Ashley's romance is very good in ME1, and she's also quite badass as a Soldier. So she's definitely a contender worth considering if she's alive. Still she's not on Miranda's level, and I'd feel like an idiot *and* a jerk if I went back to Ashley after having romanced Miranda. So it won't happen...

Ah yes...in Cyrus Shepard's timeline she's also dead.

Ashley is dead in most of my games. I'm too besotted with Kaidan for my own good. Which is what I meant by wired. I suspect romance is one area where gender differences matter.

That's why I always split my ME1 playthrough on the romace part. I have one version of it where I wait for Miranda and one version where I romance Ash, just in case. She gets the Miranda treatment in ME1 (in terms of her always coming on missions with me, even though we're both Soldiers).

Are you sure? Because they've made Ashley into quite the temptress which lots of people don't like.

At least I won't have that worry about because they'll be options for me, but most know where my loyalties lie.

And given what happened on Horizon, some regret not leaving her there. I don't, but we aren't exactly on good terms, yet. She'll have to prove herself which I'm sure she can being and born and bread soldier.

That would make the game quite sane then! Really, you'd jump striaght to Insanity? Interesting. I'm thinking about it, but I might play on Normal to familiarize myself with it first. I played ME2 on Veteran once, but when I switched to the PC and played me1 again (which is a painful experience), I had to import a second time, so I'm playing ME2 on Normal right now. 

But I want the Ultimate Challenge. So I'm skipping Veteran, AND Hardcore, and Straight to Insanity. It wil be the greatest ME Experience ever, until ME3.

But with Beloved Miri at my side, I shouldn't worry.<3<3<3<3

I like both characters as well and wish that Shepard didn't have to choose ... but such is life.

As far as comparing them, thay are different cups of tea: Ash is a "sweet tea" and Miranda is a "Madura tea". I happen to like all kinds of tea ....

Well that's why there are multiple saves
I know I have at least one save with Ashley as LI.
Other's are with Miranda.  Can't bring myself to go with a different ME2 LI.

The part where she says: "...brought up with no friends, pushed to meet impossible demands..."  is basically what my dad tried to do while I was growing up.

I think that's where I can identify with her the most.  Otherwise I identify more with Shepard

To be honest, there would need to be a character that refuses to leave the ship on missions, cries at the word "reaper", avoids Grunt & Jack out of fear and sneaks peeks at Miranda as she enters or leaves a room .. that would be me = self-insert.      

I would prefer to be a character like Miranda as long as I wasn't stuck with an "ugly" Shepard.

It's a little like that for me too. I usually play female protagonists if I have the choice, and Miranda would be *the* dream protagonist for me. Only I find it hard to do in ME2 with Shepard's overpowering presence, and since I'm male in RL I get drawn into maleShep more easily than you.

That's why I like to say Miranda needs her own game. A game set in the ME universe with Miranda as the protagonist, that's something I'd likely preorder without a second thought.

The weird thing is I have a tabletop RPG character who is very much like her and who's named "Mirande". It's my most favorite tabletop RPG character. And no, I created her long before ME came out.

No. Miranda is my LI because I'm attracted to her on her merits - but that is done through my avatar in the world, Shepard, who is my embodiment and makes/reflects my choices and values therein.

Do you have both on PC and 360/PS3?

Ah, seems like you took the gradual approach. I went from Casual and jumped the Grand Canyon to Insanity. However, you may find that Insanity's not that difficult - at least oce you have everything figured out. And yeah, take her for the duration - nqa!
