I don't think the camera angles we see on attractive female characters in TV/Movies are anywhere near as bad as we saw in ME2.  Or if they are that bad, at least they're genuine about their intention (i.e. slow-motion, close-ups, etc.)

Hmm I think you should pay more attention. There are far more bad camera angles in many movies.
The difference is that during the film, the action doesn't stop until the spectactor choose the dialog.

Well, as I pointed out, when they are bad, they're at least obvious about their intent to tittilate both the character and the viewer.  These shots were just ass shots for no reason other than to be ass shots.  There's not even any indication that Shepard notices.

Hmm, I would be surprised if Shepard didn't notice that ...

No seriously, it's not bothering me that much because I always try to choose my dialog options very quiclky (to avoid stops during conversations). The scene is better this way, and you barely notice the ass shots. Here is for example how I play this scene :

And the pacing is fine, even with a pause here and there.  My point is that the shots don't do anything to help tell the story.  They don't indicate that Shepard is getting an eyeful, or that Miranda is trying to use her wiles on Shepard.  They're simply gratuitous butt-shots.

Well, since Miranda is quite well written, it would be unfair for her fans to remove her out of the picture. SB dossier on her indicates, that she is the one who really pursues a serious relationship (kids and stuff), ou can't also forget the pregnancy gossip Kasumi is spreading after you sleep with her.

Kasumi says "The girl in navigation thinks she might be pregnant..."  she goes on to say, "Even on a starship, love finds a way."

I don't think she was referring to Miranda. ;)

I think this is a very good point.
If the camera, apart from simply gawking at Miranda, would suggest that Shepard notices and is somehow affected by the display, I wouldn't mind those few scenes at all, I think, since that could imply that Miranda is knowingly bending over just right for the purpose of possibly testing or unhinging Shepard.

I don't believe for a second there's anything inherently wrong about the game being in-your-face about Miranda's features. I simply wish it would be more intimately connected to the actual narrative, rather than being a wink to the audience.

Yeah maybe, and I don't like it either. But I really think people are overreacting about this.

I'm okay with sex appealed driven camera shots, if they're done in a proper context. When you have things like the bridge on Zaeed's loyalty mission, it makes me roll my eyes at BioWare's shallow fanservice, and I know that one isn't Miranda exclusive. It is a problem with a lot of characters, but unfortunately Miranda got the worst treatment.

If they stay in the game, it won't make me not buy the game, but I just wish they would improve on the use of it. Rather than it being a shallow fanservice.

Like others have mentioned in the discussion. If they applied motives behind it, like seduction or flirting and that Shepard seemed to notice it would go a long ways in justifying these shots.

Miranda is by far one of the characters I most enjoyed having on my team and one of the best characters I had in games for years. I really, really hope she comes back in ME3 and she definitely needs to be a full squad members with as much interactions as possible. I tried to have my Shepard romance Tali or Jack but just couldn't ditch Miranda!

*de-lurks after more than 5 months*

I was disappointed that Casey Hudson still continued his role of being the furthest thing from the brightest bulb in the building when it comes to answering fan questions. Someone should really take over for that guy, he obviously can't answer questions well.

Anyways, always good to have another Miri thread.

With all the femShep/Miranda fans here, I'm sure some will enjoy this.
Personally, I don't like Miranda's face on this one.

I love this picture

I agree that Shepard should show more of himself in the romance and in the game as a whole.

I'd love to see a mission that relates heavily back to Shepard's Origin story, then in the aftermath of that mission we're given a cutscene that is similar to Lockdown in ME1. Shepard could be in his Quarters when his LI (Miranda) comes up to talk with him. It is obvious that Shep is hurting. He could choose to open up about his past to Miranda, showing his vulnerability or shutting it out and maintaining his never vulnerable persona.

That way it gives players both the option to engage in a more intimate and balanced relationship with their Love Interest or maintaining their invincibile persona.

This song articulates how i feel about Miranda Lawson.

I really hope my male Shepard do not face Miranda as the Cerberus agent coming to kill him. Because that would really suck.

But yeah, I hope we get to see her on board the Normandy during the game for quite sometime. I'm sure every squad member have gone out of Normandy after second game in their own personal quest or lives since Mordin obviously does not live on the ship anymore. Maybe Miranda went back to face her father or something. But I am expecting what Cerberus will do to Oriana if Shepard and Miranda called it quits. That would be very interesting. Or what happens if the base was kept intact.

I mean I thought my male Shepard would have more of a connection with Miranda since she was the second-in-command in bringing the Commander back from the dead.

Also I am a Chuck fan so I hope and know that Yvonne Strahovski will be great!

Riiight...doesn't look like you read this part of his twitter yet:

http://twitter.com/#!/caseydhudson
"Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. Spoiler-free behind-the-scenes perspective. Opinions here are mine alone, including the thing about pants."

Not sure what you were expecting him to say

If your referring to Miranda news, well I don't like it either but just be lucky he takes time out of his job to actually answer questions;
Yeah he does answer questions...even about Miranda's status; just not in specifics which he said would be spoilers (see above...)

Plus there are at least 9 other developers from ME3 on twitter too and they aren't answering questions about Miranda either...coincidence? No. Just PR keeping them reigned in.

Are you speaking of this one:

That's one I actually like quite a bit. Sure you could say it's a bit out of place in the mission, with this relaxed and pensive mood in the middle of a high-tension mission, but I like the contrast. As for being "gratuitous sex appeal driven shot", I don't feel this is one. The one in her loyalty mission and the one in the second conversation on the Normandy, that's what most of us here are talking about.

Also about Miranda. I wish she would wear some armor when she goes out on the field because it was kind of ridiculous that someone wearing nothing but spandex can face a torrent of bullets even with kinetic shields. I'm sure Miranda can look good with armor. Just keep the catsuit in the Normandy. We all know she is genetically perfect in body and mind.

Yes... on second thought, recruitment has always been a big part of the ME franchise. It would be a shame to deny Miranda a huge crucial mission which she would of course lead and to which Shepard could show up to help her complete.

Apparently is isn't such a big part this time, considering that "squadmates in ME3 won't work the same way as in the earlier games" (Christina Norman). We can get that huge crucial mission regardless of her team member status. Permanent after meeting, not on the team at all except in this mission or anything in between are compatible with it.

I think we will get that important mission with her. Apart from that, there is no information, but it would be a shame to reduce her presence to one mission. And I would find it highly annoying if other team members get a permanent presence but Miranda does not.
