It's... interesting that the leaked material seems designed to please exactly no one (among fans of the character, I mean).
Some fans, I think, are most interested in the companion/squad member/spend time with Miranda/romance side of things. They certainly won't be happy, as Miranda isn't around much at all in the leak: no squad, no actual romance scene, no significant time on the Normandy (to the extent she is ever onboard at all).
Other fans are more focused on Miranda having a big impact on the war, being independant, accomplishing something important. Whereas in the leak she does nothing of note and her involvement in the Cerberus plot is of negligible importance, as far as the character's motivations and the actual impact of her actions are concerned.
In addition, no solid reason is given as to why she can't be around and can't join up (because she isn't doing anything important). Thus, the two aspects are linked.
that's a good summary, just add the 3rd option for those who want both.

Wait a minute. Mr. Lawson is the Dragon? To whom? TIM?
Maybe this is more obvious to those who've read the leak. But that seems odd to me.
Shepard's story requires him to face Kai Leng in order to move on. Miranda's story progression is focused on her father, dealing with that would presumably allow her to go on to deal with her plot with Cerberus. I'm sort of going off of the idea that Miranda's plot fits into The Hero's Journey after all Liara's lines about the LI's in Lair of the Shadow Broker appear to be prophetic. If Shepard is going to be "Fighting for the future of humanity as evidenced by the perfect Miss Lawson" I assume that she must deal with her issues in ME3 so that she can move on to that future.

I see what you're saying. The Dragon though is subordinate to the Big Bad. I don't think Lawson is subordinate to TIM (if I'm wrong, don't tell me) or her personal progression subordinate to her Cerberus arc. That's why I was getting confused.Dr. Doctor wrote...

That's what I was thinking. I want to resolve it peacefully, but if I can't, go Geth. Admittedly I just want those Armatures and Colossi on my side for once. Though I'd miss Kal'Reegar.AgitatedLemon wrote...

I think without Tali you can't resolve the Quarian-Geth conflict.
Peacefully, I suppose. I was always pro-Geth anyway.
If that's the case, then pick the one which has a stronger military.
Goodbye quarians.

Yeah, the only quarian I actively like, and he's a side character. Go figure.
That said, I wouldn't say no to a platoon of geth Hunters, Primes, Armatures, and Colossi.

Bioware gives me a Quarian voiced by Adam Baldwin and I get Tali. In the off chance that I don't have Tali in a playthrough can I get Kal'Reegar instead?

No. Nice things are forbidden.
Come to think of it, I'd much rather have Reegar on my squad. He's an actual soldier.

I wasn't around to read the leak myself (I was concidentally taking time off from the BSN forums at the time) so all I know about it is what I've heard from everyone else. So taking that into consideration, I will likely be livid, but my canon Shep is committed to her anyway due to my headcanon. So I won't be changing to a different LI, even though I have yet to actually start my actual canon run.S.A.K wrote...
Question: Will you guys be happy if the Miranda content in the final isn't that different from the leak?
I do have a second MShep though, whom I'm planning to pair with Kelly.

All this stuff I've heard about Miranda's role in ME3 makes it seem really awful. Basically all that wasted potential. I mean, they made her nigh impossible to kill off in ME2, and her role is apparently pathetic in ME3. Give me a break BW!AgitatedLemon wrote...

And yet Tali, who is one of the easiest to kill off, gets the full treatment.

This was long before the leak. In August. But since there is no Miranda scene in the leak which could reasonably be called "very challenging", we have speculated it's the one very important scene with Miranda we absolutely know must be there - and isn't in the leak.Avy DiSartori wrote...
Do you guys remember someone said that Mac Walters (actually not sure if it was him or another writer) posted on twitter that he was writing an important scene in which Miranda was present? And it was "a very challenging scene to write"(something like that).. I was wondering if he twitted this AFTER the script leaks or before. If it was after, it shows us that Miranda's part was indeed incomplete(ok, pretty obvious assumption). Also, since he was complaining about the difficulty to write it, it could be something big.. at least bigger than what we have right now IMO.. just speculating though...

BTW I disagree about Mr.Lawson fitting the role of The Dragon in Miranda's story. He's more of a Big Bad - not so much a physical challenge than an emotional and moral one. She both works for and represents a future of humanity - in this confrontation she pits her vision of that future against her father's. After she's dealt with him, she can move on to realize her own.

Are you referring to a specific scene, or the general ending?
