I really hope the ME3 romance isn't one sided. I want a more emotional Shepard at least with Miranda. I would like him to show more love, care, and affection with Miranda.

I did hear shepard is more human now than ever before so it can mean he or she will be much more emotional scenes involving shepard and potentially nice scenes with characters including Miranda.
However not sure on how much interaction we will get with Miranda in ME3 though so it could be restricting

but its all on the opinion and the values of you and your shepard that makes it if Miranda really is the true love for him or even for her.
Like I know a few people who say Ashley Williams is perfect for male commander shepard and some say Tali.
Its all an opinion and from ME2 its hard to tell if it will work but I hope so, but we will have to wait to see what happens in ME3.

I hope thats not true that is so annoying if they ME2 characters arent classed as true love's. it should be up to the gamer to decide if the character they romance is a true love or not.

A romance scene doesn't necessarily depend on a variable like this. Unless they use the standard models and just mash their faces together like dolls they have to create new models, new renders for a romance scene (recall even unzipped Miranda). If they never planned to have a romance scene with her it's not like they'll fully create the scene but never use it because of one variable. It just won't be there. Also fun fact: Miranda was the only one in ME2 that actually got a different model for the romance scene (at least for female LIs). Presumably they'll have to up their game more to ME1-style scenes if not more. Which I think supports the idea of new models created, which renders this variable superflous (at least for this). If it has another purpose I don't know. Maybe epilogue content?

There should be happy ending for all romances, if player works for it. I don't want any dumb ass endings for my romances, simply because it might provide interesting storytelling. I am not going to try them all anyway, so that kind of a variation isn't necessary.

Thane's is doomed outright. Jacob, I'm not sure, but at the very least his romance can be screwed up pretty easily. Which leaves Miranda and Jack. Haven't investigated Jack's too thoroughly, but Miranda's appears functional as of the endgame. It does appear, however, that them staying together will come at a horrible price that includes her relationship with Oriana. If Miranda survives the endgame.

But he says that he is dying, when you first meet him, you know how it'll end when you get into it. I don't understand how Miri and Shepard couldn't live happily together for the rest of their lives, I don't see any clear indications that would make it impossible or somewhat less likely than the opposite scenario.

Miri is Perfect for Shepard. Look at the the Romance Build Up and the Love Scene: They are more in depth than the others, more connection. Besides, the Love Scene is longer than the one for the others, as if BioWare put more Effort in Miri than the other LIs in ME2, which is EXTREMELY OK with me because Miri is My Shepard's Number One Gal<3.
