No. The fact that she's replaceable renders this point moot.

Not necessarely. The size of Miranda's role is unnacepatable, true, but that's not the point here.
The point is that Miranda does something impressive and that goes a long way in defeating Cerberus. Unfortunately, the same results can be accomplished by someone else. This is upsetting, of course. There needs to be negative consequences for Miranda's death.
However, she still does something impressive that places Shepard close to defeating Cerberus. This is not rendered moot just because she has a replacement.

What Miri dies? God dagnit and the stupid team Dexto @sshats live? I've been spewing forth like a mad man since I was emailed the leaked scirpts by a freind and looked at Samara, Thane, Kelly Chambers, and Jacob T. and that was enough to p!ss me off.
I've been a fan of ME since E3 2006 and been playing it since it came out on the 360 and the ME2 esclusive characters are so much more interesting than the ME1 ones. They had more life and character to them with Wrex being the sole ME1 character I enjoy as much as the ME2 characters.
But still besides the point and back to the point Miranda has one of if not the best character thread here too bad Samara, Jack and Thane can't have as great a thread.
Maybe it pays to act like a Tali Wanker?

I hear you, been a fan since it was anounced too, heck I read Revelations twice before the first game came out.

Since this thread has spoilers anyone know where I can go to talk with other people royally P!ssed off about Thane?

Lul, Miri thread = great? I can't say I agree, none of the "fan threads" are great. I am sure Tali's fan thread is such as "great" as this one. Neither present the whole fanbases of the characters they were created for.

If you want to sound like a bitter jerk all the time, then please do it elsewhere. Sure people, me included, are annoyed about Miri's small role but this is starting to get really old. And people sound like whining preteens.

After playing the demo my expectations of the game plummetted even further through the floor. Only reason i'm still planning on buying is the hope that Miranda story has been improved to properly deal with her Cerberus Arc, not the laughable content as of the leak.

I've always been worried about Miranda and that her lack of presence would impinge on my enjoyment of the game but i honestly didn't have the worries about roleplaying that i have now after playing the demo.

I throught the script was great. When haven't we seen in Me1 an Me2 that the renegade and paragon dialogue leads to the saying the same thing and Its a demo they have to cut dialogue and content.

Calm down. Like almost everyone else, Miranda can die or survive, depending on several factors you can influence.

BTW, *of course* Liara appears to be an exception (imagine Bailey's tone when he tells you they fixed the Presidium first) again.

I have the same preference for the ME2-exclusive characters you have. But what can we do? Bioware made their decision, and all we can hope for at this point is that Miranda's story is good. I recommend toning down the complaints and waiting until the game is out. I assure you, I'm primed to explode, and most others here are, too, if Miranda's story is not good. But I'd rather have a good story and be proven an idiot for worrying so much for four months.

Mass effect has always had as Sheriff Buck would call it 'the illusion of free will' which made it immersive. As of the demo that illusion seems broken imo. Hoping the cut dialogue choices re-establishes it.I'm very much getting the feeling they wanted to define Shep in stone for the casual player but hope i'm wrong.

Dont care about VS (manly Ashley) and Tali (I really dont have a problem with Garrus), I just wanted Miri in my squad for ME3 and Bioware has taken her away to feed the ME1 squadmates down our throats. That the biggest let down I got from Bioware and the game wont be the same when Miri isnt in your squad.

I still think not including Miranda in the team creates a potential for an great story for her, even if most of it takes place offscreen. The problem is they'd have to add significantly to what's in the leaked script to make her story great enough to balance her not being on the team.

Miranda has a big part in the Cerberus plot of ME3 (her father has to do with that)  and Kasumi (she and Thanes son will be investigating something on the Citadel).

Well, actually....according to the leakes script, she hasn't. Admittedly there appears to be a decisive action she takes but that's mostly accidental. Her  motivations appear to be purely personal, in some sort of "Loyalty Mission 2.0" way, which is what got most of us here so riled up.

We'll all know how it goes in three weeks. Very long three weeks

I'd be more interested in finding out who exactly her father is. Maybe there is a mission about it? But it would be fine for me if it just comes up in a conversation.

Was thinking of what would be the best movie from the 20th century for Miranda to see and came to the conclusion that it would be 2001: a space odessey. HA

Errm... Why?

Have you not seen it?
Its got human advancement, aritificial intelligence(damned AI), its in cold empty space, classical music, and its visually stunning. Some people would dismiss it as "boring" and "emotionless" too.Image IPB
Do you think there's a better option?

I ask because that movie is 2 hours of 20 lines of dialogue and mind-rape visuals, tied to an absolutely absurd, albeit highly philosophical novel.

I think she'd enjoy Solaris. The philosphical edge combined with the empty lonliness of space fueled by the grief of one person. It's almost a biography of her.

I disagree. Miranda is practical rather than philosophical, or she'd have more to say about her genetic engineering, and possibly would've dealt with it better. Also space is something to travel through for her, nothing that evokes existential loneliness, definitely nothing fundamentally mysterious, and what has she got to do with grief?

If someone suggested there were parallels between Solaris and her own story, she'd scoff, and rightly so.

@Darth JoDa:
There will be a mission.

Am I the only one who is for-sure staying with Miranda, no doubts?

Miranda is ME2 is awesome. I'll be happy if she's awesome in ME3 as well. I'll be less happy but ok if she isn't awesome on screen in ME3 but I can nonetheless pretend the awesomeness is still there.

However, if something contradicts the core traits I valued in her in ME2 - the drive to achieve the impossible, the ideals of human advancement, the willingness to compromise morals (up to a limit) for results - then no, she isn't for me anymore.

Not that I'd go for anyone else if that happens. There is no replacement for Miranda, in ME2 she was everything I always wanted in a video game LI character. Hopefully she still is....

Exactly this. In ME I romanced Ashley, and now I'm replaying my canon import in ME2 and I was thinking about romancing Miranda, but I don't know the consequences of cheating on Ash. I don't want to lose them both  Can anyone who read the leaked script suggest me what happens?

I played the demo earlier today. It is so awesome. I can't wait till it comes out. The bad thing about demos is that they end! The one thing I didn't like was that every time that Garrus and Liara talked I wondered what Miranda would say at that moment. I'm gonna love every second of ME3 but I'm really gonna miss Miranda... Hopefully Bioware will give Miranda the treatment she deserves...

Shame Miranda is not a squadmate.

Least there will always be ME2, you get her for like 99% of the game. That's nothing to sneeze at friend's
