As of now, ME3 feels like nothing more than a half-assed job by Bioware to meet deadlines. Instead of being better than its predecessor, it's now worse.

I'd consider their advance planning as half-assed. That in turn has compromised storytelling and characters. It seems they've made a judgement call to abandon variety in favour of depth on top of this or because of this. In reality i expect to find improvements in combat but the game experience itself i suspect i'll find to be rather a damp squib.

I wouldn't go that far. Banter and characterization are much improved. Moral choices are more complex. RPG mechanics are deeper. Miranda's role being bad is not the same as the game being bad.

I didn't mean that, but...banter still looks the same, characterization seems to have become worse, moral choices are now black/white, and the gameplay seems to have gone the way of CoD. Don't even get me started on the multiplayer.

Considering that ME3 was originally slated for a late November-December release and the furor that ensued after Microsofts' huge screw-up last summer (or was it *really* a screw-up?), a dedicated and well purposed development team could correct a lot of shortcomings and fill in a lot of plot holes in a two to three month time period. I'm guardedly optimistic they used that time well in a way that will satisfy Miranda fans.

I'm curious how much development time was actually spent on LotSB and just how big the team was that produced it.

I still haven't even purchased the game. I have an unwritten rule about spending more than fifty bucks for any game - domestic harmony being one of the reasons when taking all my other expensive hobbies into consideration - I might have to adjust that number for price inflation in the future.

Having the ability to wear a hoodie or have a mech dog follow me around the Normandy just doesn't sell me on the CE. Besides, my Shepard would probably have a cat in his cabin...the kind of striking feline that can walk through walls and surprise the other characters at any given time anywhere on the ship.

Miranda: "Shepard! Your cat is staring at me through the shower door, will you please come and get her out of here!"

I think ME3 will be a rather memorable game, all in all, except maybe for Miranda fans. I expect to like it as a game and as a story. But you're right about the half-assed advance planning. That they apparently didn't see that introducing 12 disposable team members in ME2 would lead to problems in ME3 - almost unbelievable. It's almost as if they bought into their own propagandamarketing selling each game as a self-contained unit instead of parts of a trilogy.

Question: Will you guys be happy if the Miranda content in the final isn't that different from the leak?

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about the game. I agree that the whole SM mechanic from ME2 was poorly implemented and that there are improvements to be made, but if LoTSB was a hint of things to come then I expect I'll have nothing to worry about.

Meer's performance in Lair was much better than most of his ME2 performance. Shepard shows anger, frustration, nervousness, etc and the leak shows that he's gotten some of the personality development that Hawke got in DA2.

When I watched this video today in Youtube, I was thinking that this would suits for Miranda and Shepard as well. Specially, given the tension between them.

Memorable, well yeah, for me i fear it will be memorable in a bad way, not just because of Miranda(but obviously her portrayal will have a effect). No doubt many people will like the small pool of characters they've focused rich content on.

Not at all.

To be more precise: I'll be disappointed beyond measure if Miranda's content is not considerably expanded into the topics of her ideals about human advancement, her history with Cerberus and her role in ME3's main plot.

In that case, it's possible I'll have to disown her.

I personally would certainly not be.

It's... interesting that the leaked material seems designed to please exactly no one (among fans of the character, I mean).

Some fans, I think, are most interested in the companion/squad member/spend time with Miranda/romance side of things. They certainly won't be happy, as Miranda isn't around much at all in the leak: no squad, no actual romance scene, no significant time on the Normandy (to the extent she is ever onboard at all).

Other fans are more focused on Miranda having a big impact on the war, being independant, accomplishing something important. Whereas in the leak she does nothing of note and her involvement in the Cerberus plot is of negligible importance, as far as the character's motivations and the actual impact of her actions are concerned.

In addition, no solid reason is given as to why she can't be around and can't join up (because she isn't doing anything important). Thus, the two aspects are linked.

- No confrontation with TIM or even a closure to her past with Cerberus.
- Her only concerns are Shepard (if romanced) and Oriana. Not human advancement.
- Her contribution to the war isn't important.
- No big consequence if she died in the SM.

Of course I'm not happy with her content in the leak. If it doens't change at all, I might even be more extreme than the panda team.

I'd suspect they wanted us to dump her, but she's too supportive and the romance too sweet. Methinks someone is enamored of the idea of Miranda as a tragic figure who may do great things, but it's all ashes for her. The interesting thing is that Shepard's lines in the romance express why I love her, but she doesn't show those traits in-game.

Hell no. I'd flip a couple buildings (Screw tables).

I may even have to go the extreme route and use my favorite form of torture.

I'm not going to drop Miranda as my favorite character (It isn'ther fault), but I may drop Bioware as my favorite developer (It IS theirs, however).

I was thinking something more along the lines of "Hang them by their wrists over a bottle of chlorine and force feed them gallons upon gallons of water". I don't think anyone wants to know WHY this is bad.

But Deception is fitting too.

Here's the thing: why would I want to romance Miranda? Yes, Shepard has nice lines, but Miranda herself is rather generic. Ash loves her family too. It looks like I'd better romance Liara if I want a brilliant idealist. Even Kelly comes off deeper.

Ash and Liara are probably not-so-great examples. They both have squad status, and thus more resources pooled together for themselves. Not sure about Kelly.

Jack comes off better as well. Real character growth, but she's still Jack.

You choose the wrong LI, now go and pick Liara, or the dextro team. BW made them to be the perfect LI.

I'm receiving that kind of vibes...
