I do not claim to be any good at writing but, if you want my advice, I think you're going about it the wrong way, jtav. Kai Leng's purpose there is obvious, to gloat, and Miranda being restrained instill certain primal fears.
However, would those be something Miranda would be scared of? What really affects her?
Being treated like an object so, personally, that is what I'd do. I would make the scene extremely clinical, much like the doctors who infected Grayson did not treat him like a fellow human being. No one talks to Miranda, she is just a piece of meat to be experimented on who will soon have no free will, why would anyone deem to talk to her? Whatever information she learns about the procedure comes from the doctors discussing it among themselves.
Then, perhaps you could bring about bad memories from similar procedures she might have underwent in her childhood because of her father. Compare the similarities of both medical teams and it could let us experience Miranda's fear and it could also serve as a catalyst for doubts regarding Cerberus.

I believe it was a lot more thought out; and the one way they got around having a ton of content untouched was by having situations where the me2 crew and some of me1 crew be easily replaced and hold stand alone positions that could be filled by another if that person was dead. People like to bring up tali and garris as the exception but I think they were probably always going to be squadmates that spanned the three games.  Another thing however, is hearing about the general thrust of miri in Me3 and examining her role in me2, I think her general purpose was to be cheat bait for shep in me2. 

Obviously that isnt a new thought or anything, but it fits really well for her having a death/redemption ending while having an unfinished living ending.  I also think VS Li reaction on horizon really bolsters this too. In short, yeah sounds like me3 will rock but miri fans will be getting the shaft. (sorry for spelling and flightly thoughts im tiredddd)

Comparing the ME2 characters with each other is meaningless anyway. There's no reason why they should be considered as a block.

Sometimes I wonder if she was solely around to make the VS love arc more interesting. that'd be one objective, while the other would be to sell cereberus as an organization different than we interpretated from me1. They did her really well and more than a few bought into miri and cerebrus both. But Me3 the writers would rather us go back to our me1 LIs and destroy everything about cereberus. ok its more complicated than that. but in short my opinion lately is a bummed one.

This was long before the leak. In August. But since there is no Miranda scene in the leak which could reasonably be called "very challenging", we have speculated it's the one very important scene with Miranda we absolutely know must be there - and isn't in the leak.

I havent read the leakk but you guys that have, you dont think he could be referring to her death scene as it sounded well done?

Not at all. The death scene, while emotionally intense, is rather simple. It wouldn't be challenging to write at all. The impression I mentioned includes not only that, but also comments by other team members etc..

Also about your earlier post: Bioware said they wanted to give all players a satisfying end to the trilogy. So, while of course there's no way to please everyone, treating the story arc where Miranda survives as an afterthought will ****** off a big number of players without necessity, not just because of the romance, but because she's the only character left to connect to if you have some sympathy for Cerberus' original missions statement. Should it turn out to be that way, I cannot see how that was in any way intended. They made her a very interesting character, appealing in several ways. To not expect she would be liked by many would be stupid, and to screw over those who like her deliberately would be cruel.

So, obviously there was some element of "cheat bait" in Miranda's design, but the way she was written in ME2 it is pretty clear to me that they intended her to be more if you wanted. Miranda and Ashley are too much polar opposites for that to be accidental.

Also, Chris Priestly said that Tali was a team member because of fan demand.

It makes no sense why he would say that only she would return because of fan demand when every fan out there was screaming for their favorite character to be in the game as a suadmate.[/run-on]

It strikes me as odd that Chris would say that about Tali, but doesn't say anything about Garrus, who I think has bigger fan demand than she does. Not to mention that Garrus feels kind of out of place on the main squad compared to everyone else who has some importance. Maybe it's a gender balance issue, but I feel that Miranda would have fit the squad more than Garrus(for obvious reason that don't need explaining.) In fact, I don't see why Miranda can't be on the squad period. I mean, the ME3 squad is made up of what, seven people(six if you don't get the DLC, and four if you kill two of them off in ME2?) What's one more?

In fact, he *may* have said that about Garrus as well, I didn't include him because I only recall Tali.

Apart from that, I don't necessarily need Miranda on the team. I need her to have an awesome story featuring everything we came to love about her - see the 10 reasons why we love Miranda in the OP.
