Miranda was born before we discovered the Charon Relay thus, we can say for sure she was born on the Sol system.
I guess she could have been born on the moon or Mars but my money's on Earth.

edit: Correction, she was born a year after the discovery of the Charon relay so there still wouldn't have been enough time for humanity to extablish colonies.

Nobody specifies, but I'd say Australia is reasonable. Though it's more shocking she has an accent at all.

They wouldn't get Yvonne Stahovski to play the role just to tell her to speak generically without spice in the voice.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't realise this was a plot related question. Yeah, she was raised seperately from much of the outside world. The only logical conclusion is that her father or tutors or whatnot had that accent, so she'd picked it up from them. I bet Orianna doesn't have an australian accent, but that's not mentioned, or heard in the game so there's no evidence.

And why not? She can speak without australian accent just fine.

It's good to know that Yvonne was given a chance to use her Native Aussie Accent. In other things (Except for the Killer Elite), she has an American Accent.

Miranda might be raised on Australia, but she could have born in any other place on Earth.

...because they would get another VA, or another character, or something. They were going for a plan, I'm not sure what plan that was. Figure they wanted "brittish-ish, but not too brittish" or something along those lines. Hell, ask Bioware.

@Skullheart She made it sound in some of her conversations that she wasn't really allowed to communicate with people outside of her fathers influence and she didn't get a chance for a normal life. So it's a safe bet her accent doesn't reflect her origin as much as her immediate surroundings.

Hell, her ethnicity doesn't really say much either where she might be from. Genetically taylored. Maybe the scientists discovered Australians have the best genes?

I didn't know she did a British Accent. She can speak many other languages quite well. 

I wonder if she has voiced Miri in other languages.

Langauges are learned, not innate. Her accent is indicative of where she grew up. And languages tend to change slowly. I'd say wherever she was born, she's grown up in Australia.

By being expensive and voicing a character who will not be alive in all games. Note that the pricey voice acting is normally reserved for characters who cannot be killed: EDI, Joker, TIM, Anderson, etc.

I don't know that this affected her role, but the idea is plausible enough.
