That's the problem with Jacob. He's dull.

I'd say that depends on your interpretation somewhat. Apart from the "priize" line, his romance is actually very good. People usually don't see that because the "prize" line overshadows everything else.

I agree that his rejection when you want to talk to him comes across as particularly unfriendly, with the predictable result that you don't want to talk to him any more. And he's certainly not interesting enough to attract Miranda, which is why I wouldn't like it if their relationship was rekindled in a game where you romance neither.

Miranda *does* deserve a better man than him. A more interesting one anyway.

I despise his romance. It makes Shepard out to be a major perv.

At least Miranda tells Shepard about her past.

Jacob is boring in comparison.

"I used to be in the Alliance, but I'm not going to tell you about it."

"I left the Alliance to join Cerberus, but I'm not going to tell you about it."

"I once saved the Citadel, but I'm not going to tell you about it."

"Already? I'm not big on forcing these talks Shepard."

"Lets spill some drinks on the Citadel."

Shepard: Image IPB

Very vague description of his conversations. I'm assuming you're not a fan of Jacob.

Vague, but accurate.

I don't hate Jacob, I just think he is the most poorly written of the squadmates. Consequently, he is also the least interesting. Hopefully they give the poor guy a personality in ME3.

I always roll a dudeshep, so Garrus being romanceable is thankfully not an issue for me. But I do have trouble understanding the appeal. Don't get me wrong...he is my favorite character in the game after Shepard, but the Turians look like prehistoric birds. Why would anyone want them to be romanceable? What is next..a Krogan romance? Image IPB

I hope no one who romanced Garrus lives in Australia. Otherwise, I'd fear for the emus.

I don't see what's wrong with any of those, sure they might not appeal to you but that doesn't necessarily mean they're bad.
Then again I seem to be one of the few people here who likes Jacob and doesn't mind Kaidan.
As for garrus, it's the inside that counts, right? :wizard:

I did a play through... taking everyone's suggestions. Didn't work out that well for them. Jacob in the vents. Miranda doing the biotic bubble and Jack leading the fire team because she didn't want Miranda doing it. hah! It was pretty sad watching all of them die from poor choices deliberately made. :)  I even made tali and kasumi the fire team leaders.

Are you going to import that one to ME3?

Nope. I only did it to see what happens.  My first import will be my Ashley me1 romance then Miranda me2 and staying faithful to Miranda.  Still debating on whether or not I should go back and change Mordin's loyalty mission with maelon's research but I may just leave it as it is.  My second import will be Liara romance then Ashley as my third. If I can finish those two ME2 playthroughs. :P

Playing through ME2 and more specifically Miranda's romance one of several things I noticed and enjoyed was as
follows:

During her loyalty misson after you get out of that taxi cab and begin speaking to the man with the tech armor at some point  near the end of the convo you have a renegade option. This particular one being from what i  can recall the only renegade option I perform (on a paragon shep. Funny how it happens to be during miri's mission that damn miranda, i'll tell ya.) what I noticed was the subtle look shep and miri share before they make their move. It seem;s like shep and miri are able to just share a  subtle facial expression or motion of the body and with just that alone their on the same page ready to execute the plan while the enemy is none the wiser. It reminded me of, if anyone has read any eu star wars books leia and han (one of the best sci-fi couples imo) are able to do the same thing. No matter how little screen time Miranda gets in ME3 if Bioware incorporates this into what is there, Im sold.

I'd like to see Tali share a successful subtle facial exprssion with Shepard. HA!

(for the record I actually like tali; tho she's not Shepard romance material imo (little sister anyone?). Im a rare breed of people who enjoy All the ME charaters flaws and all)

Yes, I absolutely loved that part among others already mentioned.  I liked her responses on Grunts LM.   "Puberty?" hah!  To the merc who might bleed out and telling shepard that she heard of enough talk from that ****.

Interestingly enough, I just ran into some dialogue I've never heard before in Mass Effect 2. (I was playing around with the mass effect save game editor so I didn't have to replay me1 again!  It's such a chore!)  The new dialogue was in regards to letting the human council die, and chosing udina... and Shepard finally got to tell Anderson that he's working for Cerberus because council?alliance? turned their backs on him!  Anderson didn't really have any good come back lines other than the standard... we thought you were dead speech. Can't believe Ashley wanted me to kill the council. :o

Then at Freedom's progress, Miranda interrupts Jacob, Shepard and Tali ****ing about how the alliance turned their backs on them.  Miranda plainly tells them all that ****ing isn't solving the current problem.  :)

Haha, I know right? I love ME1, but if you've completed it like 12 times you really don't want to go through it again.

Oh yes, definitely that. They work seamlessly as a team. That's why the following screenshot is my top favorite of many good shots:

A short look to see if they're in agreement about what's to be done:

And then on with the mission:

There's nothing in any other romance with this effect. Almost more than everything else, it establishes that Miranda and Shepard are perfect companions, professionally and romantically! Let's hope ME3 lets us acknowledge that!

I always keep an ME1 save immediate before the final fight against Saren. That way, if I want to change my decision about the Council, it only takes a few minutes.

What exactly didn't you hear before? Are you telling me that you never killed the Council before?

Anderson didn't really have any good come back lines other than the standard... we thought you were dead speech. Can't believe Ashley wanted me to kill the council. :o

She was talking good tactical sense. It wasn't that she wanted the Council dead, she said Sovereign was the bigger threat and you shouldn't draw away any resources from that fight to save the Council, because it might tip the balance in Sovereign's favor.

I wouldn't say it's dying.

But it's certainly slowing down. We average around 3-4 pages per day, which isn't bad, considering the size of the thread. Once ME3 drops, it will explode.

You're working under the assumption that Miranda will do anything worth talking about in ME3 or that she will be around for more than 5 minutes. Lets be honest, there is a very real possibilty that we ( all of us Miranda fans )  will walk away from ME3 with very little to discuss. I supose we could always **** and complain but I'm growing tired moaning about how poorly Bioware are treating Miri, it's just falling on deaf ears and it's too late to do anything about now anyhow. It's a small miracle this page hit 1500 pages ( and has more posts than any other character ) when Bioware haven't reaveled any info on Miri for ME3.

Have to say, I've started having this fear, too. I've been a huge fan of both Miranda and Ashley, so it would really REALLY suck if ME3 would reverse the ME2 situation (so Miranda would do 2 cameos and an email instead of Ashley, this time around). I'm still willing to give Bioware the benefit of doubt, but frankly the treatment of all the new ME2 squadmates is really worrying me, past performance included. :crying:

I guess, if nothing else, it shows how much we truly appreciate the character.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I am truly disappointed in her ME3 role, but I will enjoy what screen time she has nonetheless. Even if her role isn't up to my personal expectations, it's nothing to dump her over.
