I role played making it not mention. I didn't even make Jacob say, "She deserves a better man than I."

Shepard finding out that Miranda had a "romantic" relationship with Jacob that ended before he ever met her will hurt their relationship?
You want an unspoiled maiden, I suggest the Liara or Tali romances.

It might be a "I'll show you Shepard's body" look or it might be a "Let's find a quieter place" look.
One way or the other, it is not important. And that is actually a problem with the Dossiers and Video Archives. They are not important, there's maybe one or two interesting things among mundane stuff.
Bioware had a perfect opportunity to fill in holes, introduce interesting plotlines, etc. Instead, we learn how many cigars TIM smokes.

But you get the fun of interpreting muted video how you like. I think Jacob comes by, says something related to security and tries to make a joke about it. It fails in a charming way and she suggests that he come by the examination wing, there's probably something he could secure there...

There's a reason it occured in the first place. Combine that with them on a space station for a long while, and things happen, repeatedly. Personally I see fondness from both of them to one another, and think that she still thinks about him. Perhaps not with the same degree of "love," but there is definite interest and it is mutual.

And if they really needed to show it, why not focus on a more fulcral point? Maybe show how they broke up.

But that video is not even the greatest offender. The running joke with that reporter is showcased twice, Khellam runs over a turian and then yells at a mirror.
Show how the VS was not captured on Horizon, show the Alliance attempting to defend colonies from the Collectors, show Shepard's corpse being worked on, show Kahoku being murdered, etc.

I would've liked to see that video. I wonder if it was emotional. If it ended on bad terms, was it amicable? Personally I think it was handled civilly, but people are fickle with emotions and relationships, and can leave someone with much reluctance. I don't care what both fan bases say, I can definitely see them being a good fit.

Yeah, two years is a long time, and being in the center of space would remind you of that. I know what you mean about Miranda's coquettish mannerisms, and I suppose her jumpsuit doesn't help.
