Right. Since when is classical music fun?

Depends on your tastes. If you like it, classical music can be very fun. Same goes for someone who likes hip-hop or country or soul or whatever.

No classical music isn't fun at all. Even if you like it. I would understand if it was actually something you could party too. Instead... It's classical. How dull.

So that's Miranda's only fun interest then? Wow.

Some people do find classical music fun. She also seems to be something of a clothes horse.

I find classical music can be fun... but then I'm one of those that can sit and listen to music for hours without doing anything else so......

Fun is subjective, having a good time is subjective. Some people have fun while listening to classical music, others have fun exercising, others still enjoy debating.

And yes, I can recall at least a few instances of Miranda joking. She has a very dark, sarcastic humour.

Sitting there, listening to classical isn't fun. You enjoy it. Difference.

It is fun for those that enjoy it.

People who go out to see their local town/city orchestra aren't doing it just because they enjoy the music. If that were the case, they'd just stay at home and listen to music. They go out because they find the live performance fun.

Considering the fact that Miranda is an intellectual, her digging classical music is totally 'in charater.' If she were a slackjawed simpleton on the other hand, I'd expect her to like Rap.

As for having a sense of humor. Miranda has one, its rather dry but its there and it tends to skew towards the Bond One-Liner side of the spectrum.

For instance:

Shepard: I've had enough of this place for a lifetime.

Miranda: Or two in your case.

or:

Miranda: I'll miss you Niket...(fires)...figuratively speaking,

leet's see, i'll see that face of Liara, garrus, tali for hours (character that I began to despise for the pandering), and I'll only see Miranda face for 5 min??

It's just doesn't make any sense for me.

Pretty much.

Even I (and I think Garrus is one of the best squadmates, in combat and out) am beginning to hate team Dextro. Liara, not so much, I still like her. She wasn't *literally* forced down our throats for 3 games.

I'm all for fanservice, but not to the point where it actively and negatively affects my playing experience.

Like I've said before, Kal'Reegar is the only reason why I'll push for peace at this point. Otherwise, I'd pick the Geth's side. As it is, Tali won't be leaving the Normandy if I can help it.

I have to say that you're not alone jtav.
The more the release date approches the more I'm getting sceptical about her role.

Do you think Miranda actually likes to have fun?

Depends on what you mean by "fun". Like, going to theme parks and plopping down to play some video games... Probably not. Miranda has always struck me as the type of person with refined tastes. An obvious example is her fondness for classical music. She could very well enjoy going to see live concerts, or even playing some of her own.

Miranda and my Shepard can do a myriad of activities together.

edit: She considers herself to not be funny, but she's shown on numerous occasions to be very funny, if unintentionally. For example, on Korlus, when dealing with the injured Blue Suns merc.

Miranda is not funny at all. The only funny thing that came out that romance was Shepard's rape face.

I wouldn't be in a relationship with somebody who can't have a laugh or a joke, or a good time. That is why Miranda's romance isn't fun. The only good thing is her ass. That's why most people romance her anyway.

Ok, look...

If you're not going to actually hold a fruitful discussion, could you at least leave? Without sounding like a dick, you have yet to contribute anything.

All you've done is say that Miranda is boring and unfunny, both of which are subjective. It would be fine if you left it at opinions, but you haven't. You've continuously tried to force your views down our throats, and we clearly don't agree with you. so just drop it. Furthermore, as I quoted above, you consider the only redeeming factor to her romance to be "dat ass". I could write an essay on why I think Mmiranda's character and romance arc is absolutely amazing, but it won't change your mind. You're likely just going to continue the drivel that you've put down already.

You've made your distaste for Miranda very clear in other threads, but please, do not spread it here to her supprt and discussion thread.

As I've made clear, it won't do anything to change your mind. If you want the abridged version, just look at the OP's checklist.

Nah.

She's just now starting to notice it.

It's very subtle, like indoctrination.

As for the ship, of course she would have the ability to captain a ship. But I don't think she has the inclination. Commanding a ship with a large crew would not be a calling for her. She'd prefer a ship just big enough to transport a small infiltration team. Also she'd pilot it herself.

Well what are we defining as large? I woudn' t see her commanding a dreadnaught or even a destroyer. But for all her apparent size, the Normandy doesn't feel that big when you're onboard. And what's her enlisted crew listed at, 30ish? Even that can be decreased with an AI such as EDI on board.

Actually I do see her commanding a Normandy-style ship. Maybe slightly smaller (the size of the SR-1 as opposed to SR-2). Stealth capabilities are a must but she can still pack a punch. The scenario I envisioned would have her commanding a true sister ship to the Normandy. Of course that was initally thought to be during the war. Her ship wouldn't see as much action afterwards but would nonetheless be ready to go when needed.

I figure Miranda would also cut down on crew but having her "specialist" team double as crew, in addition to an AI (not completely unshackled of course). On the Normandy the crew just handles the ship and there are quite a few squadmates just sitting around (particularly in ME2). No free rides on her ship.

And there would be a pilot for "routine flying", though she could and would fly it herself if needed.

As I pointed out, here's the OP's checklist.

Why do you like Miranda?
There are many different reasons why people like Miranda. Here are some of them. Note that the reasons for liking her as a character may differ from those for being attracted to her for a romance. I've tried to put the list in a descending order of importance, but there is some disagreement about the order, except for (1), which seems to be universal consensus among her fans.
(1) She’s an independently powerful and competent woman who can deal with her problems – professional or emotional – on her own (note: that doesn’t mean she doesn’t appreciate help). She’s the only female LI character who plays in the same league as Shepard. That makes her a perfect companion for him.
(2) She’s morally ambiguous. Black and white types tend to be predictable – and thus, often less interesting than those with grey morality. Her mental flexibility also means that she adapts better to situations where conventional morality just doesn't apply.
(3) She’s emotionally detached... - enough to be fascinating and refreshing, but not so much as to be unlikeable. All too often women in fiction are represented as more or less defined by their emotions. Miranda breaks that pattern. She can be professional; she can be coldly detached or coolly unmovable. She can also be emotional, but she’s not restricted to that.
(4) ...but does warm up to those she respects and trusts. Trust and (professional) respect are interwoven in her relationship to you. Once you've gained them, she becomes more open with you, and you know that's something special.
(5) She’s a “spy with superpowers”. This combination of power and mystery is irresistible to many of her fans.
(6) She's a woman, not a girl. Her grown-up and balanced personality attracts many fans.
(7) She's unapologetically sexual - and not presented as a sl*t because of it (forget the ass shots and pay attention to her behavior if you don't believe it). That's refreshing because more conventional stories like to paint a woman who enjoys sex - to say nothing of sex in engine rooms - in a more negative light.
(8) She's human. For those who find interspecies romance unconvincing, that’s an important aspect if you want to romance her.
(9) She’s engineered to be perfect. That makes her special in a way you cannot acquire by learning or even character development. While for some, that’s a point of attraction in itself, if you’re a transhumanist you might also be thrilled by the fact that she might be – dare I say it – the genetic destiny of humanity.
(10) She’s beautiful. This point is not as minor as people might want to make themselves believe. It’s not a necessary condition for liking her, but Miranda would be a different character if she were ugly. If you think she's not beautiful, look at these screenshots. one two (Screenshot 3 didn't go with the quote, so only 1+2 are here)

These are just a few of the reasons why I like Miranda.
