of Yvonne, which I think is nuts because I cant think of Bioware, let alone their EA overlords, as sparing any expense on a game like this.

That doesn't mean that I want her on the Normandy ... But I do want her to have an important part of the story, romanced or not. I don't think her potential death should play a factor in how she is treated ... see Garrus & Tali & Wrex & Mordin & Kaidan & Ashley. All could be six feet under but there they are!
:oEXACTLY!!!!! We know all those possibly dead characters have large and significant roles, even the ones not on the squad. Why would Miranda not get the same treatment. Its not cause Bioware/EA went cheap with Yvonne, thats dumb.
Some people have also suggested that Yvonne not being present in the "Voice Cast Reveal" video is a sign that her role is small and insignificant. This logic couldn't be more silly. 1) NOT EVERYONE WAS IN IT. Of the many characters and VAs in the game, only Illusive Man, Vega, Joker, EDI, Diana, Liara, Anderson, and FemShep were highlighted. No Garrus, Tali, Ashley, or Kaiden, four of the three other main squadmates, and no ManShep. Point is, its not like they showed everyone but Miranda. Now its easy to see why famous/recognizable face VAs like Martin Sheen, Freddie Prinze Jr, Seth Green, Tricia Helfer, Jess Chobot, and Keith David made the cut, and in that logic it is way more of note that some one of equal recognition like Yvonne Strahovski wasn't highlighted, but that's were my next point comes in. 2) CONFIRMED,Yvonne is back!!!! Even if Miranda was in the game for only a few simple convos and a mission, its not like Bioware couldn't just have used, at least very brief glimpses of that, or at the most tons of it if they wanted, and added her to the video. Videos like the "Voice Cast Reveal" are to promote the game by having famous faces, so regardless of how big or small her role was. For example a similar video done back to promote ME2 featured Carie Anne Moss for playing Aria, a character who's role in the game was significantly smaller than what those who have read the leaked script have implied about Miranda. Did that stop Bioware from including her? No. Seeing her two years ago in that video made me, and probably many others assume Aria was a bigger character than she was and I was excited about her because of who was playing her. Small or not, the video having Yvonne not it it seems pretty counter intuitive, which brings me to the next point. 3) Bioware likely has classified Miranda's role as entirely TOP SECRET, and she is not the only one. Now I'm not so much referring to other returning characters who have yet to be promoted like Jack, Grunt, Thane, Kasumi, etc, as much as I am looking at cool new characters like Kai Leng or Prothy. See when I think of those two characters, I think of characters Bioware would want a famous person to VA. We dont know, but they very well may have done just that. We dont know because... they arent in the video, and thats because Bioware doesn't want to reveal them in any form just yet. Thats easy to assume with the Prothy, but why not Kai Leng?? The answer is either his VA is no one notable, or its because regardless of who plays him, Bioware wont want to show him in promo material like that. All this means to me that if Miranda's role was something Bioware wanted to keep secret they wouldn't mind sacrificing the good PR caused by showing of Yvonne, the same way they are if the got famous faces for Kai Leng or Prothy. It doesn't matter how large Miranda's role is because now matter how small, i couldn't possibly be enough for Bioware to exclude someone as fanboy crushed on as Yvonne Strahovski from a video otherwise crafted to indulge that exact thing, fanboy crushes, unless they felt Miranda was THAT important to be kept secret.
I have not read the script, whatever little or unsatisfactory or vague role is described for Miranda, I do not know, but if its as vague as some have suggested, I think that alone is promising, and Yvonne not being in the reveal video only makes the point more clear that the mystery is for a reason.
Stay positive people. Literally everything else about this game seems to be awesome, Miranda is really only thing left hanging in the air as uncertain, but if it is for you and I than it must have been for Bioware and they aren't so dumb that they'd overlook that.
