I'm not a Miranda fan. Some (That some being, well, me) would say she's the worst written character in ME2. Maybe that's just because I'm such a Jack fan, but I digress.

It does seem stupid to me she wouldn't be playable in the third game. Pretty important character. And just because people like me kill her in almost every playthrough doesn't mean most others do.

But I guess it's probably because Cerberus is your enemy. I know she *can* quit at the end of ME2, but that's only IF she's in your squad and IF you choose to destroy the base. I'm assuming she sticks with them otherwise...

Her ME3 content is... pretty anti-Cerberus, in regards to the basic overview.

I don't want to sound like I'm judging your views, but why do you dislike Miranda so much?

I just always found her to be very irritating. I could never side with her in the fight with Jack, even if I was doing a playthrough to specifically kill Jack (Which killed me in turn), just because she's such an ice queen ****. I watched all the romances because I thought that'd be the best way to really know her but she was still pretty... annoying. I tried taking her with me on missions but just got sick of her. I honestly can't pinpoint one thing that makes me dislike her but I tried... Still, I like her better than Ashley. Not like she'll be showing her face in the vast majority of my ME3's anyway... :)

I wouldn't give the dev team that much credit. I think people who you help might show up at the end to lend a hand, but having something to offer to the central plot is hoping too much.

As a general rule, "might be dead" characters give you options and assets that you don't have access to otherwise. The scenarios vary a lot, but that is how it works overall.

I understand that part, but all of the ME2 exclusives have stand-ins who you can assist in ME3 who will lend you resources in the end. That doesn't mean that Miranda will have anything to do that will be considered important that her stand-in couldn't do. That is the second downside to having any of the ME2 crew as minor characters, they can't be vital to the story since they all have replacements who can take their place.

That's not how it works. There are stand-ins that allow the missions to function when that is necessary, but you lose resources and options because the stand-ins do not provide them.

Would you care to clarify, because that's how I've come to understand it.

Basically, if they died, you're screwed. How screwed varies.

See, even Miranda-dislikers approve with the fact that she has to have an important role in ME3.

Edited my post above.

Basically, this design allows the "might be dead" characters to be significant, when alive, while not eliminating content from the game if they are dead.

according to the leak she never was in Cerberus (not even a single mention about her working in the past with cerberus).

So in terms of gameplay there will be differences, but how can Miranda be vital to the story now that they've chosen to minimize her role?

Horses for courses. I found roleplaying a character who romanced Jack made me appreciate her character more even though prior to that i'd pretty much found her extremely annoying.

Fair enough. I respect your opinion, even though I don't share it. The OP, of course, highlights why I love Miranda.

edit: I think it's terribly ironic that even people who don't like Miranda think she needs a better part in ME3, though.

A large role is not necessary for this system to basically function. To take Jack as an example, if she survives ME2 and you make the right choices in ME3, she gives you important assets that you can't get otherwise and which help you build toward better outcomes of the game's main plot.

That's not true. She even got a retroactive promotion.

I was the same way with Miranda when I first played. Jack's trailer is what made me want to get ME2, so learning about her and Miranda's interaction made me hate her at first. Then I decided to make a Shepard and went after her, and grew to like the character almost as much.

Curious: Does anyone know how Miranda (And by association, the rest of the ME2 romances) and the romance is going to be handled? I mean, apart from the continuation that everyone knows about.

I ask because Chris posted in general that the ME3 romances are going to be, more or less, like how they were in the previous games, but since Miranda obviously isn't present in the same fashion as the ME1 romances or the new characters, I'm curious as to how it's going to play out after we finish all of her content. Is it like how it is in ME2, where you call her up and snuggle? Or is it something else entirely?

What is there to be happy about? Miranda's role? It's bordering on pathetic and gimped.

The quarter-second of footage she had in the trailer? Too little to base anything on, apart from the obvious "She has shorter hair".

Can anyone PM me on how exactly did Bioware screw over Miranda?

Is it because she's not a squadmate or what? I need a clear clarification here. (I don't care if there's spoilers).

I'm not whining, I'm being honest.

@JB that it was.

It'll be good seeing our favorite woman's face again on March 6th.

Hmm...I haven't had a good look at Miranda's upper back in ages, but.....how the hell does she open that zipper and button-like thing between her shoulder blades? It looks as if it's designed to open there.

Well the trailer isn't about Miranda so the excessive ****ing is unnecessary
