@schemata, shepard1038:
About the future of Shepard & team after the war:

The reason why I'd prefer them to go their different ways is character growth. What the team members do over the course of three games will have changed them considerably. Miranda will have dealt with the ghost of her father and come to terms with what she is, Tali will have grown from a young girl to someone with the qualities of an admiral etc. etc.. If they continue as a team, the outward appearance would appear to lessen the impact of those changes.

Of course what character growth means for Shepard is up to your imagination, but my main Shepard's job after the war will have less of leading badass strike teams and more of using his canonical ability to convince anyone of anything.

It isn't just Miranda whose outfits are ridiculous of course. IMO, the whole concept of "iconic" outfits needs to be toned down from its comic book superhero origins to fit something like the ME universe.

Good analysis, but I disagree with the remarks about clothing being unconventional and ineffective.

The way I see it, every *combat oriented* sqaudmate is akin to a Marvel or DC superhero. These are individuals so skilled, that any one of them (and Shepard especially) would put an entire team of Navy Seals to the test.

Batman originally didn't wear armor in the comics (in most he doesn't in fact), because he was SO skilled, that conventional things like falling, taking bullets, and getting punched just weren't things that usually happened to him (unless he was fighting a super villian).

Hell, even Catwoman (spy, thief, combatant) is in tight leather, and none of us questions either of their outfits.

Miranda, Jacob, Thane, and Samara are all what I consider *combat oriented* squadmates. They are fighters, each with their own distinct styles, but each with superb skill.

If Miranda and Thane's intelligence/intuition rivals Bruce Wayne's (and I consider that likely), and all of their combat abilities are as strong as a super hero's, then I feel more comfortable with them dressed as they are. It makes sense, both for their characters, and the universe they inhabit.

And, unlike Batman (or some other human-powerless superhero) Miranda has the (super) ability of biotics. And guns.

If Batman fought with guns, Gotham would be a eutopia.

You think I'd be dumb enough to do it face to face? No, I'd resort to an email for this.

The problem is, we're supposed to take the ME universe at least halfway seriously. I'd criticize your standard superhero outfit as well if it wasn't a genre built on over-the-top badassery we aren't supposed to take seriously in the first place. ME attempts to be SF, with a few more or less acceptable breaks from reality. SF and superhero stories have different genre conventions, and mixing them up runs the danger of backfiring. IMO, it has backfired badly in ME2.

Even his Shep and Miranda marry i would see no reason for her to suddenly adopt his name. Can't see her being interested in that particular custom, which to me even feels rather antiquated in the 21st century.

Thats worst...  she has time to seethe, stew and plan your painful demise.    If you do it face to face...you might able to get way in the intail shock of the whole moment. ... Just be prepare to run.. really fast.

I think she would adopt Shepard's surname. Easy excuse to change her own, and it's a lot easier to get funding if you remind people you're related to the man responsible for saving the human race.

Love and a broken heart  can drive you to do crazy, crazy things.   What I do think is that she  would get herself to faster  and recover  quicker. Just because her pride would kick in a say.

Miranda Pride: You are acting a  damn fool... get your **** together.

Miranda: Your right I'm.

If you were tasked with putting Miranda on the squad, how would you go about it? I'd have her in Alliance custody. When Cerberus reveals itself as an enemy, you're asked to take her aboard the Normandy for possible intel. Only Leng is hunting her too. You rescue her and she takes the same role Jack had in ME2 of gadfly. Toss her in the brig if you want to make the parallels really explicit.
