Death is fairly easy to fix, with or without fanfic. The bullet was a few millimeters to the left. Not to mention Lazarus, AIs, clones...Death doesn't hold the terror it once did in ME. Fixing mangled characterization takes actual work.

True enough. I recently rewatched the Pirates of the Carribean movies and though I hated it when I first saw it, I rather liked Barbossa's reintroduction at the end of the second, the way it was done I mean. I think Miranda coming back should have an equal level of the dramatic.

That being said I'd rather not go through her death at all if you don't mind.

Bioware would be shooting themselves in the foot by reducing Miranda's role to what we saw in the unfinished script. So I refuse to believe they did that. Am I being too optimistic here? :(

Eh, personally I hope that Miranda's role in the game is good enough that I don't feel obligated to rant about it here post-release. There are other things I'd rather be doing.

Which isn't to say I won't be around to discuss all the details if it is good, of course.

Well of course if it is good and i am in any way satisfied i'll stay around long-term discussing it and waiting to see what the future holds.

Possibly. Of course, any information they didn't make public will be known in the full game. As it stands, her role is pathetic and FUBAR.

Nobody knows. But what you're describing is why the thread cycles through shock, horror, disbelief, anger, denial, frustration, sadness, dejection, depression, anxiety, fear, hope, rage, etc., in no particular order...

I think it's safe to say we'll all be doing that.

Well... more like "enables the thread to cycle". Or "provides the space in which to cycle". Nobody knows the "why". Or if they do, they aren't telling.:bandit:

I'd say anxiety.

Well, "Bioware wouldn't do that" is one of the arguments I've always brought up against a forced death. The same with "no happy ending for the romance". So I'm tentatively optimistic we'll get a happy ending.

However, would Bioware drop important aspects of a character to make her easier to deal with? Would they enforce an interpretation of her character we all have, at one time or another, said we don't want? Well, of course they'd do the former if they're pressed for time. As for the latter, it depends on how enamored the writers are of a certain vision of Miranda. Would they press the message "Everything she is, everything she's done and all her ideals, all that means nothing in the face of her love for her sister" on unwilling players? All I can say is that I find jtav's "All That Remains" scenario preferable to that, and that's saying a lot given that jtav's writing a scenario we've listed in our "do not want" list.

The only reason why what's in the script is not listed in the "do not want" list as the worst scenario this side of a forced death is that none of us ever thought it remotely possible that Miranda's ideals of human advancement and her Cerberus history could be completely ignored by the writers.

Will they be? We'll know in 23 days.

Agreed, "wait and see" is probably the only thing we could do.
I assume we won't have any other official infos related to Miranda until March 6th (or 8th:?).
I'm still hoping we'll have a decent role for Miranda in ME3, even though I'm pretty sure it won't satisfy all of our expectations but for once, I'd be happy to be wrong.

I can honestly say that this is one of the few times in my life I'd be ecstatic to be wrong.

I'm just going to take a step further and wait for the reviews which usually come out on the day or week of release then make up my mind. Hopefully the script has been changed, but what we've seen so far has just corroborated the script.

edit: That smile is during the SM, after the crew and the escort come back with no casualties.

Nice screenshot.

And yes, what's in the leak never even occurred to me. I figured, at worst, she'd die escaping Cerberus after being wracked with guilt. But never that she'd be irrelevant, that she'd never really think about Cerberus.

Excelent that she got a big part, Bioware have seen her popularity and it also is intresting because Cerberus being the enemy and she most probably left Cerberus shortly after The Collector Base no matter Paragon or Regenade  - Another intresting possibility is that she is loyal to Cerberus but she's in love with Shepard

No in Me3 Cerberus is hunting her down.
