The first time I knew of Miranda's existence was when I played the game. Something about this icy, faintly evil woman (okay, she's not evil, but you must admit the opening does give her a certain air of menace) compelled me. Especially when she shot Wilson.

I recall the hate heaped upon her pre-release. I didn't read any spoilers, but that was very noticeable. It made me curious - someone who evoked such a reaction had to be interesting. And didn't she turn out to be exactly that....

The scene with Wilson and the conversation on Minuteman station - that was all it took to get me hooked.

I suppose that is true, but it is about time I showed my support for a main role for Miranda, a she is my favorite crew member and LI by a long shot. That said, I thought Miri fans were in the minority compared to other crew members. This thread kind of proved me wrong.

Gauging Miranda's popularity has been a favorite pastime here since the beginning. Most forum polls put her about on the same level as Ashley and Liara and somewhat behind Tali, but the picture is skewed because she's more controversial and forum polls aren't representative.

Personally, I wouldn't care one bit about her popularity were it not for the impact it might have on her ME3 presence.

I hope they keep her hair. I'm terribly fond of it.

They should keep the style but make it look more natural.

@Vertigo_1
I don't think she'll look like that. That figure is taller than Miranda, and I don't think they'd give her a completely opaque helmet. Also it has been confirmed that the figure in this armor is not unique, i.e. it can't be Miranda or another named NPC.

BW is doesn't lack intellect (for lack of words).

I would like for her to be a perm squadmate; however, if there's a good reason that she must be otherwise, I think they'll be quite thorough with it. They did say your squad won't work like it did in ME2. I'm confident they won't screw us over as they realize how popular Miranda is. Just be patient. In the meantime, keep the discussions about Miranda going. We'll find out what she'll be up to in due time!

Don't be too optimistic - just remember what they did with Morrigan. Apart from that I'm not too concerned with her team member status. Screen presence, opportunities for Interaction and her role in the plot, that's what will make or break her in ME3. Her team member status is only important because it will influence her screen presence.

It was for an INTRO.  Not necessarily a permanent thing.

After that I would imagine her in that armor without a helmet, in a vacuum however she could wear a different type of helmet.  We don't know their height either.  She could have that armor but modified for her height
I'm still sticking to it though, that armor looks nice.

I know this, I was the one who asked about this originally.
Doesn't mean you can't show it off in a cutscene to introduce her.

I can't because I haven't played that game. And get the screen time thing. I'm not saying she'll be in for the entire game, but I know she'll be in there. They dd not build her up like this for nothing. The entire Cerberus thing, her family, the overall mission. All this build up, but no pay off should be the last thing they consider. While I wouldn't mind watching "The Miranda Show," I wanna play Mass Effect 3 as well. Considering that I did watch said show while playing ME2, "commercials breaks" are welcome though I won't watch them. I'll play ME3 until the show resumes.

I should make an effort to go to that - it's at Earl's Court, which isn't too much of a trek...

'bout an hour and a half on the train for me, provided the underground's not on strike/maintenance/weather delays (too hot/cold).

We still need Miranda gameplay. I'll relax after that surfaces.

This.

Two chances this summer for those on this side of the pond. Has anything surfaced about what they'll present at GamesCom in Cologne on August 18-21? All I have seen is a confirmation Bioware will be there.

I guess a hands-on demo featuring Miranda *and* with a PC interface will be too much to hope for.

You know, I think it's almost guaranteed that Miranda, outside these forums, is more popular (at least compared to Tali) than most character's, with the possible exception of Ashley.

Tali is popular here on these boards, but these boards are hardly representative of the general gaming public, I mean, you'd have to be a pretty large fan to post (regularly) on a board owned and operated by the actual game developers.

Tali is interesting, but so to is Miranda. And lets face it, Miranda more closely represents human concepts of physical attractiveness (which I think is at least initially important) and thus, well.. you know the rest.

Anyway, I'm confident Miranda will play a significant role in ME3 (I personally don't care so much whether she's 'permanent' or not, as long as I can interact with her regularly and in an emotionally engaging manner (read: important) -- although I will probably miss her Tactician/Leader passive). I just hope/need Yvonne to reprise her role. It just wouldn't seem the same character otherwise imo. It would be like Sarah Walker being played in the 5th season by someone else.

Is her role in ME3 already confirmed? I don't know if IMDB has an official source for it, but it states that Yvonne Strahovski is a confirmed cast-member(lacking the "rumored" status).

Yeah, but I think imdb also has Matthew Fox listed as Cmdr. Shephard for the movie (series), but as far as I know that's just a rumour too.

I have no doubt Strahovski will be back, though I wouldn't mind a recast.

Well that's reasonable enough. I'd speculated that the "confirmed" casting on IMDB indicated that Miranda might be revealed during one of the upcoming conventions.

Nope!  I'd love one.   I can see my maleshep doing just that. Walking along and him being such a big flirt.  Gives her a nice love tap on the butt with his hand.  She does have a nice firm butt. ;)

I like to believe that, but we have no data to support it. I wish Bioware would publish some statistics about that - after ME3 is out and such debates here won't transform into popularity contests any more.

Anyway, I'm confident Miranda will play a significant role in ME3 (I personally don't care so much whether she's 'permanent' or not, as long as I can interact with her regularly and in an emotionally engaging manner (read: important) -- although I will probably miss her Tactician/Leader passive). That's about the least of my worries. I agree it would be likely be jarring, but I could live with it  much more easily than with a reduced role, interaction or screen presence.

@Mdoggy1214, enyasoul:
Not with me. I find that terribly condescending. Now there's an option I definitely wish *not* to be in game.

It would be a little jarring, but not unbearable. Strahovski is wooden in spots, but she does contempt very well.

I don't see how that is condescending. Have you ever spanked your girlfriend? Men do it all the time. (even in football... men slap other men's behind)

I saw it as a mean of affection/flirting... my maleshep is renegade after all. He can be flirty... :D
