Speaking of the LotSB dossier, what's the point of it? What does Miranda being sterile add to her character?

because the guy who wrote the dossiers hates Miranda. Her dossier was made to dump her if romanced.

That's the impression I get.

I wonder exactly how many people DID dump her after they read it. I know I certainly didn't. That's quite a petty reason.

Then again, those were probably the same people that figure the sterility can't be circumvented or reversed.

edit: It's also a fair reason for me to like her more. She's sterile, and I feel bad for her because of it (Like I would for anyone else), but I like that she doesn't mope on about it or let it distract her. That said, I still want to cure it.

Or they want us to fee sorry for her. Or dump her.

I don't like that word.  "Sterile"  there is no indication she is... really.   They really don't know if it's genetic... problem seems to be conceiving.  That can be done through other means.  IVF... can she carry the baby if she conceived with Shepard's sperm?  Don't know.

I'm sure Miranda didn't leave him spermless.  I've read about some procedure to re-activate or get his sperm producing again.  I'll have to look through my research notes and links for that. It was an interesting read. :?

I doubt it. This "dumping theory" sounds weak. I'm more inclined to believe it was to put down her origins, to sell the idea that "natural" is better.

The LoTSB Dossier is blasphemy

I like to pretend it doesn't exist.

Then I go and play LotSB, and I'm disappointed all over again.

Outside of her being sterile, since it doesn't matter either way since anyone in this game getting pregnant is ridiculous, what else is in there that is considered bad?

It has nothing to do with Shepard. Shepard, AFAWK, is completely "normal" in terms of his genetic makeup (Plus the "upgrades"). He's still fertile.

Miranda has benign tumors that deny the conception. It really IS her.

Which I don;t actually mind because I agree. But her father should have paid the price, not her. Her creation isn't her fault.

For me personally, I dislike her entire dossier, with the exception of the Extranet History (Where she updated some subscriptions and bought some stuff), and the chat excerpt with Oriana.

Which is sad, considering how I like every other character's dossier to the fullest.

I honestly felt the opposite you did. I felt (and still feel) that it's rather pointless to build up this character in such a major fashion as they did with Miranda, and just... *poof*, nothing. Is there a trope for that somewhere?

Aborted Arc When the arc is started then never adressed.

They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot For when there was a really good oppertunity (see Okeer) but they don't take that option.

The Resolution Will Not Be Televised There's plot resolution, but we never see it.

I assume it's me you're replying to. It strikes people more on an emotional level if Miranda (the innocent in this scenario) is struck by misfortune. Helps get the message across.

And in a way Lawson does pay as not only does she rebel and (hopefully) contribute to the destruction of her creator, but even if everything went according to plan he still would've failed in his quest for a legacy.

How would you make him pay the price though?

I did not love her any less after i found out than before, however remember one thing... shepard got revived back to life!? science style...they can bring back someone thats been shattered, dead for good dropped from god knows what height, smashed the ground and get him into perfect condition, heck even better version of himself...meaning one fertilitly problem...easily solved.

I dislike how she comes off as socially awkward to the point where I seriously start wondering if she's mentally ill. And the combination of canceling a research magazine with getting a fashion magazine subscription. It sends the message that what she really wants are traditionally feminine things to the exclusion of the other aspects of her life.

Trust me, you have no idea how common an idea this is.

I've said it myself, Mordin, who's Mr. Friggin' Genophage, should be able to do an infertility in his sleep. With both arms tied behind his back.

The dating chat logs are good and I think fitting with her pre ME2 personality. The Oriana log is just failed writing I think.

I don't consider the magazine subscriptions related.

In regards to the magazine subscriptions, I think you may be looking too deeply.

There could be any number of reasons as to why she updated those 2 particular subscriptions to their current status.

Yep, dossier is utter garbage. Fortunately i headcanon that most of my Shephards have too much respect for Miranda to trawl through her private correspondence, which at least means i don't have to re-read it ever again.

I remember the first time I heard Mordin sing, I thought my game broke, because of the long pause afterwards. But then he just awkwardly coughed.

It was hilarious.

Well, the medical letter is a reasonable thing for Shepard to read.

With Miranda, it makes sense for her to do it (At least, in regards to her still working with Cerberus). TIM could very have said to keep tabs on Shepard's mail to see if anything interesting or potentialy incriminating comes in, and get rid of it.

With Shepard, it seems more like "Let's see if I can find anything to use for blackmail later".

Yeah. Thrice damn it. And that after half a year of appreciating that the genetic engineering did only good for Miranda. That was a major kick in the face by whoever wrote that abomination of a dossier. Well, we'll see how open to other interpretations her story will turn out to be.

As for the infertility: reversing that should be child's play for the woman who brought a man back from the dead. And if not exactly reversed, it should be reasonably easy to circumvent it. Someone at Bioware had no idea of what assisted reproduction technology in the ME universe should be able to do, between Lazarus, Miranda's origins and various other evidence that points that way.
